Last name

Chapter three: Last name (Avery's POV)

It was now the next day. We fly to Rome tonight so I've got to finish all my packing, make sure I have everything, shower and get ready. But before that, I have to eat something. I crawled out of bed, putting my phone on my nightstand as I stood up. I opened my blinds and saw the three of them sitting around talking.

Do they just hop around from one of their houses to another?

I threw my hair up in a bun while walking downstairs. My parents were already off at work and my dad would come to pick me up at 5:45 pm and I would meet Soph and Lia at the airport. We have to drive to Sacramento which is about an hour away, when we get into Sacramento, we'll go to the International Airport there and catch our flight. This is a long-ass ride there, it's a 16 hour and 55-minute long flight with 2 stopovers.

We are going to die.

I made myself an Acai bowl before going back up to my room. I placed my food on my nightstand, taking bites in between as I packed. I counted my outfits, making sure I had enough, counted my socks, my underwear, making sure I had a spare of everything. I grabbed a shoe bag and put flip flops in them and Adidas shoes in another.

I'll just wear my converse to the airport.

I opened my dresser, grabbed a couple of swimsuits, one-piece, and two bikinis, then I packed up my makeup because I wasn't gonna need it today. After that, I went to shower so I could pack the toiletries as well. I came out of the shower in a different pair of pajamas that I would change out of before we left for the airport.

I packed everything up, double, triple checking for everything. Once I was sure I had everything I zipped it up and took it to the top of the stairs. I sighed out loud, "How am I gonna get you down there?" I sighed to myself while placing my hands on my hips. Before I could drag my suitcase, the doorbell rang. I went downstairs and answered it, freezing in my spot.

"Hi," he scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.

"Hi?" I said but it came out as a question. "Um- come on in," I stepped aside and let him in.

"Are you going somewhere?" he asked while glancing at my suitcase.

"Yeah. Vacation," I huffed while rubbing my hands on the sides of my thighs uneasily. "Wyatt, what're you doing here?" I asked in confusion.

Meet my ex, ladies, and gentlemen.

"I just wanted to drop by," he shrugged.

"To do what?" I questioned.

"Just, check on you," he replied.

I rolled my eyes, "Do you still expect me to be dwelling over you six months after we've broken up?" I arched an eyebrow at him. "You didn't even come to check on me when we did break up. What do you want?" I sighed. "Do I have a hoodie that you want back? Or a photo you want to burn? What is it?" I asked in confusion.

"There's a hoodie you still have," he mumbled. "Aria saw it in a picture, she wants it," he sighed.

"I don't know which hoodie you're talking about, point it out if you see it," I sighed while going upstairs with him following. I opened my closet and stood there. I scanned my closet but I didn't find it anywhere.

He stepped in and reached up top where I could barely reach and pulled it off the shelf.

"Well, there you go," I sighed while closing my closet doors.

"Still smells like you," he chuckled.

"Hmm, bleach it in your cologne. Don't want her suspecting anything," I said sarcastically before rolling my eyes. I turned around and grabbed the empty bowl when I saw Ryder and Colton looking through my window. I looked at them in confusion before leading Wyatt out. He stopped at the top of the stairs and carried my suitcase downstairs.

I am not thanking him.

"Bye," I held the door open for him.

"Bye," he walked away.

I waited till his car was gone, running back to my room. I opened my window and leaned out. "Do you guys need anything?" I huffed.

"No?" Colton said in confusion.

"Then stop looking through my window," I rolled my eyes.

"Who was that?" Ryder questioned.

"Don't you wanna know," I taunted.

"Boyfriend?" he questioned. "Hmm, no. You two were standing awfully far apart to be together," he answered his question. "Oh." It clicked. "Ex-boyfriend, isn't he?" he asked while leaning out.

"If we sat here talking about your ex-girlfriends we'd be here a long time," I shrugged. "And that's not a compliment," I shook my head.

