"Not gonna lie, this place is pretty cool," Infinity said.
The group was walking along the vine bridges to the main platform in the center of the village.
Glory's scales near her feet decided that a strong purple was their go-to color, so she let them stay that way.
Wait, Jambu said purple means proud...
It's alright, they probably don't know that scale colors are linked to emotions. And Deathbringer still hasn't figured it out completely.
"Most of the huts are scattered around randomly, but the platforms do have somewhat of a structure. So as long as you stay on or near the walkways you'll be fine," Glory explained with ease as they kept on their way to the heart of the village.
It was still too early for sun-time, so RainWings were still going about their business.
There was a small problem though.
Most of the times she saw a RainWing, there was always some shade of green in their scales. Whenever they flew, it was just a few flaps before they disappeared into the trees.
They must still be shook up from yesterday, I should talk to them.
As they kept walking, there was a sudden warmth on Glory's neck. Like an animal had jumped down on her from the trees.
"What- oh, hello there Silver."
The grey sloth gurgled happily and snuggled close to the base of her neck.
"Did, did you just name your prey?"
Deathbringer rolled his eyes at Infinity.
"Sloths are like pets to the RainWings, Silver has been Glory's ever since I can remember," he corrected as he scratched Silver's neck.
Glory hadn't failed to notice that Deathbringer had become quite fond of the sloth over the last few weeks.
She thought it was cute, but that's something that her bodyguard didn't have to hear.
"So... how are you not tempted to eat that?"
"Like I told Glory, they're mostly fur, and they don't have a good flavor either. At least, that's what I've heard from others. I would never ever eat one myself. They're just too cute, ya know?"
Infinity hissed as a pink-colored Jambu answered her question. He had come up from behind them without anyone noticing.
"I was so hoping to see you again, especially when you straight up put a gun to my head," the hybrid growled.
The prince's ruff flared and he spread his wings in a surrendering act.
"Hey, you had a sharp-metal-thinga-majiga on my sister's neck," he shot back with narrowed eyes.
Infinity rolled her eyes, but before she could say anything else, Glory cut in.
The queen stood in front of Jambu with a stern look.
"What's your point?" She asked with a raised eye-ridge.
Jambu sighed, and his scales turned a slightly darker shade.
"So... I kinda got strangled by this NightWing, and then they started yelling at me. And then I got strangled again. Oh, and this other one pushed me into a tree," he calmly reported with a thoughtful look.
"They strangled you? How- why were you on their side of the village in the first place?!"
Jambu smiled, embarrassed, and scratched his neck.
"There's this fruit that ONLY grows on that side. And I was very, very, very hungry. Then they saw me, and yeah," he replied.
Glory face-taloned and looked up to the sky in a silent prayer.
Life, are you sure he's my brother?
"Okay, I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that. But, what did they tell you?"
Jambu cleared his throat and stared off at a distant point, more than likely trying to focus so he could repeat everything he had heard.
"They said... 'where's the queen? We demand an explanation' 'is Quickstrike in the rainforest' 'where's the traitor' and stuff like that. They're just so loud!"
Oh moons...
"Okay then, thanks, Jambu," Glory said and then turned to Deathbringer and his little family.
"Alrighty, change of plans. We're going straight to the NightWings," Glory concluded and took a different pathway.
Deathbringer stopped in front of her and held up a talon.
"Are you sure it's safe? Look what they did to your brother. I don't want you to get hurt," he pleaded with a desperate look.
Glory sighed and looked down at the floor, knowing that if she looked too long at his silver eyes, she would concede to whatever he said.
"I'm the queen, Deathbringer. I can't run away from any little inconvenience. Besides," Glory smirked, "that's the whole purpose of the bodyguard role. Isn't it?"
Deathbringer gave her one of his very distracting smug faces.
"Hmm, I wouldn't be too sure about that. Perhaps, I just took the job to be closer to you. Or maybe, I am still secretly planning to assassinate you. The world will never know."
Glory rolled her eyes at his teasing and pushed him out of her way.
"You're not funny," she retorted.
"Duh, I know I'm not funny."
"...."
"I'm hilarious."

Good Morning/ Afternoon/ Night people!!!
I'm back with another chapter!
But here's the thing.
I don't have WiFi. For a bit more than three days already, so I'm using data that I'm not supposed to use so I can get this chapter out.
So any comments or notifications, I will be able to see, but I won't be able to respond, and I'm so sorry.
I will let you guys know when my stupid WiFi is back. (Hopefully by today!)
And guess what?
It's SPRING BREAK.
Basically what that means, is that I have a whole week of no school and no responsibilities.
Which also means, a whole week of writing!!
So I have so much time to get started on different chapters that I still want to post for The Hue of Dawn. (The bonus chapters)
AND, I can begin working on the Sunkat wedding!!!
What does that mean? Well for a few weeks already I've been working with TheRealDrakeRedwing to bring to you guys a very special book. In this book, proposals and weddings will be the only things in them.
For those of you that ship it of course, you can look forward to a three part Sunkat wedding soon!
And after that, more WoF ships will be on there too!
Very special thanks to TheRealDrakeRedwing
He's the one that came up with the book idea and most of the planning.
Okie Dokie
So I will keep you day and night
Here until the day I die
I'll be living
One life for the two of us
(Two of Us - Louis Tomlinson)
You should go and listen to it, it's really sad but a great song. I thought it relates to Deathbringer when he thought he lost his mother. Or maybe he did, because hey, this is just a fanfic.
But pretty much, the song is about the singer's feelings when his mother passed away. It's... one of the best songs I've ever heard.
