3rd Person—
"First of all, I thought he was dead?!" Grady pointed out. "How can someone who's dead interrupt their own funeral?!"
"Well, he's done it before. So has one of his friends." Keefe shrugged. Edaline and Grady exchanged bewildered looks.
"We thought he faded because he lost his powers—" Sophie started but got cut off by a buzz, which was coming from Grady's Imparter.
"Hello?"
"Lord Grady Ruewen, the Council requests Sophie Foster and Team Valiant's presence immediately." A voice of a councillor—Sophie wasn't sure which—replied. Grady's face immediately went Protective-Dad-Mode.
"I'll speak with her at once. Thank you, Councillor Derik." He slipped the Imparter back into his pocket.
"I'm sorry, Sophie. The Councillors—"
"Yeah, I know." Sophie muttered. "Can't we have a moment of peace for once?"
"I agree." Biana said, playing with her chocolate brown hair. "It's starting to become a pain in the ass." Everyone stared at her.
"What?" She frowned. "Do I have something on my face?"
"Did my little sister really say 'ass...?'" Fitz gaped. "Holy—" Everyone burst into laughter.
"Looks like Fitzypoo's sis is starting to get more mature." Keefe snorted with laughter.
"Language." Grady reminded them, but his tone was more joking than stern. "There are little children here." He pointed to Linh.
"Yeah," Tam agreed. "Language." Linh just scoffed.
"I can handle swear words!" She protested. "Just because you're a minute older than me doesn't mean you should baby me." Tam rolled his eyes, his bangs falling over his eyes again.
"I kinda wish we were normal teenagers..." Sophie murmured. "Without almost dying and all that." Keefe nudged her playfully, but a hint of empathy was in his eyes.
"I know, Foster." He whispered. "But at least I have you here, right?" Sophie nodded, a faint tint of pink on her cheeks.
"Besides, almost dying is much more fun with you guys," Fitz grinned, ruffling Biana's hair. She scowled.
"Don't do that to my hair!" She whined. "I just tidied it!" Fitz just laughed as she glared at him.
"Guys?" Grady tried to get their attention. "Back on focus please—" Wylie nodded.
"The Council summoned us, so we need to go."
Keefe groaned.
"But I want to spend more time with Fosterrrr—" He complained. Sophie pecked him on the cheek, making both of the blush slightly.
"I'm sure we won't be long." She assured him.
"I can't believe I have to see Stina again." Dex grunted. "Can I please put something in her drink?" Wylie shook his head, being the oldest and most mature out of all of them.
"We work as a team. That means no prank wars."
Keefe harrumphed at that while Dex just pouted.
"Killjoy." He muttered under his breath. Fitz was silent, his teal eyes gazing down at his hands.
"The rest of you can stay here and explain what happened with this Percy boy." Edaline offered. "I made extra mallowmelt." Tam, Linh, Fitz, and Keefe all perked up at that.
"Hell yeah!" Keefe cheered. Sophie put a hand to her heart in mock offense.
"Save some for me!" She elbowed him in the ribs. "You always eat it all and it's annoying—" Keefe barked out a laugh.
"Don't worry, Foster, I'll save you a slice and a kiss when you get back." Sophie blushed again when she heard the last part, but didn't protests.
"Sokeefe for the win~" Biana whispered as they prepared to teleport to the Council. Sophie's cheeks reddened even more when she heard that.
"Shut up!" She hissed, glancing around to see if Dex or Wylie heard anything. "I know we're dating, ok?! No need to rub it in." Biana just giggled.
"Just saying, you two are cute together~" She said in a singsong voice before skipping away to talk to Dex.
Sophie rolled her eyes, but a flicker of affection warmed her heart when she thought of Keefe. She missed him already, and...what was she thinking?! She wasn't in some sort of corny cliche romance story! She wasn't very romantic either, so what was she doing?
She huffed silently, but she couldn't push down the longing feeling she had. She was falling for him hard even when they were already dating.
And of course the Council and the Neverseen had to ruin their lives with their bullsh*t. Just what she needed.
She wondered what Percy was doing as she leaped off the cliff with Team Valiant by her side.
