Deathbringer checked the trees for any signs that could tell him in which direction Glory had flown off to.

He soon found a few branches that were missing several leaves, and the ones that had managed to hold on were slightly bent.

She went north to the RainWing village.

The loyal bodyguard took off, following the trail he had so cleverly found.

He checked the main village first without any luck.

Maybe if I go to higher place I can get a better view.

The highest place that Deathbringer could go to without being blocked by trees was the queen's sun-time platform.

Glory was never there, considering that she almost never took sun-time, so the thought of her being in that exact place never crossed his mind.

When he saw her from the distance, with her sad thinking face and her dull scale colors, it felt like someone had grabbed his heart and then dropped it into the beyond.

Falling.

Falling into nothingness.

Glory looked up at him and when their eyes met, his heart finally reached the bottom and shattered like thin glass.

There was a horrible feeling deep inside Deathbringer that was caused just by seeing his queen so upset.

After what felt like he had been swimming in an infinite sea, he finally reached Glory.

There was a knowing look in her emerald eyes, and she looked like she had suffered a hundred battles at the mercy of Scarlet's claws and still made it out alive.

"What's wrong?"

It may have seemed like Glory had been fine, she wasn't crying, it wasn't like her to cry.

But at his words, something broke in her.

No, she didn't cry.

His queen was too strong for that.

So then how did he know that she was so upset and hurting?

The answer was Glory's actions.

She wrapped her wings around him and buried her head in the crook between his neck and shoulder.

Deathbringer, knowing that Glory wasn't a big fan of touching others, tentatively hugged her back.

"Please don't leave," she begged.

He tensed at that disgusting word.

Leave.

How could he leave?

How could he ever leave her behind?

"I won't."

Glory pulled away and her sad eyes stabbed at Deathbringer's soul.

"You won't? Your mother, she-"

Deathbringer grabbed her talons and held them in his as he softly chuckled.

"Please, my queen. Don't be like those cliche characters you read about in your scrolls."

"Wait, I'm not, how-"

The NightWing raised an eye ridge in his heroic way.

The queen shut up and let him continue.

"My mother has always had this way of thinking that she was right all the time. Quickstrike thinks she can turn everything to her direction, and most of the time she can. But I don't think she, or even you, realizes how much I love you."

His queen's scales changed to a pretty rose pink near her ears, and Deathbringer congratulated himself.

He was the reason she was blushing, and he was the reason why she was at a loss for words.

So he continued, "I can't leave you, Glory. Even if they promised me a crown and gold, or the option of never being hated by my tribe, I still wouldn't leave you. How could I ever leave a piece of my heart behind?"

Glory only stared at him with an emotion he couldn't describe. Yet, whatever that emotion was, it made him feel whole. Like a dragon who has finally found a home after looking for a hundred years.

Now, Glory was pink all over, and it was a vibrant shade too.

She leaned in, but instead of kissing him, she did something that he thought was ten times better.

The queen rested her head on his chest and said, "Thank you."

He felt that simple 'thank you' energize him completely with love. Deathbringer's heart was beating furiously against his chest, for his body was too small to contain the great love he felt for his queen.

Without hesitating, Deathbringer wrapped Glory in his wings and hugged her close and tight.

"Thank you for being the only dragon that has made me feel truly wanted," she said with what he knew was the purest honesty she had.

"And I will make sure you feel that way for the rest of my life if you let me," Deathbringer confessed.

Glory tilted her head so that they could see each other eye to eye.

"Deathbringer, are you proposing already?"

There was a smug humor in her voice, and Deathbringer could feel his cheeks heating up.

"I... uhh... yes? No? Do you want to- I mean, whaaaaaaaaat?"

Glory laughed, and he couldn't help but join that beautiful and carefree sound.

"I love you, Deathringer."

He smiled at her and kissed her forehead.

"I love you, Glory."
