Glory looked through the crate of guavas in front of her and picked three of them.
All of them were fat and juicy, just what the queen needed right now.
She flapped her wings a few times and settled herself at the center of a sun-time platform.
Glory bit into the biggest guava and a smile spread across her face.
"Don't forget to chew. It would be embarrassing if if you started choking out of nowhere," Deathbringer said from next to her.
The queen looked into his eyes and intentionally popped the rest of the guava in her mouth and then swallowed... without chewing it.
Deathbringer's eyes widened and he started to shake Glory when she began coughing uncontrollably.
"What did I say? What did I say? Spit it out! Spit it out right this instant!"
Glory's coughing suddenly turned into laughter, and he let go, stunned.
"Wait... you tricked me!" He exclaimed.
The queen smirked and took a bite of her second guava.
"Right back at ya," she said smugly.
Before the bodyguard could retaliate, a RainWing landed in front of them, a frightened look in his eyes.
He bowed hastily and Deathbringer was back into the serious bodyguard.
Glory eyed the RainWing with a worried glance and wacked her brain for his name.
Pineapple? Sunshine? No... it's... oh yeah.
"Leaf, what brings you here?" She asked and stood up.
Leaf swallowed and his talons wouldn't stop fidgeting.
"It's, it's the NightWings your majesty. They're, like, in a frenzy!"
Deathbringer walked up to Leaf and towered over him. "What do you mean by they're in a frenzy?"
Leaf nodded and explained. "There's lots of them coming to village. They look scared, but there's others... they're mad! We're trying to hide in the huts but they keep asking to come in and, and I was the only one that came over here. We're scared your majesty! We don't know what's going on."
Glory's face hardened. "Thank you, Leaf."
The queen looked up into the trees and called out, "Branch and Pink! Go and set the hatcheries and wingery into lock down. Now! Everyone else stay close."
Glory could tell that Deathbringer wanted to argue about her knowing about the secret guards, but she had more important things to do.
The RainWing Queen took off from the platform, tossing her guava away and heading full speed to the main village.
Deathbringer stopped her once they got closer. "Rule one, don't leave my side. Rule two-"
"Don't break rule one," Glory finished for him.
Deathbringer grinned and Glory gave him an eye roll, but she added a small smile in return.
When they approached the village, there were no RainWings in sight. Not a color changing scale to be seen in any direction.
All the dragons on the main sun-time platform were NightWings.
There were some flying in from above, and there were only two emotions visible, just like Leaf had said, they were either scared or angry.
Glory took a minute to think and perched herself on a branch.
They looked as if they were... running from something.
She turned her head to Deathbringer. "Any ideas?"
Her bodyguard was analyzing the scene with eagle-like eyes.
"No, but don't do anything crazy that I have to come in and save you."
The queen snorted but said nothing as she left her place in the trees and swooped down.
The NightWings spread out immediately, leaving a space where Glory and Deathbringer could land.
There were whispers and louder conversations all over.
Glory couldn't help but over hear several.
"You think she'll stop her?"
"Nah, but maybe he can."
"Maybe if she dies, I can be the next queen!"
"Ha! As if. If she does, that will be me."
"You seriously think that traitor will let anything touch the queen?"
"No, but then again, it's his-"
"Shhh! She's coming!"
Glory's scales were fighting to turn a dark green, but she kept her emotions in check.
Dark purple with a shimmering gold covered her entire body, and she didn't let them falter for a second.
Those whispers... they were so confusing.
What could be beyond those trees that
was causing such an uproar?
Slowly, she made her way to the front of the crowd. Her chin was always up, and she made sure that her wings were slightly pointed out to make even more space.
Deathbringer never left her side, and he had that super handsome, yet super serious face that Glory was starting to feel herself grow on.
But obviously, she would never say that aloud.
With a deep breath she settled her thoughts and faced forward.
At least ten more NightWings came flying at full speed in her direction. They were all panicked and didn't know where they were going, only that they had to get away.
Glory's eyes widened and she ducked at the same time Deathbringer threw himself in front of her with his wings spread wide.
The incomers swerved to the left or the right as soon as they saw the queen's bodyguard.
One of them didn't move in time, and one of her horns grazed Deathbringer's side.
The unknown NightWing's eyes widened as she saw what she had done, and before anyone could stop her, she flew up into the sky and disappeared.
"Oh my bloody moons, I feel like there's something wanting to kill me today. Quite annoying," Deathbringer casually said as he inspected his wound.
He lifted his left wing and ducked his head underneath to have a better look.
Glory awkwardly stood there, not wanting to say something wrong in front of her subjects.
She took a few steps to see how bad the scratch was, and her eyes met Deathbringer's.
Her smirked and raised an eye-ridge.
"Aww, the queen is worried about me, how sweet!"
Glory huffed and rolled her eyes.
"Keep dreaming Deathbringer," she said.
"Oh trust me, I will," he winked at her and let his wing fall back to his side.
Glory ignored his comment and asked, "Is it bad though? And I mean life threatening bad, not RainWing description bad."
Her bodyguard shook his head.
"Nah, it's not bad. Just a small scratch. I can bandage it up later."
"Good, now come on. I want to see what's making everyone freak out."

Anyway, thank you for taking your time to read, vote, and comment. You guys lighten up my day, big time.
