Sophie

Percy escaped.

Just after we left, a spout of water gushed from the wall out of nowhere, and Percy ran out of the hole. I cursed under my breath. It seemed like he was a hydrokinetic.

"He escaped!" I shrieked. Mr. Forkle eyed me wearily.

"Yes, well, I'm afraid we underestimated his power." He admitted, looking embarrassed.

"We need to get him back! He sounds dangerous." Fitz fretted. Keefe just stood there, gaping.

"Did that—what just—I don't—" he stuttered.

"Yes, of course that happened! It seems like he used the water to bust him out." I said, mostly to myself.

"I've never seen anything like it." Mr. Forkle murmured.

"Not even Linh's that powerful." I added. "He's definitely dangerous. We should go after him." Mr. Forkle nodded. "Agreed." We ran to the place where he'd fled. We could just see the faint figure running to the woods.

"Levitating's faster." I decided. We all pushed against the ground and shot towards him. Soon, we caught up.

"Ack!" He yelped when we dropped in front of him. "Since where did you come from?"

"You need to go back, Percy." I told him. "For your sake." He snorted.

"For my sake? I suggest you leave for your own sake before I rip you all to pieces." He slashed his blade in a deadly arc. I inhaled sharply. I had to try my inflicting. I didn't have a choice. I grasped Keefe and Fritz's hand and levitated a few feet. I unraveled all of the emotions tied in my gut.

Fear.

Anger.

Disappointment.

My vision rimmed red and a bolt of red light shot from my forehead and into his chest. He staggered and fell to the floor.

"Holy Hestia, what kind of an attack was that?" He demanded. Apparently, it hadn't worked. Again. Frustration seared through my mind, and I coiled the feeling in my gut, saving them for later.

"You were supposed to feel pain." I said simply. "Apparently, it didn't work." He scowled.

"I've felt enough pain for a lifetime." He growled. "You're not helping."

"We just want to know if you're a threat." Mr. Forkle said gently. "You have an...interesting record."

He snorted again. "I'm a lot of things, but a threat isn't one of them. Unless, of course, you try to kill anyone I love. Then I'm a threat." He twirled the sword in his hand nonchalantly. "Can I go now?"

Mr. Forkle shook his head. "We must know more about you." He insisted. "How can we know you aren't telling the truth?"

"He's telling the truth." Keefe piped up. "I can feel his emotions all the way here. And he wasn't joking about the last part." He fanned the air like he did when my emotions were spiking. "Dude, that's some serious anger you've got there."

"You can feel his emotions like mine?" I asked. "That's...weird."

"What? What do you mean, feel my emotions?" He asked. Then he scowled. "At this point, I don't even care now." He glared at us. "I'm going to find my way back home and you can't stop me." He turned and ran.

"Oh no you don't." I muttered as I grabbed his arm. He gave me a stare that looked downright murderous, like he was saying, no matter how bad you think you are, I'm worse. I forced down my fear and spoke.

"Look, we don't know what you are, but you seem like an elf." He stares at me like I'm crazy.

"Elves??" He asks incredulously. "You mean like those elves with pointy ears and funny little hats that work for Santa Claus?" I rolled my eyes.

"You sound like Sophie when I first met her." Fitz chuckled.

"No, idiot. I meant like the elves that disappeared from history long ago." I sighed as I saw confusion in those stormy green eyes.

"Ms. Foster..." Mr. Forkle warned. I ignored him.

"I'll explain..."

"Ok, my brain is on overdrive." Percy shook his head. "But...I believe you. There's been a lot of crazy stuff in my life, and your story? I'm not really surprised."

"So... are you an elf?" I asked. He laughed.

"Nope. I'm a...human." He fidgeted with his pen-sword.

"He's lying." Keefe informed us. "And dude, your emotions are like a rollercoaster. Soooo much like Foster here. You sure you guys aren't related?" I elbowed him in the ribs.

"Can you like, stop reading my emotions? It's kinda creepy." Percy scowled at Keefe. He shrugged.

"It's not like I can help it." He muttered. I turn back to Percy.

"You're not telling the whole story." I noted. He pursed his lips.

"I can't tell you anything. I'm sorry. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone about the elves and the Lost Cities and all that stuff." He gave us an apologetic smile and disappeared into mist. I gaped.

"Woah." Keefe stared at the place Percy was standing. "Did I actually see that?" Fitz looked equally shocked.

Mr. Forkle sighed. "This is incredibly confusing, but I can't blame the boy. Information can be dangerous." I glared at him.

"We can't just let him off like that!" I protested. "He's dangerous. His sword fighting skills are flawless, plus he can control water and just disappear into mist and who knows what else he can do?"

"She has a point." Fitz admitted.

Mr. Forkle sighed. "You kids are always trying to be the hero. Fine. We'll search for him in the morning. For now, you three need to go and rest."
