Chapter 2- Out in the woods

Nina had never been to school before, she didn't know what it would be like. The things she knew about school were all from movies and TV shows. So to stay on the safe side she wore a plain white T-shirt that she tucked into her blue skinny jeans. She paired the outfit with white shoes and a big black tote bag.

Nina got familiar with her inner wolf at the age of 15, unlike other werewolves who get familiar with their's at a much younger age. So ever since she was 15, she would embrace everything that she was capable of doing with the help of her wolf. So she preferred to run to school. The run was obviously longer than she expected it to be since she had never been outside the forest before. She got lost several times on her way to school.

When she finally arrived, she was 15 minutes late and her lecture had already began.

"This is so cliché." She sighed as she stood outside her class door right before she pulled it and walked in.

The Math teacher stopped teaching and the students stopped taking notes. They all looked in her direction and stared at her like they already knew who she was. This made Nina nervous but she obviously didn't realise that they were staring at her because she looked so different.

She wasn't wearing a skirt like most girls at school did, not like it's a bad thing but it stood out to everyone. Her long black hair complimented her perfectly, the few strands that stood out messily were only adding on to her charm. Her forehead was a little sweaty from all the running and she was still panting a little.

Nina realised that it had been almost a minute of just silence and staring. She looked at the professor for help and he took the hint. But it didn't go as expected.

"Late on your first day, that's a good start Miss Nina. Take your seat next to Jennie." He rudely said and shook his head. He pointed at the empty seat next to a very pretty girl who was already smiling at Nina. She looked very nice and welcoming but Nina was told to stay cautious. She could smell the stench of death as soon she entered the school property. She had heard from her unnies that apparently vampires smell horrible but she didn't know it would be that evident. She was trying her best not to react to it otherwise everyone would think that she's a werewolf.

Nina bowed to the professor and made her way to the seat allotted to her. She sat next to Jennie and immediately knew that she was a vampire. She also spotted a werewolf while she walked past a few students. She obviously didn't know his name but she knew that she wouldn't forget a face as handsome as his.

"Hi! Nina right?" Jennie asked as Nina took her notebook and pen out.

"Yes and you're Jennie! Help me out please? I suck at math." Nina whispered with a smile on her face as she was slowly getting used to the smell radiating off of Jennie.

"You're asking the wrong person, I suck at math too." She giggled and took Nina's notebook. She tore a piece of paper from it and rolled it into a ball. She waited for the professor to turn around and then started to aim the paper ball at the handsome werewolf's head. When she was satisfied with her aim, she threw it at the werewolf's head.

Nina widened her eyes out of nervousness. She didn't want the werewolf to even spare a look at her. She was scared about getting caught even though there wasn't anything to worry about. Before the piece of paper hit his head, he turned around and caught it. It was so fast it almost looked like it was filmed and played on fast forward. He looked at Jennie with a very unamused face and just gave her his notebook.

Jennie blew a kiss at him and turned to look at me with pride spread all over her face. Nina looked down at the notebook and giggled at what was written on it. Jennie got confused and looked at it too. 'Eat this shit' was written in huge capital letters right in the middle of the spreadsheet.

"Stupid werewolf." Jennie scowled at him.

"Werewolf?" Nina pretend to be shocked as a reflex.

"Yeah he's a stupid werewolf. There are many around here, I thought you'd know." Jennie replied.

"I did but I just didn't mean to come across one that soon. It's kind of scary if I'm being honest." Nina lied. She looked hesitant on the outside but deep down she was amused at how Jennie was not coming clean about her identity.

And just as if it was on queue, Jennie informed Nina that she's a vampire. She also told her that she's not feared by any humans because she feeds on the blood that they get from the blood bank. She was friends with almost every human in the school. She was loved by everyone except for the vampires and the werewolves.

The werewolves hated all vampires in general so it was no news to Nina that she was disliked by them. But when she got to know that the vampires looked down on Jennie because she refused to feed on living humans was not settling well with her. It upset her.

The rest of the day went by really fast. Jennie told Nina almost everything she needed to know about the school. At the end of the day Nina had registered to audition for the school's dance team and the girls' basketball team. She would have her audition tomorrow and would play a half court match with the basketball team as a try out. Jennie assured her that she would get in as Jennie was the captain.

Nina heard a lot about the Bangtan maknaes from almost everyone she spoke to. Jennie mainly made her talk to humans and kept her away from the vampires. Nina didn't understand why but she surely noticed it. She made it a point to look into that more. It was weird because her unnies always told her vampires stick to humans a lot so they can feed off of them. Nina also took note of the fact that humans were afraid of vampires. Whenever one passed through the hallway everyone would look away. Strangely, they didn't do that when Jennie was around them. In fact, they all seemed to love her just like she said before.

Coming to the point, by now she knew quite a lot about these Bangtan Maknaes. She knew that there were three of them, Jungkook the maknae, Taehyung and Jimin who was the hyung between the three. Apparently they had four more brothers who were either in college or working. Nina had only seen Taehyung till now. He was the handsome werewolf from math class. Jimin and Taehyung were spoken about a lot more than Jungkook. They were supposedly very sweet but judging by the math lecture Nina wasn't so sure about Taehyung. Jungkook was called 'The Siren' by the vampires because he had the kind of voice that even made vampires addicted to him. Jungkook was the main dancer and the three brothers were the best players in the boys' basketball team.

