So let me ask you this: if you follow someone, do you expect a follow back? What if you followed a Wattpad celebrity (and by celebrity, I mean those who are extremely popular with tons of votes and loads of followers e.g. haveyouseenthisgirl) do you expect them to follow you back? I am just curious as to what is the etiquette and proper conduct of a follower and a followee (is followee even considered a word?). Do we have some sort of ethics in Wattpad that Wattpaders developed, if you know what I mean? What is the SOP if someone followed you? Do you have to follow them back as well? I think it depends on one’s discretion. How about to unfollow the one you follow? It depends on your own discretion, too.

But what if someone followed a massive amount of people (let’s call this someone Mr. X) like one thousand people in a day and two days after that someone unfollowed those people who did not follow him or did not vote his novel? Then Mr. X followed another set of one thousand people then repeated the same process over again after two days. Then he did it again the day after and so on and so forth. Was that right? Maybe that was Mr. X’s strategy to gain followers, but was that kind of action acceptable? Was it okay to unfollow someone who didn’t follow you back? Mr. X followed and unfollowed me three times. I didn’t mind. Hey, you followed me first. And I did thank you for following me, and I followed you back. The thing is I got curious as to why Mr. X unfollowed me three times then followed me again three times. So I did a little investigation ala detective Conan. I did some observation, studied the patterns of Mr. X’s activities and such (I know, I am creepy sometimes, but Mr. X caught my attention and the creepiness in me just can’t stop from oozing out of my system) then I was right, Mr. X follows several people then unfollow them a day or two afterwards. Okay, it’s your right to unfollow someone, most especially if that someone is rude. But those people who you followed even thanked you and expressed their gratefulness that at least one person followed them. How would that person feel when he realizes that his one and only follower unfollowed him after two days? It’s that person’s right to not follow you.

And furthermore, you can’t FORCE someone to vote for your book so that it’ll be on the top ten of the hotlist. Asking people to give you a flood votes without them reading it first? C’mon, man. Flood votes are okay, if they give it to you on their own volition. But begging for it? Forcing someone to do it? Why not make friends with them or promote your books in the right way? Yes, you have already achieved your goals. Your story is already on the first page of the hotlist. But are you happy that your story has lots of votes but nobody really read them word for word? Of course it would reflect that the number of reads in that novel is increasing –that was because the moment you click a chapter to make a vote, it’s already considered a read. Are you sure they really read your story? Your story maybe good, but with the way you chose your method for it to be there on top, it kinda make it undeserving to be there. And telling someone who commented on your MB to post it instead on the comment section of the book was just WOW. Ikaw na talaga. Sabi mo, published author ka na. So bakit mo ginagawa ‘yan? Mas matanda ka pa naman sa amin ng ilang taon. Dapat mas alam mo ang tama.

It’s because Wattpad is just new and I haven’t been an active Wattpader for long, so I really don’t know if what Mr. X did was acceptable. For my last experiment and observation, I unfollowed Mr. X. I wasn’t going to, actually. But I didn’t want to read his activities on my message board. Maybe I should have just mute any notifications from Mr. X. Was that possible here in Wattpad? Like in Fb, you can still be a friend with someone but mute the notifications of their activities from showing in your news feeds. But I was planning to follow him back if my deductions were wrong. As expected, Mr. X unfollowed me and never followed me agsin. HAHAHA. Peace, man! I wish you luck on your book. But may you find the right path. We do not want to teach the young people here something unethical, do we?
