Chapter Twenty Three

" NO! No no no no! This can't be true! It's a trick of some kind! A con, a deceit, a massive hoax!", Blake screamed in disbelief. People standing in the hallway looked at him with concerned, understanding, eyes.

Blake held the doctor's collar.

"You've done something! You..you've killed her! ", he screamed at him. The doctor looked at him, his eyes widened in fear.

"Blake.. Please don't ", Kristine said, placing her hand on his shoulder and crying miserably. Eros, Mrs. Goodwin, and Mrs.Halter couldn't stop crying. They stood there, frozen on their tracks, unable to accept the fact of Lucy dying.

"THIS ISNT TRUE! It's a nightmare ", Blake shouted, yanking the doctor's collar and running into the operation theatre.

Lucy lay there, on the bed. Her long eyelashes rested gently upon her  cheeks, burns still prevalent in her hands, and scars and burns all over her face. Her once beautiful face was gone and now didn't move. It was still, silent as a stone, and the heart monitor beside her bed showed a still, single line. Blake went to her, and sat down beside her unmoving, silent, dead body. He touched her cheek gently, tears dropping from his blue eyes, and whispered. " Please come back, Lucy. You can't leave me, no! You just can't. We had so much to do together, so much to see, please. ", he begged, sobbing. The sight of his love so silent, the realisation that she no more existed had shaken his world to its core.

Blake dropped to his knees and cried. The next few moments were a private hell for him. He buried his face in his hands and screamed. He pushed his hands through his think blonde hair and yanked it so hard that he felt his roots cry in pain. He wished it was nightmare, that it wasn't happening, that Lucy had never left him. His blue eyes produced new sets of tears, before the previous ones could be wiped off. He shook Lucy, holding her by her arms, screaming for her to wake up. I can't imagine a life without you, Lucy. I can't live without you. He thought.

Mrs halter held Blake by his shoulder, unable to see his son in such a helpless state, as her own chest cried in pain seeing Lucy dead. Mrs Goodwin held Lucy's motionless hand, kissing it. Tears dropped from her brown eyes, as she spent her last moments with her daughter, her dead daughter. Kristine and Eros stood there, crying, remembering their friend, that gem in their treasure they will never be able to manage their life without. They all wished it wasn't happening, it was a shock to them.

Blake was sitting on his knees, silently. The pain of loosing Lucy was killing him alive. He could only see her face, her beautiful face, smiling. And just then it was replaced by her pleading eyes, those eyes he'd seen there in the bank, after the blast. Feelings of immense pain, sorrow, guilt and agony filled him. I wish I hadn't let her go, he thought. He blamed himself again and again, for all of this.

The world had shattered to pieces, and there was no light to be seen, in the eyes of the five of them present there.

As they layed Lucy's body in the coffin, all of them prayed for her beautiful spirit to rest in peace. But, Blake didn't. He screamed at the Gods in his prayers, pleading them to bring her back, pleading them to not take away his only love. Each one of their eyes were filled in tears, making their sight so bizzare. Blake went towards the coffin and dropped to his knees, beside Lucy 's motionless body. He took her hand in his, and whispered :

You werent meant to go. You can't. I love you, Lucy. And I always will", he said, as if making her a final, unbreakable promise. He kissed her forehead, and imagined her voice saying 'I love that'. He whispered softly, I know. He looked at her face, again and again, still wishing her to get up. He held her hand tighter, not wanting to let go, ever. Eros touched his shoulder, nodding, his eyes welled up in tears as well. Blake looked up at him, shaking his head, his blonde hair scattering on his forehead. His blue eyes bored into Eros' pleading him to let go off him, to let him be with his love.

" Let's go,Blake ", Eros saying, pulling him up ever so reluctantly,as more tears fell from their eyes. Blake's hand slipped from hers as he walked away from her, slowly, sadly.

Blake stared at Lucy's dead, unmoving body. The coffin was closed and slowly buried.

Finally, taking his love away from him. That moment shattered his heart, leaving him alone to suffer, cry, taking his love away from him, forever.

~After a few weeks ~

Blake sat down on his bed, and stared at Lucy's picture that lay in his hands, and thought about her.

There are certain people who come into your life as guardian angels and this feeling cannot be explained off words alone. It's a soul thing, a feel.

Lucy was one such person for Blake. She lighted his world, made miracles happen, formed the best chapters of his story. And, he was glad he got to know her,got to love her. He had to move on, learn to live without her. He had to accept that he can no longer hold her, feel her in his arms, no longer hear her sweet melodious voice that lightened up his days. Because that's life. It's the reality everyone has to live in. Lucy wasn't meant to die, she was just nineteen. But, you don't always get what you want. Because, "the world is not a wish granting factory".

Many people had told him to start over. But as great authors say, " life isn't a board game, and losing someone isn't really starting over. It more like, continuing without. "

Blake will always love her, because sometimes, and only sometimes when people say it's gonna be forever, they mean it. And Blake did. He misses her every moment. When he looks up at the sunny days, at the illuminated night sky, at the rain drops that fall. He misses her every time.

Life kept them apart, but love together. Love is beautiful. It might have left you scattered into pieces and ripped your heart. Dug deep down to those points where you don't want anyone to go. But, it's beautiful nevertheless. It's not just a word, not just four letters. When you come to think of it, it's so much more. It's an unbreakable bond, between two individuals. A promise which they never break, a debt which they never want to pay. Love is so much more. Love is Lucy and Blake.

Blake looked at her picture for the final time before getting up. He stared out of the window, straight into her room, which was unaffected. He wished he could see her like before, smiling back at him, or dancing in front of the mirror. He wished he could see the rainbows with her, as he looked up to the sky and whispered to it "I love you, Lucy ".

Blake exhaled slowly, perhaps feeling Lucy somewhere, they were joint by love after all.

They'll meet sometime, somewhere, somehow. But in the real world they would only meet, perhaps when,

Parallel ends meet.
