Chapter Seventeen
The next evening, I waited for Lucy so that we could leave for the function.
She came out, smiling. She looked beautiful in Indian. I'd never seen her wearing Indian, but now that I did, I realized she looked prettier. Her hair was tied in a simple bun, two curled strands coming out from either sides of her head. I stared at her in awe, as her brown eyes twinkled in joy. She sat down beside me.
"You look beautiful,"I said unable to take my eyes off her, as usual.
"Thank you," she said, smiling gently. "Let's go !,",she added and I pushed the accelerator.

I met Eros and Kristine in the hall, who had already arrived. Lucy stood by the entrance, ushering the guests in, with a smile.
"I love Lucy," I whispered to Eros. He looked at me in surprise, and then his face softened.
"Well, good you realized it soon enough. I had known it all along" he said, laughing.
Kristine looked at Eros and laughed.
"Soon enough," she quoted sarcastically. "Well, now we only have to wait for Lucy to realize it."
I nodded, wondering when that would happen.
"ONE DOWN ONE TO GO," they shouted in unison. I looked at them in surprise.

The function started in about half an hour. I looked at Heather. She seemed to be content, a small smile spread across her beautiful face. Though, I sensed sadness in her eyes, perhaps because of leaving her family. She was sitting at the middle of the hall her eyes fixed on the stage, occasionally talking to her relatives. She looked beautiful too. I realized Lucy resembled Lucy a lot. Though both of them were quiet different, they had this gentle, abiding nature .
"Blake!," Lucy called out."Our performance is next, come on!"
I looked at her, nodded, and got up to go backstage.

LUCY'S P.O.V
We were accompanied by a loud round of applause as soon as we entered the stage. We took our positions , looking at each other. The music started and we danced. Slowly, Blake slid his hand around my waist, and pulled me close to him. I looked into his eyes, and Kristine's words drifted into my mind.
I think you should get into a relationship now..
We danced around the stage, and I smiled at him, his handsome face close to mine. He smiled too, his blue eyes boring into mine and his perfect dimples forming a gentle depression on his cheeks. All the moments I'd spent with him drifted into my head. Kristine was right. I love Blake. I love floating in that blue sea of his eyes and wrapping myself in his warm shroud.
The music gradually stopped and we pulled away. I was unsure whether I should tell him now. Before I could jump to any conclusions, I was pulled by a guest.

I couldn't talk to Blake until dinner. The four of us sat down together, eating the heavy food. We talked , but I couldn't get my eyes off Blake. I stared at him, unsure of what to say or do. He looked at me occasionally, perhaps sensing my sudden odd behaviour.
Kristine and Eros went out for a while. I decided to talk to him.
"Blake?," I said.
"Yes?"
"There's something I wanted to tell you"
"Yeah"
"Blake, I-"
"Lucy!," Heather's friend called out to me. I turned. "Yes?"
"Let's go to Heather,"she said, pulling me. "She's calling"
I sighed and got up to leave after mouthing a 'sorry',

Heather and her friends sat in a big circle, laughing and talking. I couldn't participate in their conversation, my mind was fixated on the feelings I was experiencing for Blake.
"What's wrong?,"Heather whispered. I remained silent for some time, gathering myself.
"I love Blake," I blurted out, loud enough for her friends to hear. They stared at me in surprise, but got up one by one to give Heather and me our space .
Heather's eyes widened, but a smile crept across her face. She laughed.
"Oh, but I'd known it all along. I knew this would happen. God knows what took you so long, " she said, still laughing.
"Not funny," I replied.
"I know, I know, I'm sorry," she said, unable to control.
I sighed. "What do I do now?"
"Well, just tell him"
"I can't .I tried."
"Well, try harder," she explained is her prophetic words. I looked up at the ceiling, wondering what to do.

BLAKE'S P.O.V
"How do I tell her this?,"I asked Kristine and Eros.
"This is so exciting isn't it?," Kristine whispered to a Eros laughing.
"I can hear you both , you know," I replied, unimpressed .
"Okay, sorry. Just tell her this, it's not that complicated," Kristine said, looking at me as if it was insanely obvious.
"Yeah, be a man," Eros said, punching me lightly. I sighed and looked at the sky. The twinkling stars reminded me of her twinkling eyes, one in which I always get lost and struggle to find my way back.
Why is it so difficult to confess? They thought in unison.
~~*~~
Okay . :D Since I can't wait to tell you this, they DO confess in the next chapter ! And there's alot to come after that.
