"You cheated!"
"Please! As if someone with my skill would need to cheat against a dragon like you!"
Glory worriedly glanced around at the dragons hidden among the trees that were very obviously watching Deathbringer and Knifeslice go off at each other. The queen focused on her bodyguard, who was a few words away from exploding into extreme assassin mode.
She walked to the two NightWings and stood next to them so that if you connected their snouts with an invisible line, it would form a perfect triangle. The RainWing thought that just maybe, her presence would redirect Deathbringer's attention to her so that he could get the hint that the verbal fight was getting out of hand.
Moons, was she wrong. It was almost like she had turned into a ghost.
What even are they arguing about? He is such a hypocrite, he complained about Tsunami but now... look and behold.
"I know you kicked that ash in my direction, if it wasn't for you, I would be the most successful assassin our tribe would have ever had!" Knifeslice growled as his face got dangerously closer to Deathbringer's.
The queen's bodyguard scoffed and growled back, "Excuses! Pathetic ones at that, you and me both know that you would have been the worst assassin in our tribe's history."
Glory's head tilt to the side in confusion, but she managed to keep her scales a cool lilac color. It frustrated her to not know what was going on, or better yet, why anything had to go on at all.
"Will somebody, anybody, explain what this is all about?"
Her words were met with no response from Deathbringer or Knifeslice, instead, the second NightWing that accompanied Kinfeslice approached her with an explanation.
"I thought the stories were exaggerating, but I guess they really do hate each other.I wasn't born at the time, but it's the one story that literally everybody knows. I'm guessing they're arguing because of the knife throwing competition from many years ago. The winner of the competition would proceed to be trained as an assassin by Quickstrike."
"Given, everybody also knew Quickstrike would only train her son, but this guy over here demanded a challenge, kinda like a queen's challenge. If he won, he would replace Deathbringer as the next assassin. He obviously lost, but he swears Deathbringer threw volcanic ash in his eyes right before he threw the last knife," the NightWing explained with an amused tone.
Glory was finally able to see the situation in a better light, and underneath it all, she felt a spark of pride at Deathbringer's accomplishment. She highly doubted that he would ever do something like that, and therefore she found the argument in front of her plain stupid.
She turned to look at the NightWing next to her, and saw that she was watching Deathbringer and Knifelsice argue as if it were some kind of show meant to entertain her.
"And you are...?"
The young NightWing turned to look at Glory with an apologetic look on her face and gladly introduced herself. "I'm Dreamcatcher, nice to meet you."
Dreamcatcher's body scales were the average NightWing black, but her wings had an ombré that started with a strange light blue that then faded into pitch black. She only wore two pieces of jewelry, which were a moonstone necklace and an earring with a dangling black stone on her right ear.
Glory nodded at her and was about to reply when a particular loud yell made the scales on her feet flash a bright yellow out of surprise.
"I DEMAND A REMATCH!"
Oh come on, Deathbringer would never go and-
"I gladly accept."
Seriously?
"Deathbringer, we don't have time for-"
The queen was once again ignored by the one dragon she thought would always pay attention to her every word and movement. On a regular basis, she found his constant pestering really annoying, but today was different in the sense that it was the one day she needed him to stay focused on what she needed from him.
"Me, you, here, sunset," Deathbringer said confidently with a smug smirk.
Glory couldn't help but roll her eyes at the thought of having to come back and listen to two cocky and over-prideful NightWings arguing over knives, out of all things.
"If you two are done bickering like a pair of dragonets, then we should part ways. I have more important matters to attend to," Glory announced as she turned away from the scene and jumped on a vine bridge.
She saw Deathbringer huff a cloud of smoke in Knifeslice's face before joining her on the bridge.
The nosy crowd of RainWings and NightWings remained silent throughout the whole thing, and the queen couldn't figure out whether that was a good or bad thing.
Glory didn't say a word as she and Deathbringer flew and jumped into the trees back to the royal pavilion.

Hi everybody!
I know it's been a little while, but don't worry, I'm still here, just kind of quiet.
I hope everyone is doing well, and if not, I hope this chapter made you feel a little better. Although it is a bit more on the darker side rather than the cute shipping moments side.
I'll try to get back to that soon.
OC this chapter is:
