~14~

Deathbringer patted Infinity's back as he pulled away.

She looked up at him and quickly glanced down.

"Thanks," she mumbled.

"You're welcome little sis," he replied with a playful grin.

Infinity rolled her eyes and shoved him none too gently.

He shoved her back and laughed at her deadpan expression.

"Ouch, oh my moons. Call the healers, I'm hurt. I'm bleeding inside and I think I'm going to die," she sarcastically said.

"Adorable," Deathbringer laughed.

"What, did you say?"

"You're adorable," he answered easily.

"You're dead," Infinity stated.

She jumped to him, but Quickstrike got in between them. To not hit her own mother, Infinity turned and rolled on the floor, eating dirt as she went.

Deathbringer burst into laughter, and Quickstrike even managed to crack a small smile.

Infinity glared at them and spit out a leaf.

"Are you two done fighting? We have to move on," Quickstrike said after laughing with her son and daughter.

"Yeah, let me go get Glo-"

Deathbringer's mouth hung open when he saw that his queen wasn't where she had been a minute earlier.

"Ugh, yes! Thank you! I'm tired of this tree-filled place. I can practically hear the ocean calling to me," Infinity said with a longing look.

A little warning bell went off in Deathbringer's head.

"Wait, where exactly are we 'moving on' to?"

"Home," Quickstrike said.

"You know, well you don't know, but we're going back to our island," Infinity added.

"You're going to like it there, son. It's spacious and plentiful on food, a really nice place."

Deathbringer felt his stomach tighten in a hard knot.

Home.

Their home.

Not mine.

"I... you never said you came here to take me away."

"I believe I did, when you first encountered us yesterday."

Deathbringer shook his head in denial, "I thought you meant it as an empty threat. Mother... I can't go."

Quickstrike frowned and there was a determined look in her eyes.

"Son, it would be best if you came with us. After Deep died, our life hasn't been the same. Don't you understand? We need you, Deathbringer."

The NightWing bodyguard sighed, knowing that his mother wouldn't give up.

"Quickstrike, I just can't go. You say you need me. But I need Glory. I told you yesterday, she's everything to me. But at the same time you're my mother..."

The NightWing raised an eye ridge. "Then it's clear what you will have to do."

Deathbringer scrunched his snout in disgust at the realization of what his mother just implied.

"It's either her or us," Infinity whispered with a faraway look in her eyes.

It was easy to figure out that the hybrid wanted to be anywhere but there.

Deathbringer growled and the spikes on his spine raised.

"You can't make me choose, you can't. You just can't!"

Quickstrike eyes weren't dangerously close to spilling tears like Deathbringer's were.

They were sure of what his decision would be, and it ticked the bodyguard off.

She thinks I'm going to pick her. But she doesn't know...

"I'm not making you choose. You will choose on your own. Tonight, we'll be waiting for you at the northeast side of the rainforest. You don't come, we will leave."

Quicstrike turned without a second glance and made her way along the rainforest floor.

Deathbringer glared at his mother with all the betrayal he felt inside.

She can't make me choose. I can't... I just can't. She shouldn't have even bothered to come look for me in the first place.

Deathbringer had been so focused on Quickstrike, that he hadn't noticed his sister.

She was still standing there, looking at him with what he knew was pity.

Infinity's purple eyes were soft and understanding, very unlike Quickstrike's cool and confident ones.

"Listen, it's not hard to read your mind. And yes, I have the greatest mind reading powers in all of Pyrhia," she said with a different tone than usual.

Deathbringer's eyes widened in shock.

"Please, don't tell me you actually-oh my moons! From now on, I'll have to warn you if I use sarcasm against you," Infinity rolled her eyes, but there was a trace of a smile on her face.

Deathbringer chuckled softly at his stupidity.

"Yeah, sorry. My bad."

His sister laughed, "I don't have powers or any weird abilities, but what I meant... is that I know who you're going to stay with."

There was a silence that followed her words.

A silence that had a sound.

"So, good luck. You both seem really good for each other."

Infinity patted his shoulder and was only able to take two steps before Deathbringer grabbed her and hugged her close.

"Thanks, little sis," he said.

"Uhh, yeah, yeah. I'm the best dragon in the whole world, I get it."

The Sea-NightWing hybrid hugged her brother back and they let go after only a few seconds.

"Bye! Not gonna miss you," Infinity declared with her usual touch of sarcasm and ran after her mother.

"I will miss you too!"

Deathbringer watched her go with a feeling that they were bound to see each other again.

He sighed and knew that he had to find Glory as soon as possible.

Whoah, DRAMA.

I still can't believe we're already in chapter 14. You know what that means? That means that it's been 14 weeks since New Year's Day!

Time flies a little too fast sometimes, heck, next month is the last month of school for me!

Thank you as always, because I think that no matter if I say thank you a hundred times to all of you, I want to keep saying it a hundred more.

That was corny, shoot me.

But anyways, I need some advice.

How should I approach a person I haven't talked to in more than a year? Things were a little awkward between us, but I just want clear some things up and move on. Please help me, cause this girl has no idea what to do. XDD

Thanks again my friends, you guys are awesome!
