Annabeth

[New cover! Like it?]

Two weeks later...

I couldn't believe he was gone.

Gone.

Gone forever.

Everything inside me shattered, leaving a numb coldness behind. I didn't want to eat, sleep, or do anything really. I just hugged my pillow and think about the future we could've had.

"Annabeth?" Piper whispered, tiptoeing into my cabin. "It's time for the shroud." I looked up at her splotchy face from crying and sighed. It was my boyfriend's burning, so of course I had to attend.

"I'm coming." I mumbled, wiping my face quickly. I had to be strong for the other campers. They couldn't see me like this.

Piper wrapped her arm around me and helped me up, and we slowly made our way to the arena.

Percy POV—

[didn't see that coming, did ya?]

I groaned. Everything around me hurt like Hade—I mean, Tartarus. It hurt like Tartarus.

"You're awake!" A voice whispered. I cracked open my eyes and immediately shut them. The light was burning into my eyelids.

"Wha—?" I croaked, surprised at my voice being so crackly. "Am I dead or something...?"

"Drink this." She slipped something down my throat, and I hungrily gulped it down.

...it tasted like fruit punch.

"What happened?" I rasped. "What am I doing here?" I felt a hand slide over my forehead.

"You're burning up." She murmured, ignoring my question. Well, she was right. My eyes were throbbing with heat.

"Oww..." I tried to sit up. "I feel like I've been stung by a pit scorpion—"

"Shh." She placed a finger on my lips. "It's going to be ok." I cracked my eyes open, and when they adjusted to the light, I was in a bedroom. A girl that looked around 13 or 14 with brunette curly locks and bright green eyes gently pushed me down.

"I'm Amy." She grabbed a towel and placed it over my eyes. Instantly I felt better, feeling my forehead cooling down rapidly.

"Water..." I choked out. "I need some water." She nodded and ran out the door. I shakily tried to get up and noticed that I was on a portable blow-up mattress.

"Here." Amy handed me a cup of water. I chugged it, feeling it rejuvenate my body.

"Thank you, Amy." I glanced at her. "I'm Percy." She frowned.

"Aren't you Percy Jackson?" She asked. "The kid on the news that got kidnapped and had a gun showdown with a guy?" I nodded, rubbing the back of my neck nervously.

"How long was I out?" I asked. She thought for a moment.

"I found you a week ago. Super pale, faded, and barely breathing." She ticked them off her fingers. "I have no idea who you were until I saw your eyes." I looked away uncomfortably.

"Faded?" I queried. She paled.

"Um...it's nothing." She said quickly. "And don't you stand up. You're still not better, that was just plain water." She scolded as I stumbled to my feet. I groaned as I slowly lay back down.

"You act like my girlfriend." I grumbled. Speaking of, where was she? "Where am I?" She bit her lip.

"I can't tell you. It's a secret." She blushed. I frowned, feeling for Riptide in my pocket.

"How is it that where you live is a secret?" I asked. "Unless I've been kidnapped again." I added under my breath.

"Look...are you human?" I stiffened. Uh oh.

"Um...kinda?" I mentally facepalmed, stupid, stupid, Seaweed Brain. Her eyes lit up.

"Are you a super-soldier like in the movies or something? Or are you part alien or elf or—"

"Wait, hold up. Did you say elf?" I raised a brow.

"Yeah, haven't you heard of the elves in Lord of the Rings—"

"Do you know Sophie Foster?" I interrupted. She froze, despair locking in her eyes.

"Yes." She said quietly. "She was my sister." I blinked.

"Was?" I repeated. She nodded.

"She's an elf. I know this must be crazy, but since you know about her, I guess you're an elf too." Her eyes suddenly widened with fright. "You're not with the Neverseen, are you?" I gagged.

"Hate those people, they kidnapped me once—"

"Like Sophie!" She blurted out, and then quickly covered her mouth. "Sorry." I looked at her sympathetically.

"Don't worry, I know about her." I assured her. "In fact, we're pretty close friends." She narrowed her eyes at me.

"You look sort of like Fitz, but you don't talk like him." She noted.

"Yeah. I'm not Fitz, although I do know about him." I looked around. "Where are your parents?"

"On a trip. I'm home alone. They left soon before I found you in our living room." I groaned.

"Of all the places I had to appear, it's in someone's random living room? Great. Just, great." I huffed.

"What happened to you, anyway?" My jaw went rigid.

"Your brain'll expand about a tenfold if I tell you." I muttered. She nodded thoughtfully.

"I'd like my brain not to be dead, thank you very much." She smirked. "I won't ask any questions if you don't." I sighed.

"Fair enough." I rubbed my eyes and yawned widely. "I'm beat."

"Get some rest. You haven't eaten in a week." She smiled and walked out of the room, leaving me to be alone with my thoughts.

I gazed up at the ceiling, wondering where Annabeth was and how far away from Camp Half-Blood was. I subconsciously twirled my pen in my fingers and played with the water in the bowl Amy gave me for my cooling patch.

"I got you some—" Her eyes widened when she saw I was playing with the water.

"Uhm..." I shoved the water back into the bowl. "Hi?" She furrowed her brows.

"You've got a lot to explain, Percy." She stomped over to me and put the soup in my lap.

"Are you a hydrokinetic?" She asked as I sipped the chicken broth she gave me.

"You could say that." I said vaguely, chewing on a lump of chicken.

"You're obviously not an elf." She pointed to the soup I was eating. "Elves are vegetarians." I nearly spit out my meal. Shoot, my cover was blown.

"Uh..." I frantically searched for an excuse.

"Plus, you're speaking perfect English, unless you're a Polyglot." She pointed out. Dam, was this kid a child of Athena?

"Uh, I am a Polyglot." I fibbed.

"Prove it." She crossed her arms.

"I'm a demigod who can speak Ancient Greek." I said in Greek. No way could she understand that. Her eyes widened.

"You're a what?"
