Deathbringer grinned at the sight of his queen laughing, and the love in his heart grew a little more.

Just like it did every day.

They got to laugh for a few more seconds before Infinity went back to her usual serious self.

"Now, the actual reason I'm here-"

"You came to ask us where Jambu was since he left to go get more strawberries for you but you're worried because he's taking too long."

Deathbringer couldn't help but tease his little sister, he was in a good mood.

She gave him one of her worst glares yet. "Looks like we found the family's comedian."

Deathbringer smirked up at her. "Ding-ding! Winner chicken dinner, as Clay would say."

Infinity's face turned into a canvas painted completely in confusion.

"Who's Clay? Do I- ack, never mind, doesn't matter," Infinity paused to organize her thoughts, "I was just going to tell you that Mother wants you and your girlfriend back at the hut."

He frowned at the mention of his mother, but nonetheless said, "Do you know why?"

Infinity shook her head. "Nope, she just said it was important."

"We'll be there anyway, and just so you know, this girlfriend has a name," Glory said with a small huff.

"She does?! Oh no! Please forgive me your almighty and powerful highness," Infinity exclaimed with fake remorse.

The queen rolled her eyes at the hybrid's sarcasm but tiny smile formed on her face.

Deathbringer shook his head at their exchange and looked at the dragonet on his back.

She was a small little thing with lavender and baby blue scales. The bodyguard stared into her eyes, which were the color of Jade.

"What about them though?"

The girls stopped their little bickering to give him their attention.

"The wingery is at the other side of the village, and we can't bring them with us either," Deathbringer elaborated.

"I can take them! I was going back to that side of the village already too."

Five sets of eyes looked at Jambu, who jumped down from the trees sporting his distinguished pink scales.

The two little dragonets seemed to immediately recognize him.

In fact, Deathbringer noted that Jambu was quite popular with the whole RainWing tribe.

"Problem solved, now let's go," Infinity proclaimed as she took off into the trees' shadows.

"Hey, wait! Don't you wanna say goodbye to Jambu first?" Deathbringer yelled.

Infinity urned back around and simply said, "No," before making herself disappear again.

The queen and her bodyguard snickered before leaving a puzzled Jambu alone with the two RainWing dragonets.

The tip of Deathbringer's tail tapped the floor rapidly, a habit that he wasn't fond of.

He was supposed to be stealthy, agile, and patient. Yet here he was, the best ex-assassin in Pyrhia, tapping his tail out of pure nervousness.

"If she says one more hurtful thing to you or your sister, I'm kicking her out," Glory told him with a determined look.

He nodded, knowing that he would stutter and make weird noises with his voice if he spoke.

He didn't understand why he was so nervous all of a sudden. It was just his mother.

Yeah, who had presumably died years ago and just walked back into my life trying to take me away from the only other dragon I cared about since her death.

I just need to... calm down.
Whatever that means.

Glory and Deathbringer decided to sit together in silence, enjoying each other's company while waiting for Infinity to bring out Quicsktrike.

Deathbringer could hear hushed voices and the shuffling of large leaves on the cot that Quicsktrike was resting as she got up.

A minute later, Infinity pushed open the curtain as she simultaneously helped her mother walk.

The NightWing bodyguard stood up, his muscles tense and somewhat stiff.

The light of the evening sun shone through the few windows in the healer's hut, giving the inside of the hut a natural, soft glow.

Despite the warmth that Deathbringer felt on his scales from the sun's rays, there was an even stronger tension in the air.

It was freezing cold, and it held the room and the dragons in it with a tight grasp.

With as much care as she could use, Infinity helped Quickstrike sit down on the floor.

Deathbringer remained standing up, knowing it was impossible for him to sit down right now.

Silence ruled over the room for a few minutes, no one dared to speak their thoughts.

"I've decided to stay," Quicsktrike announced.

Deathbringer blinked and let his mouth fall open a little, just a little.

His mother wasn't looking at any of them, her eyes were on the floor as she absentmindedly made random circles with her claws on the wooden floor.

No one said anything, for Quicsktrike had let her last word hang in the air, indicating that there was more to what she was going to say.

Deathbringer suddenly felt a tail twine with his own, and he thanked the three moons that he had met Glory and fallen deeply in love with her.

That was when his mother proceeded to continue.

"I thought about what you said, Deathbringer, and you're right. I was being selfish, and I'm sorry. I told you I was going to be a better mother, but all I did was to try and force you to come with me when I knew that you clearly didn't want to. I should have known that things were going to change, it was stupid of me to try and force them to remain the same."

Quickstrike glanced up quickly and met his eyes for the smallest fraction of a second before she looked down again.

Deathbringer saw a single emotion in his mother's purple eyes, and that was pure guilt.

He slowly walked toward her and sat down next to her. She didn't move an inch, her ear twitched, but that was it.

The NightWing bodyguard wrapped his wings around his mother.

In that hug, he wanted to express to her that he understood. Deathbringer couldn't quite forgive yet, but he could understand.

Quickstrike returned the hug, and his eyes
widened when he felt her tears on his shoulder scales.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," she sobbed.

Guess who's back?

Me!!!

And Glorybringer Tuesday too. Ofc.

I know I've been.... absent lately.
I missed I think two or three weekly updates, but I promise to make it up to you people some way.

With all the chapters being erased, and my finals coming up, it was just hard to find a way to keep up.

I had to rethink the last parts of the story all over again, and it was difficult because I could not remember everything I had written down.

But I managed to write two more chapters, so I think I'm finally back on track.

Another thing, on chapter 19, I never mentioned the name of the dragonet Deathbringer carried on his back.

I described her on this chapter, so now you guys can give her a name!

So far, I know that

@AddieBird wanted to name her Starlight
and
@CactusQibli wanted to name her Peach

If you want to vote from those two or make up your own that's completely fine!

Next Tuesday I will post the 'winner' and maybe we can get to see Guava and his friend again in another chapter.

IM OUT FOR SUMMER TOOOOOO

which means, I can finally get to work on the human Glorybringer AU I dreamed about all those months ago!!

So many more things are coming up that I can't wait to share, but everything will happen at its pace.

Thank you to everyone who asked if I was okay! I am now, and I really appreciate your concern for my wellbeing, I love you all so much!

Okie Dokie

What's your go-to summer song?

-Sofi
