Octoling Assault.

As we boarded, the monorail was extremely crowded. There was no such thing as personal space, and almost all the seats were taken. I, myself, had to stand while Taiga and Leo disappeared somewhere in the inkling ocean. Inklings big, small, young and old filled the space, and I was left standing by myself, anxiously waiting for Sophia's reply. Standing there uncomfortably allowed me to spot a few inklings I saw in the hallways. "I bet this will be a lengthy discussion at school on Monday," I mumbled.

The monorail began to move and we were on our way to downtown Inkopolis. I caught a glance at the window, allowing me to get a view of the sheet of snow outside. Each little flake began to glimmer in my cold deep blue eyes. It was absurd nobody was paying attention to it.

"Beautiful.." I spoke quietly. A few inklings my age glanced at me in confusion.
"Ah- The snow." I stuttered. Agh! Why did I say that? Nobody really cares do they? I looked down in slight embarrassment.

Suddenly, the monorail jolted to a stop. The inklings began to get rowdy once more as I waited for everyone to unload into the plaza. However, this wasn't the case.

"Attention, inklings! The Monorail seems to be having some problems at the moment. Do not leave or open any doors, and keep all young inklings away from exits. Thank you for your understanding." The intercom announced.

Almost all the inklings began to panic and look outside. I only caught a glimpse, and all I saw was blue. It then hit me-
We're stuck on the bridge to downtown inkopolis.. with no way to get off.

I whipped out my phone faster than you can scream 'Breakdown' and checked my messages. Sophia had replied. I opened messages and checked to see what she said.

"Hi Hugo. I haven't decided what team I'm going for yet. Stuck on the Monorail right now." -Message sent at 9:14 am.

"That was just now!" I looked around frantically. "But where is she?" I turned my head and accidentally slapped someone in the face with my hair/tentacle. I panicked once more and jolted back to see who I slapped. It was a dark-skinned male inkling with green hair- similar to mine.
"I'm Sorry!" I bowed down immediately. The inkling smiled.
"Don't worry about it." He laughed. "Happens to all of us." I nodded a bit awkwardly.
"There's a lot of squids here." I glanced around, realizing my surroundings.
"Yup! I'm assuming most of them are here to vote in the final splatfest." He laughed softly. His voice was a little raspy, but gentle. "What's your name?" He asked me.
"Hugo Akio. And you?"
"Jalen Savoy. It's nice to meet you, Akio."
"The same for you." I nodded. "I'm sorry, but I'm looking for someone at the moment. She's a dark blue inkling like myself who wears her tentacles in a braid. Have you seen her?" I asked.
"I'm afraid not. I've been mainly looking at my phone texting a few of my friends. I'll keep an eye out, though." He said.
"Thank you." I smiled, and was off into the crowd to find her.

Most as this time would begin calling a person's name, but I remained silent to avoid drawing any attention to myself. The countless inklings made the search feel much more lengthy than it actually was, and before I knew it, I was met with the back of the Monorail and no sign of Sophia. It was snowing really hard, and the tracks behind us had began to collect piled up snow.
"So that's why we're delayed." I said to myself. I looked out the back door where nobody else was and saw that the river we were passing was beginning to freeze over. "Dang. At this rate they'll have to close Hammerhead Bridge and Bluefin Depot." I gasped. While it truly was beautiful, it was quite harmful to some of the creatures whom haven't evolved enough to leave the water as we have.

The monorail began to rumble a bit. A little bit more... until suddenly, it started to shake all of the cars.

All of the inklings began to shout a bit and a few began yelling. I stayed quiet at the back of the car and looked out the window.

"What the-?" I looked down in disbelief.

We're being attacked by Octolings!

I quickly ran toward the middle of the monorail, away from the windows. They were all beginning to break as the octarians shot through the glass with their deep magenta ink. One smaller squid had gotten stuck and began to scream for help. All of the inklings began to frantically look around for any weapons on the train. A few began calling their loved ones, and a few scrambled to hide from our attackers.

