Deathbringer followed Glory as they flew back to the RainWing village with a frown.

He had no idea what had just happened, but if it was big enough to leave his queen  unsettled, then it was for him too.

Infinity, along with Riptide and Tsunami, flew right behind him.

There was silence the whole way back to the village, mostly because Glory had still not explained why the matter concerned her.

Deathbringer wasn't stupid. He knew he wasn't, maybe he acted like it, but he really wasn't. There's just a fine line between stupidity and ignorance.

When the first few huts began to appear, the NightWing bodyguard noticed his queen become jittery. He looked behind and saw the other three dragons a few tails behind, far enough that a conversation wouldn't reach their ears.

Deathbringer caught up with Glory easily and flew beside her for a few seconds before he spoke.

"It's going to be okay, you know that, right?"

She turned her head to look at him, and like always, her stunning emerald eyes took his breath away. It had always been her eyes, always. When he first met her, he knew she wasn't an IceWing because of her eyes. They were just too green, too beautiful to belong to a random IceWing.

"I know," she whispered softly.

They finally landed on a platform near the center of the village that led to the vine bridges, which then connected to the other platforms.

Before their companions behind them could notice, Deathbringer leaned in and nuzzled Glory's cheek affectionately.

He grinned when she nuzzled him back since she wasn't the type of dragon to show affection often. A few seconds later they heard Tsunami, Riptide, and Infinity land behind them on the platform.

"Glory, I know I'm not on your best side at the moment, but could you tell us what's the problem," the SeaWing princess asked.

Deathbringer rollled his eyes at Tsunami's question. He still didn't understand why Glory had stopped their fight earlier. If you asked him, a few punches and scratches would fix the attitude this spoiled princess had going.

His queen turned around and stared directly into Tsunami's eyes.

"Some RainWing sprayed venom on another by accident and-"

"Ouch," Riptide interrupted.

They all looked at him and the scales on his face seemed to darken in color.

"Sorry, sorry, go on," he insisted with a cheeky smile.

"Well, Grandeur used her venom to stop the effects of the other, and it worked. Which means..."

Deathbringer raised an eye ridge at the way Glory ended her sentence.

The queen smirked at him and whispered, "Shh, let her use her brain for once."

He had urge to chuckle, but had to settle for a smirk instead.

She's never going to get it.

"So that other RainWing could possibly be another relative, wow. And here we thought you would only find Jambu and Grandeur," Tsunami concluded, oblivious to Glory's remark.

The smirks on the queen and the bodyguard disappeared as if by magic.

Dang it.

"Yeah... exactly. Congratulations, Tsunami, we now consider you to be slightly above average in the smart scale," Glory sarcastically said as they began to walk into the village through the vine bridges.

"Really?"

Deathbringer shook his head at the sound of optimism in the SeaWing's voice.

"Nope. You're still in the average or below section of that scale," Deathbringer couldn't help but state.

Tsunami's growl only caused him to chuckle even more.

I still don't know how Riptide does it, she's practically a rock. An angry and over aggressive rock.

Deathbringer looked around out of his bodyguard and assassin habit to make sure there weren't any secret enemies hiding around.

Glory might take it is a game, but she just didn't really understand Deathbringer's head.

For the first time in years, he had found someone to care about. Someone he loved with everything he had... he was not going to loose her to some random assassin.

Every shadow had to be carefully inspected, and every scent had to be meticulously analyzed.

Thankfully though, today seemed to be a sunny day with no chances of dragons trying to hurt Glory.

Which was very much appreciated. Although he knew he played the cold-hearted bodyguard well, it was nice to enjoy nature once in a while.

The colorful rainforest birds fluttered around as they sang to the day with their melodic cries. The sun was making its way to the highest position in the sky, and since there were little to no clouds present, the day was as bright as Glory's smile.

Deathbringer saw that Glory had stopped walking and he looked up to see what could have caused her to suddenly halt.

Glory's gaze was focused upwards where her personal suntime platform was, and it was almost like he had licked one of those poisonous frogs that gave you hallucinations.

Talking to Grandeur was another female RainWing, but she looked almost exactly like Glory. She was slightly larger in size, and there were certain features that didn't match up with Glory's, but they were practically the exact same.

If they stood next to each other and he saw them from far away, he would think that they were twins.

But this stranger was obviously older than Glory. Maybe even old enough to be...

"She can't be, can she?"

Deathbringer turned his head and saw that Glory was staring at the platform with anxious eyes.

He gently nudged her forward as he said, "We can't be sure and we shouldn't make assumptions, it-"

"Hey, Glory I think that's your mother," Tsunami blurted obnoxiously from the back.

"Alright, that's it, I'm done with this stupid SeaWing."

Deathbringer didn't hesitate as he turned around and jumped on the blue dragon that was the reason for many of his outbursts.

His fist was a feather's width from her face when he was dragged away from her by Riptide.

"Hey!"

"Not the time mate," Riptide replied with good reasoning.

Deathbringer growled and was about to break free when he locked eyes with Glory.

She looked so... sad, and that hurt him more than anything else. He took in a deep breath and released it slowly.

Focus you useless lizard, focus.

"Okay, fine, but your girlfriend needs to learn how to shut up," the ex-assassin commented as he walked past Riptide.

"We'll just go somewhere in the village while you guys get that sorted out. Just send someone to get us before nightfall, we won't go far," Riptide said as he led a fuming Tsunami to the other side of the platform, which is where the bridge to the main part of the village was.

Deathbringer looked around a second later and realized that his sister was nowhere to be found. Through all the fighting and arguing, she had slipped away into the trees.

The NightWing turned around and approached his love. It was just the two of them, alone.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have let my emotions get the best of me," he apologized sincerely.

She shrugged him and gave him a halfhearted eye roll.

"Oh no problem, it's not like you completely exploded in front of everyone and almost beat up a royal SeaWing," she sarcastically answered.

Deathbringer smirked and said, "I definitely didn't. The simple idea of it, Glory, I'm offended. How could you think so low of me?"

Glory chuckled and that's the only thing it took for Deathbringer's heart to beat faster.

"Come on, we've got this. If we can handle my mother and my sister, we can handle whoever it is up there," he insisted as they walked forward.

His queen looked at him and then back up to where Grandeur and that dragon were.

"Yeah, we've got this."

An update, whaaaaaat.

It's been ages, I know, I'm sorry. Inspiration has been running low lately.

So how's life?

Oh and umm, I watched The Notebook last night and I was a big mess. I cried as if my dogs had died. Well I cried a lot and it wasn't pretty. My kicked me out of her room and called me crazy too.

But yeah, hectic times. Procrastinating homework left and right and doing the same old shhh every day.

Not much to announce, just that the third book in The Color of Night series is now 3 chapter in its making. But you probably won't see those for a while.
