~ Vica's Point Of View ~
I was walking along the halls in school when I felt a buzz from my phone, probably from Wattpad. I smiled as I saw the text, as it was from my chi- I mean my friend, Star, in the group chat.
StarIsCri082:
School is starting soon.
Kill me. Please.
12CupsOfACake:
Starrrrrrr, look on the bright side.
tHERE MIGHT BE BAGLES-
I chuckled a bit. I had forgotten about LeBagelCult.
VicaVica360:
gAsSspPpPP
BBBBAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGEEEEELLLLLL-
Shoot, got to get off my phone, since I almost just ran into somkne
VicaVica360:
Someone*
StarIsCri082:
Bye Dad!
It was true. I wasn't paying attention, and I accidentally had almost ran into a hooman being. The bell rang, and I ran quickly into the classroom.
The teacher said we could sit wherever we wanted, but unfortunately, none of my friends were in this class.
However, I had a mini gaypanic when I saw a person sitting there, who looked like a girl (but I would never assume, because we all know what happens), who was my type weakness.
They sat down, and I walked over.
"Is this seat taken?"
They shook their head, and went back to reading their book that I didn't notice before.
Since the bell rang, the teacher started taking role. I may or may not have kind of zoned out while taking role, but one name stood out to me, mainly because there were lots of giggles.
"Star?"
Someone with a male outward appearance raised their hand, and smiled awkwardly. Laughter echoed across the room.
"Did your momma run out of names?" A kid asked.
The person sitting next to him slapped their arm, making everyone shut up.
"Vii— Vi— Sorry, if I mispronounce this. Vica?" Mr. Gallaudet (our History teacher) asked.
I grinned. That's me!
"I'm here, and you can just call me Vic! And you pronounced it right," I said, maintaining a smile.
After role was done, the teacher was putting us into assigned seats, into alphabetical order. I sat the group table next to the kid named Star, and across from a kid that looked like they haven't opened their mouth in days, and diagonally from the kid who made fun of Star. If I'm being honest, I thought about throwing a pencil at them.
Anyways, I waved at Star and took a piece of paper out of my backpack.
"I'm Vica. Here. It's the adoption paper. I'm your parent now,"
They chuckled a little.
"Thanks. I think. By the way, your name kind of-" Star started, but was interrupted by the teacher asking for everyone's attention.
"Okay, so I see a few of you making acquaintances already-" he said, eyeing the supposed adoption paper with humor, then continued, "So I have a few introduction exercises, starting with what I like to call Cards. So you write your name, your pronouns, and five things you feel comfortable with sharing with the class."
"For example, my card would be, Mr. Gallaudet, and He/Him, because those are my pronouns, and I identify as a cis male,"
I was beginning to like this teacher.
"And my five facts are, I love Ninja Turtles, I have a daughter and a wife, I have been teaching for a very long time, I hate hot weather, and I'm the advisory teacher for
GSA— which are on Tuesdays, by the way,"
Okay, I like this teacher.
He started passing them around, and I saw Star put stuff down immediately.
Vica [Insert Last Name] - They/Them :D
Period 1
6/26/19
• I'm known as the dad friend
• I am a theatre kid
• I don't like science
• Sanders Sides is awesome!
• StarKid is the best!!
After I finished, I raised my hand. Mr. Gallaudet seeing, walked over.
"What do you need?" He asked
"I'm finished with my card," I said, giving out the card.
"Oh, perfect!" He said, taking it. "Is anyone else done here?"
Star gave the card, as did the shy kid and the mean kid. I should find out their names.
"I'm Vica," I said, smiling and holding out my hand.
"Elliot," the mean kid said, avoiding my hand, and looking around the table. Then, with a sigh, he said, "I can't believe I got in a table with mostly all girls,"
Star, Shy Kid, and me, all tensed.
"I'm not too happy about it either," Star said blatantly.
"Anyways, what's your name?" I asked Shy Kid.
"I- I'm uhm.. Sa- I mean.. Zoe..." Shy Kid said.
"Nice to meet you. I have more adoption papers if you need it,"
"That's so stupid," said Elliot with a scoff.
Mr. Gallaudet looked over. "I think it's cool. Vica will be a great parent," he said, acknowledging me with a nod, then continued to Elliot, "I would like for you to realize, that this behavior is not tolerated. This will be a warning, but next time, I'll send you to the office. Is that clear?"
Elliot sighed and nodded. Mr. Gallaudet then went to the front of the class and introduced the next introduction game.
