Thirteen - You Found Me
You Found Me
It was a small world. Yash had been invited last minute to attend the wedding where his boss's son was the groom. His boss had sent him an invitation the day before the wedding, claiming that he needed someone from the office to go, and the person who was meant to be attending had backed off. Yash didn't even look at the invitation until the wedding day, and when he saw who the bride was, his heart skipped a beat.
Dropping everything he was doing, he bolted towards the venue.
He entered the marriage hall, but through the window. He was testing his luck when he climbed into a window at random, but he figured that it was probably much easier than openly looking for the bride.
Yash didn't know much about the groom, but he had already decided that if he wasn't a good fit for Ishita, he would do whatever was in his power to stop her from taking the wedding vows... even if it meant he lost his job.
Upon entering the room (and destiny seemed to favour him this time) through the balcony, his eyes landed on the most beautiful sight he had ever seen in his life.
Ishita as a bride, dressed in red, with heavy jewelry adorning her body.
She was sitting down on her vanity, her head on the desk.
"Ishita," he whispered, causing her head to shoot up and look in the mirror, straight into his eyes.
Yash noticed her eyes fill with tears as soon she saw him. She got up, picked up the skirt of her lengha and ran towards him.
"I don't want to marry him," she said quickly, holding his arm tightly. It was as if they hadn't stopped talking at all. "But this is the only way I would get mom and dad's forgiveness for being an engineer and for being with Dilip."
Yash didn't have to wonder why she was confiding in him, that too, after she hadn't seen him in two whole years, even after she considered him a jerk. He knew that deep down she was also aware of his feelings for her.
"Please Yash," she whispered, a tear falling from her big kohl-lined eyes. "Save me from this. I want to run away, but at the same time I can't hurt my family."
"They want you to marry him because he's rich and his father owns an international business?" Yash asked her, grabbing her arms.
She nodded.
"My family is rich, my mother is the owner of a huge group of companies - international too, and bigger than his father's, will you marry me Ishita? Will that make your parent's forgive you?"
His question was genuine, and he could see that the longing in her eyes was genuine as well. He was ready to forgive his mother for all the pain she had caused him during his life for Ishita's happiness.
He watched her get emotional and break down in front of him. She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. Yash rubbed her back gently and held her protectively against him.
"It will be okay," he said in a comforting tone. "Trust me."
"They won't ever forgive me for publicly humiliating them today though," she whispered, her breath lingering on his neck.
She pulled back slowly and looked Yash in the eye. Placing one hand on her cheek, he used his other hand to wipe off the traces of mascara that had fallen down her face.
"Run away with me," Yash told her quietly. "Your parent's will be upset with you for some time, but when they see that you found someone who matches their desires more, they will forgive you."
Ishita looked faithfully up at him before hugging him again. It was amazing how they had come to understand each other better with time - and that too, without saying a word to one another.
"Let's go," she muttered against his chest, her approval hitting his heart in the most fulfilling way.
