Keefe
[The answer was Geryon, from the Battle of the Labyrinth. He got impaled by Riptide, pulling out his three hearts.]
No. No no no no no no no.
Sophie couldn't have disappeared. But she was nowhere to be found, and her registration pendant was untraceable. It was a nightmare all over again.
"I'll find those Neverseen idiots and smash the crap out of them." Percy growled.
"Language." Fitz muttered absentmindedly. Percy rolled his eyes and wrapped an arm around Annabeth. I scowled. Me and Foster might've been like that if it weren't for those Neverseen dopes.
"Fitz, can you track her thoughts?" Biana asked. Fitz jumped up. "I haven't thought of that." He admitted. He closed his eyes, his eyebrows scrunching together in concentration. After when I was quite sure I had pointy ears, Fitz spoke up.
"I found her!" He said excitedly. Then he frowned. "You're alright? What? ARE YOU POSESSED OR WHAT? NO, THE NEVERSEEN ARE NOT NICE, YOU CAN'T BE FRIENDS WITH—oh. Wait, what? Oh no, don't tell me you've lost your memory." A pause. "Ok, so a Neverseen member was NICE to you? You do realize that it could be a trap. Wait, Gisela's dead??" My heart stopped.
"My-my mom?" I squeaked. My heart plummeted. Sure, she was evil, and she did give me an impossible legacy, but somewhere in my heart, a place only Sophie knew about, I longed for her. Her to be a normal mom. A caring mom. A mom that cared about her son's emotional health. I buried my face in my hands.
No, Keefe, you aren't going to act like this. Just suck it all in. Sophie wouldn't want you to cry over your evil mother when she's kidnapped. I looked up. Fitz and Biana looked worried. Even Tam looked at me with pity. Percy and Annabeth had this sort of pained look in their eyes. Linh sat next to me and put a hand on my shoulder.
"Is something wrong, Keefe?" She asked. I cleared my throat.
"It's just that, if the Neverseen has a new leader, we don't know anything about them. It could be worse than my mom, of Fintan. We don't even know their ability. They could be a pyrokinetic for all we know." I fibbed. This was a concern, but most likely the least of it. My mom was dead.
Don't care, Keefe. She tried to kill you and your friends.
"Huh? Yeah, I'm here, Sophie." Fitz continued. "What? You're with another person? What's his name? Nico di what?" Percy suddenly shot up.
"Nico di Angelo?" He asked. "Holy Hestia, that's not good. He might kill the Neverseen without us." Fitz raised an eyebrow. "Your friend and Sophie is currently kidnapped, and all you worry about is how many Neverseen members they kill?" Percy shrugged.
"I want to join the fun, too." He simply said. I saw some of the same murderous glare he had when he controlled the Neverseen.
"Killing people is fun???" Tam asked, bewildered. "And I thought I was shady." Linh elbowed her brother. "You still are kind of emo, Tam." She reminded him. Tam just snorted.
"You're worse than Vespera." Fitz growled. Percy shot a scary glare at Fitz, and he cowered. This guy looked downright murderous, but I could still see that he was holding a lot of the murder back. Annabeth put a hand on his shoulder.
"Percy, calm down." She said. "You can let your energy out on the monsters in camp. Just maybe not elves." He sighed. "I guess—" A savage growl came from out of the windows.
"That's my cue." Percy whipped out Riptide, his magical sword, and charged outside, Annabeth next to him holding her dagger.
Fitz still looked weary of Percy, but he went back to his telepathic conversation with Sophie. I wondered if I could do the same thing with my empath skills. I searched for Sophie's emotional rollercoaster. I felt a flutter of happiness. Happiness? That couldn't be right. But this one stood out like an elf's emotions, none other than Sophie Foster. Her emotions were giddy, like Silveny's. Only it wasn't exactly happiness. It was excitement.
"Why is she excited?" I wondered out loud. Fitz looked startled. "How did you know?"
"I tracked down her emotions." I said.
"That sounds stalker-ish." Percy said from the doorway. Heck, this guy was creepy.
"It does not." I argued. I took a good look at him, and there was blood splattered on his shoulder. There was a golden powder over his hair, and Annabeth looked the same, only she looked fearful. I could tell that she wasn't the sort of person to be afraid. Could—could she possibly afraid of her boyfriend? I wasn't so sure, since we knew so little about these two's pasts.
"It kinda is." He shot back.
"It is not. Also, you're bleeding."
"I am?" He looked at his shoulder, as if he hadn't noticed. "Oh well. Anyways, it is. I mean, you can feel other people's emotions. That's kind of stalker-ish, dude."
I bit my lip, trying not to take him down with an angry retort of how he can feel people's blood.
"Hey, guys?" Fitz interrupted. "Sophie is about to be taken to the leader of the New Neverseen." If I was drinking something, I would've spat it out.
"The NEW Neverseen?" I asked. "That's a little sketchy." Fitz nodded.
"Apparently, the old, evil Neverseen was destroyed, and another version of it claimed to want to become a part of the Black Swan." He looked skeptical about it.
"We need to save Sophie." I decided. "This is a trap."
SOPHIE'S POV—
The blank white halls reminded me of Nightfall. I shuddered at the memory of my human parents being caught by Vespera.
"Are we there yet?" I asked Janson. He nodded. "Almost." I decided to count the seconds going by.
413 had passed before we entered a room. It was large and white, with some purple crystals embedded into the fissures. Three figures in cloaks waited for us in the middle.
"Ah, Sophie Foster, Nico di Angelo." The person in the front said. Her voice was friendly. I was kind of surprised, but being the detective I am, I heard the slightest tone of fake warmth in her tone.
"As you know by our faithful member, Janson Vacker, we long to change out ways." Wait. Vacker? Like, Fitz Vacker?
"Ah, we can see you are surprised by his heritage." The second figure on the back nodded. He sounded sympathetic, but a trace of coldness sent shivers down my spine.
"This Vacker has proven himself to be a loyal Neverseen member, far away from the clutches of Fintan and Gisela." The third said, her voice slightly misty. "We are like the Black Swan, a rebellious, separate group from the original Neverseen. We have similar views as Mr. Forkle had, and we wish to merge with the Black Swan. Glimmer did the same, and we would like to follow her ways." I really wanted to say yes, say that they could join the Black Swan, but then I quickly realized something.
They were being beguiled. One of them were a Beguiler. I decided to keep my thoughts and emotions in check and play along.
"I can see that you changed." I said evenly. "I'm sure that the Black Swan will see sense in letting you join."
"Very well, then, Ms. Foster." There was a hint of triumph in the second cloaked figure's voice. "However, we have another small request." I looked up. A shadow was obscuring the leader's face, but her features were sharp and stretched, giving the look of plastic surgery.
"And what is that?" Nico asked. His eyes looked a little glassy, but it must've been the light of the room. I could tell he was very much like a Shade, being the son of Hades.
"Kill Percy Jackson."
[hehe im so evil >:)))
