Broken again

The teacher told us to quiet down or she'd start sending people down to ATS. (Alternate to Suspension) Personally, I had never been there. From what I saw and heard, if you acted up or didn't pay attention in class you'd get sent to a room occupied with a chaperone and you'd have to do your work in there instead. I believe it also went on your record, so I didn't like the sound of it at all. I sat down at my seat with Sophia sitting close to me for once. I could feel my face heat up a bit. Taiga, another inkling I know, threw a note at me. Landing perfectly on my desk of course, I picked it up and read it.

"Hey- Idiot. Guess what. I found out who you like." It read.

I gave her a small glare and shoved it into my pocket. There's no way she could have found out. I never even told her! She glared at me back and ripped out a sheet of her paper and wrote something on it. She crumpled it up and threw it at me. The paper hit my face and the teacher turned around to see what was going on. I quickly shoved the paper ball into my desk.

Unfortunately, she saw me shove the paper into my desk and she asked me to solve the problem on the board to see if I was paying attention. I had struggled a little, feeling Taiga staring me down with her bright orange eyes burning through my back. The teacher eventually told me to go sit back down and I waited a moment before reading the note Taiga sent.

"What the hell, Hugo? Why did you just discard it? I know who it is- you can't deny it dude. Don't even try to hide it, Kyoshi told me." It read.

My face tinted pink. Of course Kyoshi has to tell her. Just wonderful. I turned around and gave him a small glare, and he looked up at me confused. I turned back around and wrote back to her.

"Taiga, shut up. It's none of your business alright? Just stay out of it and keep your nose out of everything!" I crumpled it up in anger and attempted to throw it at her

Well.. Let's just say my throwing needs work, Because it landed right on Sophia's desk.

She glanced at me and opened it, thinking it was for her. I sat face down at my desk, feeling my face turn red from anger and sheer embarrassment. I felt something tap on my shoulder and I shot up into my seat. The teacher was right behind me, holding the paper I accidentally threw to Sophia.

"Would you like to read this in the front of the class, Hugo?" She grumbled. "It must be so much more important than my teaching!"
"N-no. That's not true. I'm sorry, it won't happen again, Mrs. Angler." I felt the sweat drip down my face.
"That's wonderful to hear. But just so it won't happen again, I'm requiring you to read this since it couldn't possibly wait until the end of class. If you refuse, I'll have to send you to ATS." She growled. I gulped and took the note into my hand. I slowly trudged to the front of the room, refusing to look up. "...Uhm.. Do I-"
"Hugo. Please read what was so important to you and Taiga."
I gave a cough. Taiga looked at me and gave a death glare.

"Uh.. Okay.. Hey Taiga, do you know what the homework was-"
"Ugh- Hugo go to your seat, I've had enough of you for one day already." Mrs. Angler said. I gave a sigh of relief and scooted to my seat. I sat back down and glanced over at Sophia, who was giving me a strange look.
"What?" I shrugged.
"You lied to her." She whispered.
"I noticed." I mumbled back. Sophia grunted something in return and looked back down at her paper. I felt my heart beat a little faster, realizing that I probably upsetted her. There wasn't much I could do, so I laid back in my chair and said nothing for the rest of the class. I didn't know what we were learning that day, and I did terrible on homework. I could only concentrate on one thing that day.

Sophia...

The next class eventually rolled around, which was yearbook. We didn't do much in that class. We created and designed the yearbook, sure. But we slowly began to do nothing every block. I had nobody to talk to, so it was always the block where I would finish homework or think to myself.

I rested my head on the table and put my arms up to block the light. I began to think about it. The far-away look she gave me after what had happened. It was not as warm and happy as it usually was. I could feel my eyes swell up- about to cry. I quickly wiped them away and acted like it never happened. Nobody questioned me because nobody payed any attention to me, not even the teacher. I huffed, not eager for lunch to start, either. They had changed the rules after pervious fights that had taken place in the cafeteria. We had to be walked to the cafeteria each day and sit at assigned tables, like I did in 6th grade. I really hated it. At lunch I at least had people to talk to like Taiga and Kyoshi. I knew them for a couple years now, since 6th grade, as a matter of fact. So we all shared the pain in this.

Soon after, the Lunch bell rang and we were sent out the classroom. I was the last one out, as always. I headed over to my locker and got my lunch out, hoping to get there after the crowd. I stood for a moment, my back against my locker and looked at the clock. '11:52' I gave a heavy sigh, realizing that meant I still have a little over 3 hours left of this school day. At the bottom of my heart, I felt something I couldn't explain with words.

Impossible.
