Through the summer and the fall, we had each other, that was all
Just she and I together, like it was meant to be
And when she was lonely, I was there to comfort her
And I knew that she loved me.
Sighing, Prussia continued to clean, silently cursing Germany's dogs under his breath. His heart seemed to lift a bit when he spotted a sheathed dagger. The leather scabbard was slightly scratched, but other than that it was in good condition. Prussia picked it up and took out the dagger, holding it delicately by the blade and holding it up so the jeweled hilt flashed in the light. He smiled slightly at the 'H' engraved in the base of the blade.
Hungary, now a teen, sat underneath a towering oak tree. The leaves were a blazing red and fluttered down carelessly from the branches with the slightest breeze. Hungary rested her chin on her hand and gazed out at the field of grass before her. Prussia had gone to war, leaving her behind. She had no other friends that she was close to as she was to him, so she spent most of her days by herself. It would get lonely at times and she waited eagerly for the day her beloved friend would return.
"Hungary!" a voice called to her, and she sighed. It sounded exactly like Prussia, but it couldn't be him. He wouldn't be back for at least another year. She must've been hearing things. "HUNGARY!!!" The voice shouted this time, jolting Hungary out of her daze. She whirled around to see that the source of the voice was indeed Prussia, grinning wildly at her as he ran towards her, the white cloak of his uniform billowing behind him.
"Gilbert!" Hungary said with joy, getting to her feet and running to the albino, tackling him to the ground in a crushing hug. Prussia laughed and hugged his friend tightly, burying his face in her long brown hair. "I missed you," he said softly, looking at her with a bright smile.
"I missed you too, Prussia," Hungary chuckled. Prussia's smile widened and he perked up suddenly. "Oh right, I almost forgot!" He pulled a leather scabbard with a jeweled dagger and handed it to her.
"You gave this to me for good luck, remember? I'm back now, so I don't need it anymore." Hungary rolled her eyes and shoved it back at him. "Keep it. A guy like you needs all the luck he can get," she said, her eyes twinkling humorously. Prussia blushed in spite of himself and tucked the dagger back into the folds of his uniform.
"You're cute when you're flustered," Hungary said, smirking. Prussia huffed and crossed his arms over his chest, turning his nose up in the air pride fully. "I am a knight. I am not cute!" he said, sporting a faint pout on his lips. Hungary laughed and poked his cheek, making his face turn a brilliant shade of pink.
"Race you to the tree!" Hungary said, pointing to their towering oak, which was much farther away than she had thought. Hungary jumped to her feet and took off running, leaving the flustered Prussia behind.
"Hey, no fair!" he yelled, getting to his feet and scrambling to catch up with her. Hungary laughed and picked up the pace, slowly getting nearer and nearer to the towering oak. "
Looks like I'm winning!" she taunted, sending a smirk at the stumbling knight. "Not on my watch, Lizzy!" Prussia growled playfully, sprinting towards her. Hungary yelped as Prussia wrapped his arms around her waist and tackled her to the ground. The two came to a halt with Hungary pinned to the ground, Prussia hovering a few inches above her.
"Um...S-Sorry..." Prussia stuttered, his face turning bright red. Hungary said nothing, merely looking into Prussia's face. She'd never noticed how good-looking her best friend really was until now, and she felt a blush slowly creep up on her cheeks. She felt a strange feeling in her chest, almost like her heart had skipped a beat.
"Eliza?" Prussia said softly, seeming to get closer to his friend. "Yeah?" Hungary replied, sporting a small smile. Prussia hesitantly pressed his lips against hers in a short, sweet kiss. When he pulled away he looked slightly guilty, grimacing.
"I...I'm sorry...I shouldn't have done that. B-But the truth is Hungary...I-Ich liebe dich...I have for a while..." Prussia stammered out, his pale face becoming redder by the minute. Hungary felt that strange sensation again and kissed Prussia's cheek.
"Ich liebe dich auch, Gilbert," Hungary said with a smile.
Prussia placed the blade back in it's scabbard, blushing at the memory of their first kiss. So awkward...and yet, that's what had made it special.