But... at that moment.. I heard her.

"AKIO!" The choppy female voice screamed. "I'm gonna KRILL YOU!"

I swung backwards to find an octoling smashing  her octoshot into the glass. Her face was covered with the silver metal octoling mask, with the dots of light on them, representing her eyes were glowing a deep fuchsia.

My heart shocked itself in fear and I shoved my way past the inklings as fast as I could. There has to be a weapon somewhere!

Everything began to get blurry again. I could feel my lips begin to quiver, my tentacles becoming heavier. My breathing was harsh and I could hardly see. All I could hear was the octolings and the breaking of glass around me. I was starting to run as all of the inklings started to move out of my way, until..

*BAM!*

"Ah!" A female inkling screamed. I had bulldozed right into her. She didn't notice me and was facing away from me. I regained my vision and began to notice the dark blue inkling in front of me, beginning to turn around. She had pale blue eyes.. her tentacles in a braid...
Sophia!

I gasped and began to panic.
"S-Sophia! I'm so sorry- I didn't see you there,"
"Oh! Hugo. I didn't know you were here too. Thank god." She sighed of relief. My face began to tint pink. Is she relieved that I'm here?
"I thought you were one of those octolings! Good thing too, I would've been dead squid!" She finished, looking around frantically.

Oh. My blush began to fade to a feeling of disgust for myself. Well I don't blame her. I thought to myself. My hands began to get all sweaty, and I could feel my heart beating. I had found her, alright. In the worst way possible.

She fell silent and started to walk away. I looked up and began to feel dread drift into my guts. I didn't want her to leave. What should I say?

"Ah.. Sophia..?" I blurted out. She turned around, puzzled.

"Yes?" She replied. I couldn't think of anything. I was lost in her eyes. Her lovely eyes...

"Yess?" She said once again, beginning to get annoyed. I was brought back into reality and quickly said what I really needed to say.

"S-Sophia, I'm sorry about math class! I know I was acting childish.. I'm not proud of it either but-" I tried to say more but I couldn't.. I felt like I was just blabbering, as if my words didn't really mean much anyway.

"I see." She nodded silently, and proceeded to turn around and walk away with a fastened pace. I dragged my hand across my rose-colored face and groaned. Nice going, Hugo. Suddenly, I was brought back into reality when I heard another window smash. An Octoling!

I looked around as quick as I could and grabbed the closest thing to me, an umbrella. The polka-dotted umbrella was the closest thing I had to a weapon, and I ended up bopping her in the face with it. A few other inklings took out items they carried with them and began hitting the octolings with them aswell. The octoling I had hit had broken her goggles, most likely by falling into the monorail once she broke in. She dropped her weapon and started fishing around for it. She really couldn't see.

I stated to feel kinda bad. They were attacking us, sure, but they really were helpless Battle-Wise. I paused for a moment and decided to attempt to take the octoling's mask off.

"Wha.. What're you DOING?" She snapped at me, her green eyes being revealed. The octoling grabbed the mask back from me along with her weapon, and proceeded to run off to a different part of the train. She tried to aim her octoshot, but kept missing everyone she looked at. After a moment, she tripped over someone and broke her weapon too. A few inklings giggled at her clumsiness, and she growled in anger.

"THIS WON'T BE FORGOTTEN! ESPECIALLY NOT YOU, AKIO!" She shot a glare back at me as she ripped off her mask. It was the same octoling who had called me before. The same octoling that chased me home, too.

She grabbed the shards of her leaking weapon and jumped off the monorail onto the bridge. I raced to the window to watch her. She placed a splat bomb down and super-jumped off the bridge.

"B-B-BOMB!" I screamed. Everyone began to panic and ran away from the window, proceeding to explode of magenta ink. The other octolings noticed this explosion and ran towards the hole created by her.

What is her name?
Why is this happening?
...
Who is she?