What was happening is that Partner A (that's me!) would use a full minute to tell Partner B (that's Star!) everything about them without interruptions. That includes favorite pizza topping, favorite movie, etc. When he clicked start, I started.
"So, I'm usually known as the dad friend, obviously. I enjoy taking care of them, and when they need something they can come to me for help. I hate science, it's my least favorite subject, but I love theatre! Thomas Sanders is a YouTuber that I like watching since he is really funny. I like cartoons, like Steven Universe and stuff. And I always wished I could meet my friends. Oh, I have a lot of online friends, most of them are on this site called-"
Aw, cut off by the timer.
"And that was a minute. Good job, I heard a lot of interesting conversations, and now Partner B, since we're running low on time, we will skip the thirty second parts, and you have a full minute to explain everything about yourself," said Mr. Gallaudet.
When the timer started, Star started slower than I did.
"Okay, so, I'm a girl, but since I look like a boy and get confused for a boy often, I don't really say anything. I hate math with a passion, but I don't mind theatre. I mean, I'm a techie because being on stage makes me nervous and I wouldn't want to do that. You mentioned having online friends, and I think that's cool! I have online friends too. A lot of them had... well anyway, I have them on the social media site of Wattpad. I would suggest getting it, but it's awfully depressing. Literally though. But there are good people! My friend I was talking about earlier-"
Again, cut off by the timer.
Did Star say she had Wattpad?
"Again, I heard interesting conversations, and no interruptions, all good. Now, you have rest of the period, which is three minutes to talk about whatever you want. What you heard, something interesting, it's whatever. Go!" Me. Gallaudet said smiling.
"You have Wattpad?" I said grinning. "Me too!!"
"What's your user? I'll write it down," said Star getting a piece of paper out.
"It's VicaVica360," I said slowly so she could hear me. She didn't start writing it down, but she did look up at me.
"No. Ducking. Way. I did not move out of my state, and come to [Da Lovely State] just to meet Dad. No way," said Star shaking her head.
"What do you mean, Star?" As I said it, a realization swept over me.
She's Star.
No. Way.
"Oh my goodness! Star!" I said, giving her a big hug. I never thought I would ever meet you!"
Across the table, Elliot sighed in annoyance, and Star and I pulled apart. Zoe looked at us both. Then spoke to Elliot.
"Y-you know, it- it isn't so weird or annoying. They met on an online site... they- they're meeting now. Isn't that amazing? If I could meet my friends, life would be s-so much easier," said Zoe.
"Wait, do you have Wattpad?" I asked. Star's eyes were gleaming, and Zoe nodded.
"I-I'm known as Sammy on there. If I'm
b-being honest, I would much rather be known as S-Sammy in real life too," they said.
"Well then, we will call you Sammy! Also, what's your user!" I said.
Maybe they're the Sammy we know, but there are dozens of Sammys out there.
"It's erm, underscore (_), Microsoft underscore Nerd underscore," said Sammy, fiddling with their hands.
Then the bell rang. I checked my schedule and did a mental sigh. Science is next.
"What do you guys have next?" I asked them.
Sammy didn't even look at their schedule, but they knew.
"Science," they said.
"Me too!" Star said excitedly. "Then I have math, and I hate math,"
"I had the teacher last year, very scary. I'm scared of all teachers if I'm being honest," said Sammy.
They were here last year? It's a small world I guess.
"We should probably get to class," I said, since we only had five minutes to get to class, and we used a lot of them to talk.
The three of us walked over to science, maybe nervous, maybe excited, for the school year ahead of us.
OKAY
SO
Let me clear things up.
Most of the people that I put in my stories have some connection to someone in my real life.
Mr. Gallaudet is my actual History teacher, and those exercises like Cards and the Partner A & B stuff, those are things he actually did.
Now, unfortunately, Elliot does exist, and I hate him with every ounce of my being.
At first, I was going to make Shy Kid my friend, but then I thought, my character is supposed to be shy anyways, so why not? I also pulled an feminine name to make it more interesting. But please, DO👏NOT👏CALL 👏ME👏ZOE.
Also, just a side note, I am actually that shy in real life, and I stutter a lot in front of people I don't feel comfortable with, and since Elliot was sitting next to Sammy, I thought that fit.
Anyways, so what'd you guys think?
I did my best to portray y'all the way you wanted me to.
That's all for now, and stay safe,
~Sammy