Nina was satisfied with the amount of things she had to digest in a day. At the end of her first school day, Jennie stood at the gate waving at Nina until she was out of sight.

Nina was happily making her way back home. Once she had the forest in view and saw that no one was around she started running towards her home, excited to tell her unnies about her first ever day outside.

She could smell Wheein's 'mood maker' muffins from a mile away. The witches, except for Hwasa were assuming that she would be having a shitty day at school. Hwasa didn't stop them from worrying because honestly, she just wanted the muffins.

Nina opened the door and barged into the house with a huge smile on her face. Her unnies looked at her hesitantly and then narrowed their eyes at her.

"Looks like you enjoyed your first 8 hours away from your unnies. We raised you with love kid. You're expected to come home and throw a tantrum about not wanting to go to school anymore." Moonbyul taunted the little adult and only got a giggle in return.

"What? Did you not miss us at all?" Solar asked as Nina shook her head at her dramatic family.

She threw her bag on the couch before plopping on it herself and looked at Solar.

"I missed you on the way to school and on my way back home. But the rest of the day was so much to take in unnie. I have so much to tell you guys." She turned to the table and saw Hwasa desperately eyeing the muffins.

"Bring the muffins, come I'll tell you all of it."

The witches sat around Nina as she munched on her food and told them everything about her first day.

At the end of the story telling session, the witches told her to find out why Jennie was loved and to stay away from the werewolves. Vampires weren't as scary as the werewolves were.

Nina told them not to worry and that she would do what they said. She then took her camera and went out in the woods to take pictures like she did everyday. She trailed down the familiar path with her huge professional camera and a smile on her face.

Taehyung on the other hand could not stop himself from following Nina home. Ever since she walked into the classroom he could smell her scent and it wasn't normal for humans to smell that strong. But she didn't smell as strong as a werewolf either. He thought she was sent by a rival pack to spy on his pack, that's why she smelled like that, like a wolf. To figure out the answers to his questions he followed her scent and stopped in front of the forest.

He shifted to his wolf form so he could comfortably go through the runway of trees. As soon as he shifted he could hear footsteps and the faint beating of a heart. He started following the sound assuming it was Nina. According to him she was human so she couldn't have gone too far.

Nina was walking towards her favourite spot, a little stream in the exact centre of the forest. Everytime she took pictures of the place it would look different from the previous one so it fascinated her more than anything. She took the camera bag from around her shoulder and placed it on a huge rock. She walked towards the stream and bent down to collect the fresh water in her hands and drink it. It was a werewolf instinct to just do things that keep you closer to nature. After she drank from the stream she went back to her camera and switched it on. She started to take pictures as she hummed her favourite tunes.

Taehyung was getting closer and closer to where Nina was. His strength was his sense of hearing but because Nina was near a moving body of water he couldn't hear her heartbeat anymore. He had to rely on his sense of smell and that was slowing him down.

As he got closer and closer, Nina could smell him. She remembered his scent, it wasn't an easy one to forget but it felt to her like he was only a step away from her, that's how strong his scent was. She immediately knew that he was in his wolf form. She had never sensed any wolf so close to her or in the forest before, so she knew he was looking for her.

Thinking of the things that he could do to her, she panicked and made a big mistake. She started to run towards her house forgetting that he could very obviously hear her footsteps.

Taehyung's wolf growled and started following her. To him he could only sense danger, no human or vampire could've known he was following her. She was obviously running away from him because she somehow knew he was there.

Both Nina and Taehyung knew she couldn't outrun him but she was terrified and couldn't think straight. She saw her house from a distance and felt a little bit of hope in her heart.

Taehyung, on the flip side saw her running for her life and started to sprint. He was ready to pounce on her after a taking a few more steps but suddenly she disappeared. He could still smell her, hear her heart racing and her footsteps as she ran in a direction that he couldn't comprehend anymore, but he couldn't see her. He stopped in his spot and looked around.

Nina turned around to see how far he was from her but she saw him standing still, only looking around for something. She stood there confused, not understanding why he was behaving that way. She looked around herself now to check if he was waiting for his pack to help him hunt her down. But if there was someone else she would be able to smell them. When she looked to her right she saw a tree with something carved onto it. She was trying to remember what the symbol was and unknowingly took a step in the direction of the tree. But she stopped immediately because the wolf in front of her snapped his head in her direction. He looked straight at her for a few seconds before he started to look around again. This is when Nina realised that the witches had cloaked their house. Anyone who didn't belong there would not be able to see the property of land. That's what the symbol was, if Nina crossed the line, Taehyung would be able to see her again. She took a sigh of relief and turned around to walk to back her house.

He could hear her walking away from him. He understood that the place was cloaked too. He was in his animal form but that doesn't separate a wolf from their human selves. He turned around and started to make his way out of the forest, knowing very well that there was nothing he could do about this situation. He decided to go to the stream he took notice of earlier to drink some water.

As he neared the place he could smell her scent again. He knew it was because she was here before, he was very confused and he was starting to get scared. He found a camera bag as he approached the small water body. He went closer to it and sniffed around it, he figured it was hers. He took his time drinking water and went back to his house.
