The Long Forgotten Past
You splashed your face with water before looking up to the mirror, with a face so red, you wiped your face with a towel. Walking out after your business in the bathroom, you took a look around, to see Zoro sleeping against the fence of Sunny. You sighed as you casually walked to the kitchen to retrieve Wuxian.
Seeing Sanji in the kitchen, you gave him a quick hello before taking your precious weapon to the Crows nest to polish. Taking a breather, you take Wuxian out, staring at the blade, seeing your reflection. It made you think of those lost memories of the past.
~Going back in time~
Running to the dojo in your small village, you meet up with Kuina to attend class. The whole day was training, after class would be sparring with Kuina, but sometimes when you went looking for Kuina, you'd see her sparing with a kid with a green hair. He was using three bamboo sticks while Kuina only used one. You were amazed at the sight of someone using three-sword style but in the end, he lost. It was disappointing but Kuina does have skill in her sword style as well.
You ran home with you covered in bruises from your training. Coming home to see your dad furious, he lashed out at you, saying things like you can't become a swordsman, your a girl, abusing you both physically and mentally. The constant abuse and foul words from your father was more than enough to make you rebel. But you weren't really seeking to be the best swordsman but more like being able to more free, adventure, basically see the world and to stand on your two feet. In your village, woman would just cook and clean that's why you decided to become more, some one who knows more than just cooking and cleaning.
When night falls, you sneak out from your window out to your practice area. When you were about to arrive there, you saw the moonlight shine upon a figure with a familiar green haired boy. The boy was laying on the ground, out of breath, with his three bamboo swords scattered around him. You walked to his side, crouching by his side, you poked his face. He opened his eyes before backing up against a tree. You stood up while laughing at his action.
"Hi there." you said as you waved your hand
"My name is (y/n), you were the kid who fought Kuina right?" Asking him due to curiosity. He looked at you for a moment, before giving you a nod.
"My name is Roronoa Zoro."
"Pleasure to make your acquaintance"
" Do you always train out here?" You asked while looking up at the star filled sky, swinging your feet back and forth whilst being lost in moonlight that ingulfed everything.
"Yeah, but what brings you out here? Since you hang out with Kuina, i thought you didn't need to train since your level with Kuina." He says
"Who says that I don't need training, to improve takes time and practice. Pushing your limits." You said to Zoro with your cheeky smile.
" I think we'll get along just fine." he said
From then on, you ,Kuina and Zoro would spar together even though Kuina showed no interest. Zoro would always lost to both of you, but he always stood up. That spirit of his, was really something. His hard headed was no different.
But on that one day, after getting a beating from your father, you swiftly make your way to the dojo. Hoping to get away, even if only temporarily, from your broken family. And as soon as you got there, the news hit you like a bullet. Kuina was gone. Your sparring partner, your friend was now being carried, lifeless. You kept staring at her, only shedding a single tear as her lifeless self was disappearing in the distance. You didn't go train that day, only staring into the distant sky for comfort.
As time went on, you got pushed to your limits by your father and Kuina's death. It became weights on your shoulders. Things just piled up and it forced you to leave the village to pursue your dreams, becoming free, happy and stronger. You heard a lot about Zoro taking on Kuina's dream, taking her sword as the pledge. You decided to set sail first but right before untying the rope keeping you to land, Kuina's father stood there. His eyes still the same as the day you met him, he took a sword shaped cloth and handed it to you. You unwrapped it, showing a sword stained black, only the hilt and the scabbard having marks and patterns of gold swirling and brighting up the sword. You eyes shine from the gold, then you look up at your sensei.
"But why? Isn't this precious to you, to Kuina?" He shook his head and handed it to you, it was the sword he had in the storage room. Kuina always took good care of it but she chose the white scabbered sword as her trusty weapon. It was precious for sure, its sword being made of black steel, shining from the suns glistening.
" Take it as a parting gift from me, thank you for what you did for my daughter." You were just friends with her, something so small but it left sentiment. A tear slid down from your eye, you bowed your head.
"Thank you so much Sensei." You straighten your back to see Zoro next to the dojo master, out of breath, facing you.
"Promise that we'll meet and duel in the future!!!" He yelled. You nodded before heading off wherever the wind takes you.
Starting your own adventure, leaving your forgotten past behind you.