"Are you ever gonna tell me your name?" he leaned his elbows on the window frame.

"You never told me yours. Bold to assume I know," I mimicked his actions and position.

He chuckled, "I'm Ryder," he stuck his hand out. I eyed it. I'm not telling him my name.

"Basketball girl," I shrugged, not shaking his hand.

"That's not it. Nothing came up on social media," he shook his head.

He's looking for my social media? Now I definitely can't accept that request.

"Try harder," I stepped back.

"You know I can just ask Owen, right?" he smirked at me.

"Yeah, but you won't. You would've done it already if you wanted to. But you want me to tell you. Good luck with that," I rolled my eyes before stepping back and closing my window.

"I really like you," he laughed before I closed my window.

"Sorry, can't say the same," I shrugged before closing my window. I heard him laughing as I walked away. I was laughing at his stupidity.

What is he doing?

Now I have about three hours before I have to leave with nothing to do. I sat on the couch and turned the TV on, playing Friends. I can watch it for a while, just not for three hours. I watched for about an hour before my phone rang. "Hey," I answered.

"What are you doing right now?" Soph asked.

"Absolutely nothing. I packed, showered, I'm done with everything," I sighed while going to sit out on my porch to get some fresh air. I sat down and looked around. I saw Mr. Forbes waving at me and I waved back with a smile.

"Are the guys still there?" she asked.

"The guys?" I chuckled.

"Well, is Colton?" she questioned. I turned to the right and saw Ryder coming over.

"Oh, my god," I mumbled.

"What?" Sophia asked over the phone in confusion.

"Hey," he sat down beside me.

"Is that Ryder?" she asked through the phone.

"Hi," I turned to face him.

"Are you busy?" he asked.

"Say no, say no!" Soph chanted.

"Why?" I asked straight up.

"Because I wanna know your name," he shrugged.

"You still haven't told him your name?" she yelled in my ear.

"No," I answered her with a sigh.

"No?" he asked in confusion.

"Not you," I sighed. "I'll call you back," I huffed into the phone before hanging up on her. "Hi," I sighed while turning to face him.

"Hi," he smirked.

"You are very stubborn," I sighed while placing my phone on the steps.

"That I am," he nodded.

"So what is it that you want?" I asked with an arched brow.

"Just a name," he shrugged.

"I thought you said you could ask Owen," I smirked.

Challenging Ryder is a bad idea.

"I thought you said you already know I want you to tell me," he smirked back.

Touche.

"I can tell you my last name," I shrugged.

It's not mentioned in my username.

He chuckled but waited for me to continue. "Henderson," I answered.

"There are three Hendersons in our grade," he laughed.

"Figure it out," I stood up and went back inside. I had about one and a half hours left till I have to leave so I decided to go change and get ready. After that, I hung out in my backyard and had lunch, then my dad pulled up. I sighed while turning off everything in my room and locking it, making sure to take my laptop, my chargers, my phone, and some chips in my backpack.

I took my suitcase out as my phone rang in the pocket of my sweatpants. I just wore sweatpants and a light pink hoodie with a black baseball hat. It's a comfy outfit and a 16-hour flight, I can't afford to look cute for 16 hours.

My dad pulled out of the driveway and as he hit the gas, Owen, Colton, and Ryder all stumbled in front of our car while laughing. My dad halted the brakes and I gasped. "Jesus," I breathed heavily while taking my hat off, looking up to see them laughing.

"What the hell are they doing?!" my dad clicked his tongue, stepping outside to go talk to them. I stepped out as well and stood beside my dad. "Hey, what are you idiots doing? You could have gotten hit!" he yelled. "Come on," he sighed and got back into the car.

"Are you guys crazy?" I looked at them wide-eyed while taking my hat off.

"Where are you going?" Ryder questioned.

I rolled my eyes and got back in the car. "Far away from you dumbasses," I mumbled to myself.
