Although it has been a few days, Jaehyun and Taeyong's relationship haven't changed a bit. It was still the cold and quite atmosphere. With the playful attitude he was showing, the boy knew the man still sees him as a stranger who keeps on sticking to him 24/7 and his self-proclaimed friend. Taeyong didn't really stopped, instead he felt more driven.
Thursday. The third day where Jaehyun goes to the psychologist again--the day that marks a week of Taeyong having immediate feelings toward Jaehyun. And the day where Taeyong finally gets to drive.
The boy was able to keep Johnny's car in one piece and has asked his mother to let him drive today. Taeyong was quite excited and hopefully, he won't wreck their car instead. Well, both of his parents have some trust in him. He better have some trust on himself today.
"Relax, Taeyong. You'll be good..." he told himself as looked at the stoplight up ahead. He tapped his finger against the leather steering wheel, waiting until the light turns green which has after a few minutes. He stepped on gas and gradually kept up his speed.
Taeyong was driving very casually but was very aware of things that he jolts too easily. He turns to the right direction, driving forward and murmured what his mother told him.
"...stop before the street," he said. He pulled up, parked just by the corner. His mother wants him to wait Jaehyun there. The man was very private, since he does see their humble house a safe place.
The boy was fine with it. He will respect whatever the man wants. The only thing he could get closer to him is getting his trust. He still doesn't know the whole story, and he won't try to even do anything to know, but he does assume Jaehyun just had a rough time. Surely, he's doing something wrong, maybe that's why Jaehyun treats him coldly. Or Jaehyun just hates his presence.
He wasn't much of a 'jack-of-all-trades' kind of person. But he does things that he already thinks that is good. Although, he was very much aware he's treating Jaehyun like a very fragile person.
What else could he do?
Snapping out of his thoughts, Taeyong saw Jaehyun walking down the street and towards him. He smiled as he rolled down the car windows. The man has his head down but when he looked ahead, he saw the boy waving at him.
Jaehyun was quite anxious today, he never liked being in a confined unfamiliar room. His aunt would comfort him, that's why he thinks he's much safer with her everytime he's going somewhere. This time, the warm smile the boy has, then again, made him feel safe. Somehow, Taeyong was able to calm him down and he wasn't aware of it. Unfortunately, Jaehyun didn't like how his heart was pounding against his chest again.
"Good morning," Taeyong greeted him cheerfully which Jaehyun followed. The man sat on the passenger's seat and closed the door. The boy rolled the windows up before he started the vehicle and drove, "Have you eaten breakfast?"
Jaehyun nodded, timidly.
"Your eyes...seemed puffy," the boy noticed, knowing that it was because he might've cried. Taeyong, as usual, felt worried.
The man looked away and hid his eyes from the boy, "I'm fine..."
That cut off their small conversation. Taeyong didn't try to ask more and quietly, cautiously, drove towards the main building. The awkward silence filled inside and Taeyong just didn't bother thinking about it. He would think they're getting somewhere.
Honestly, Taeyong was getting nowhere.
Knocking and opening the door, Taeyong walked in and saw his mother seated on her office chair, doing some paper works. He called Jaehyun to come in as well. The lady noticed them and was relieved to see them. She stood from her seat and went to hug his son.
"Good to see both of you. I was actually going to call you," the lady told Taeyong.
The boy furrowed his eyebrows, "Did I drive too slow?"
"I don't know. Maybe I was just too anxious. Anyway," she went to stood infront of Jaehyun with a smile on her face, similar to Taeyong's, "Nice to see you here again, Jaehyun. Do you want to start?"
The man nodded and sat down on the couch. Jaehyun was very quiet and it looked like he really had a bad night. He was very different from the past few days. Taeyong wanted to do something. If only he could do more.
"Taeyong, could you leave us for a few minutes?" his mother asked him kindly and Taeyong could only nod at her request. The boy walked towards the door and left.
Jaehyun was left inside with the boy's mother. He felt awful being here again. He hated how he felt lonely and hopeless, the same thing he felt last week. He was only here just because his aunt thought he could be "fixed" when he was worse than being broken by now.
"How are you?" she asked.
The man looked away, "Nothing new...I just feel like, day by day, I feel worse."
She hummed, "How do you feel having a companion? Is Taeyong...doing alright?"
Jaehyun thought Taeyong could be a pain-in-the-ass with the type of attitude. An outgoing and full-of-energy kind of person wouldn't be his cup of tea. People like his scares him and the first meeting they had wasn't the most ideal. He wouldn't have thought someone would stalk him and wouldn't leave him alone. In reality, Taeyong is the only person who could make his uncontrollable emotions at peace.
The man wouldn't tell those things that easily, or to just anyone, so he didn't answer it.
She chuckled lightly, "Right, I forgot. I'm sorry. I know it's hard to tell others your feelings, but whatever you tell me, it stays inside this room and I won't tell anyone about it. You can tell me anything but I don't want to push you into the idea...but Jaehyun, what matters to me is your true feelings so we'll know what to do."
Jaehyun doesn't know what to say but she trusts her because his aunt trusts her.
"He's...comfortable to be with."
It came out very softly and almost like a whisper, his eyes didn't even dare to give the doctor a glance. Those were the only words he could say and his heart was pounding like he's running a thousand miles a minute. The thought of Taeyong hearing that phrase makes Jaehyun want to run out of the building.
He would've thought he would receive a laugh, but he could only see a nod from the lady.
"He better not do anything stupid to you then," she joked, "Alright. This session won't be too long, just like last week. But I will give you a homework to do. Taeyong can be your partner if you want."
Jaehyun raised an eyebrow, "Homework?"
She nodded, "First thing you have to learn is to greet people."
"Greeting?"
"Like 'good morning's, 'goodbye' or even 'see you tomorrow'. Practicing your social skills would help you lessen some anxieties. I won't be pressuring you and I wouldn't put a deadline to it. But I do want some feedback next session, okay? Is that okay, Jaehyun?"
The man wasn't panicking, but he was uncertain if he can do anything. He was nervous, to say the least.
"I'll be there to guide you, that's my job. My son is always there to help you. He's been very committed and will support you in anything. He's been very fond of helping people so I understand why he has a comfortable presence," she said softly, "Okay?"
Jaehyun slowly nodded, "Okay..."
Greeting someone isn't that hard, right?
