13 | sulking
Taeyong was still at his part-time and currently checking the animals that are admitted in the veterinary. Doing it just made him think about Jaehyun when he told himself to stop. The man wouldn't possibly want him to 'take care' of him. A week passed really fast and Taeyong wasn't even able to get to know him more.
He must be really annoying.
The boy huffed and rolled his eyes, pouting, while he was feeding the rabbit inside the little room it has.
"I shouldn't really take this as a big deal," he said, "They're right. I just put myself in something I don't even know how things work. I just thought I could help...Do you guys think I'm annoying? Am I the most annoying hooman you've met? I do take care of everyone here, right? I even give everyone some time--"
"Uncle? Why are you talking to the animals?"
Taeyong looked by the door and saw a familiar little girl, wearing a cute pink outfit. The boy's frown became a wide smile. He gave a soft chuckle and asked the girl to come over. She happily went and the veterinarian carried her.
"Your father didn't tell me you'll be coming over," the boy uttered.
Luana shrugged, "It wasn't also planned. I just pushed Dada into the idea just now."
"Ohh. Well, how is school?" Taeyong asked as he continued feeding the animals with one hand.
"Nah..."
The older furrowed his eyebrows and hummed, "What do you mean by that?"
"Nothing really special. School is still school, uncle," she answered.
"Really? Are your grades good?"
The girl's eyes suddenly widened and looked at his uncle. She does know what it means when Taeyong asks about her markings. Well, atleast that's what she thought.
"Of course, uncle. I'm as good as you," she joked.
Taeyong laughed, "You're flattering me. You do that when you want somene."
"Maybe...maybe not"
"If you show me your grades, then I'll maybe buy you ice cream."
"Okay! I'll go and get it from Dada's drawer," she said.
The boy placed her down, ruffling her hair before she went out of the room. Taeyong then goes back to where he stopped. He sighed as he went to get and give some vitamins to others.
Why was he even bothered by someone he just met?
"Thinking about something?"
Taeyong hummed, "Luana's getting her card in your drawers, by the way. She might change her grades."
"You're bothered by that?" Taeil asked.
"It's just...something. As always, I'm making things a big deal again. I'm over exaggerating."
"Someone told you that?"
The boy pouted, "...No."
"Then what are you sulking about? No one even told you that you were exaggerating," Taeil uttered, crossing his arms.
"I was just assuming. I'm not everyone's kind of tea."
Taeil shrugged, "Most people like you, though. You got everything. There's possibly nothing you should be sulking about."
Taeyong felt like he was getting nagged at. It would even be embarrassing if he told Taeil that he's upset because of someone.
Also, how come most people like him when the person he likes doesn't?
He wasn't sad about it but it wasn't fair, in a playful way. It's his first time liking someone and this happened. He could have liked someone else, but Taeyong just found something within Jaehyun and he wants to keep finding him, if he ever has a chance.
"Loosen up," the older said.
Taeyong chuckled, "I'm not tensed, hyung."
"I guess, you just look uncomfortable."
"Uncle, here's my card!"
Storming into the room, Luana didn't even greet his father and went straight towards Taeyong. She proudly gave her card to his uncle which Taeyong accepted. The older looked at it and saw that she's been doing well academically, but he cheekily smiled at her.
"You didn't change anything, right?" Taeyong asked teasingly.
Luana frowned, "What? Really, uncle? You think the best girl in the world would do that? Of course, not!"
The older chuckled and nodded, "Okay, okay. We'll go and have ice cream later--"
What made him stop talking was his phone vibrating all of a sudden. Taeyong grabbed a hold of it and looked to see who was calling, which made his jaw to drop. It wasn't the person he was actually thinking about but it was Jaehyun's aunt. He'll take it.
"H-Hello? Yes, Ms. Jung?" he asked when he immediately answered the call.
"I know you're still on your job but can I ask you to come over? It won't take long."
"Yes, of course! I was actually planning to go and visit later but I was hesitating."
She softly laughed, "Now, you have an excuse. I'll see you later, Taeyong. Thank you..."
"Yes, thank you too!"
When the call ended, Taeyong has a big smile plastered on his face. Luana looked at him with disgust and had a feeling that they won't be able to grab ice cream later.
"We'll have ice cream tomorrow," the older told the little girl.
"But it's Sunday tomorrow," Luana said.
Taeyong nodded, "Yeah, I'll pass by your house."
"Pass by? You won't come and stay?"
The boy knelt infront of her while she was pouting and her arms crossed, "I'll come and play some other day, okay? I promise. I'll even tag someone along."
"What? Is it uncle's partner?" the girl asked.
Taeyong tried his hardest not to blush at the thought, instead, he laughed, "Just uncle's friend."
"I'm still here, by the way," Taeil suddenly uttered.
"Yeah, how 'bout play with your father?" the older asked, already packing up everything before he goes.
"I've been with dada ever since, uncle."
"And what do you mean by that, Ana?"
"Okay, I should get going. Have fun quarrelling!" Taeyong said and went out of the room, leaving the father and daughter behind.
Well, he can maybe get out of work even though he has twenty minutes in his shift. Taeil didn't even stop him so, it's all good he'll just make up for it some other day.
He immediately grabbed his bag inside the locker room and went out of the building, saying his byes to the employees and the pets that were still waiting for their turn in the clinic. He walked towards the sidewalk and took a taxi towards the hospital.
Taeyong doesn't know why he was asked to go there but hopefully, it'll be something he'll be happy about.
