When I Say Ho, You Say....... [Infintie Fanfic]

School had just let out for the term and Lee Howon was on his way home from middle school. As he turned up his street, he noticed a truck parked in the middle of the road. "Looks like they finally sold that house" he mumbled as he passed by.

Later that night there was a knock on the door and his mother rushed to answer it. "Oh, please come in" she said as she invited them in.

Howon had been sitting on the floor with his brothers watching the TV, but immediately stood to greet their guests when their father gave him a light tap on the head.

Howon's father went over and said "Looks like the move went well."

"Thanks to you Mr. Lee" replied the man who had just arrived. "If you hadn't told me about the house for sale, I don't know where we would be right now."

Mr. Lee laughed. "This must be your wife and daughter" he bowed to the woman and smiled at the young girl who had taken to hiding behind her father's leg.

Howon chuckled at the sight of her cowering from his father. "Hey, that isn't polite. You should greet our neighbors properly" her father scolded her.

She hung her head low and frowned as she came out from behind her father. "Hello, I'm Ya MinJung. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Howon couldn't help but laugh as he asked "Your family name is Ya?"

She had been used to this question because her name wasn't a common family name, but the way he laughed got under her skin. "Yeah it is. Do you have a problem with that?"

Howon was surprised by her comment, but smiled because he found it cute. "Well, don't just stand there" his father reprimanded him "introduce yourself."

"Hello, I'm Lee Howon" he said with a bow.

Mr. Ya approached the young man and held out his hand. Howon shook his hand apprehensively. "Please look after our MinJung."

"Huh?" Howon was confused.

"Dad, I'm not a little girl anymore!" the girl pouted. "Besides I don't think little Ho here is up for the task" she stuck her tongue out at him.

"YA!" he screamed as he chased her around the house.

A year passed and the two of them had become close friends. One day while sitting under a tree at the park, she started laughing. "It's kinda funny"

"What is?" Howon asked as he leaned against the tree.

"Whenever I say Ho, you say..."

"Ya" he replied automatically and she started giggling.

"That's what is so funny" she smiled. "Ho...Ya...HoYa."

He began thinking on it as well. "That would be a cool stage name; Hoya. I like it!"

"You're not still thinking of auditioning, are you?"

"Are you kidding? You know it's my dream to be a singer!"

"I know, but still... If your father finds out..."

"That's why you're not going to tell him" he gave her a stern look.

She turned her gaze to the sky and sighed. "Still... there's no guarantee that you'll get signed."

"I know" he sighed as he sat down next to her "but I still have to try. Who knows, I might actually make it."

"I bet you don't!"

"Oh really? And what if I do?"

"What do you mean?"

"What will you bet?" She looked at him confused. "How about this? If I get signed and get to debut then you have to grant me a wish, but if I fail at the audition then I grant you a wish. How does that sound?"

She was a little hesitant to agree, but the idea that he would grant her any wish was too good to pass up. "Agreed!"

They placed their pinkies together and sealed the promise with their thumbs. "Awesome!" he shouted as he jumped up.

"Where are you going?"

"I've got to practice if I'm going to pass the audition" he said as he took off to find a place to practice.

"Hey!" she screamed as she took off after him.

The years flew by and soon they were in high school. Howon kept practicing his dancing every chance he got and soon found a loyal group of fans and spectators.

"Howon, that was amazing!" one of the guys said as he handed him a bottle of water. "You really need to give us pointers he said as he placed an arm around his shoulders.

A group of squealing girls ran over to him and gave him a towel. "Thanks" he said and the girls screamed as they ran off.

"Wow! If only we could dance like you" another guy said as he sighed looking after the girls who had run away.

Howon walked over to the bleachers and stood face to face with his best friend. "So, what did you think?"

It took all her energy not to smile when he asked her opinion. She looked him in the eye and said "If you're still messing up those elementary moves, do you really think you'll be able to pass an audition?" She stood up and began walking towards the exit "Give it up!" she called out as she left.

"Man, she's harsh!" the guys said as they took a seat on the bleachers. "Why do you even bother asking her? She always says you're not good enough."

Howon laughed "I didn't think she'd notice those mistakes. Guess I got to step up my game." He started packing his bag.

"What? She was right?" the guys asked as they immediately sat upright.

"See you guys tomorrow" Howon waved as he took off after her.

The guys slouched back into the bleachers. "Those were 'messed up elementary moves'?" one of them sighed. "Damn! I wonder what is good in her eyes?" they laughed.

"Ya!" Howon screamed as he ran to catch up with her.

When she finally heard his voice, she stopped and waited for him. "I thought you were going to hang out with the guys."

"Are you kidding?" he slung his arm over her shoulder. "Why would I hang out with them when I have you?"

Ya blushed a little at his comment. She had always had a crush on Howon, but could never bring herself to confess. Every time he danced, her heart would be right there dancing to his beat. That's why even though she hoped he would fail the audition; she still encouraged him to get better in her own way. "Yeah, well don't let the girls hear you say that or they'll think we're dating." They both laughed as they made their way home.

A few weeks later, Howon snuck out of the house and went to Seoul for his audition. He arrived at school late in the afternoon and found a place to hide up on the roof. he pulled out his phone and texted Ya ~Looks like I'm going to win that bet ^^~ he then attached a picture of him holding his signed contract and pressed send.

Down in the classroom one of the guys came running in yelling "Did you hear? Howon passed the audition!"

Just then, Ya's phone vibrated. She looked at it and saw that Howon had texted her and smiled. She got up and casually walked up to the roof to find a quiet place to text him back. She looked at the message and laughed. Then she quickly typed her reply ~That doesn't mean you've won the bet yet~ ~You still have to make your debut first~

Howon watched as she read his message. Then he looked at the messages she was sending back. ~Just you wait. Once I make my debut, you are going to regret making fun of me -_- ~ He smiled as he thought of her granting his wish.

She smiled as she read his message. ~I hope you do ^^ I'll be rooting for you~ She blushed as she pressed send.

He looked at the message and was surprised. I thought she wanted me to fail? he thought to himself. ~To fail, right?~ he texted back.

"Pabo" she said aloud. Surprised by her comment, he looked at her reaction. "You really think I'd be rooting for your failure?" She sighed as she collapsed onto the railing. She looked out over the campus and said "Why would I hold you back when you are so talented? I really do hope you succeed, but I'll never tell you that." She quickly texted back and ran off as the bell rang for the next class.

Howon looked down at the text ~That's right! (^_-)~ He crawled out from his hiding spot and looked towards the stairs. "What was that all about? Did I hear her right? Talented? Succeed?" Trying to shrug it off, he strolled off to class. After school, he went to the teacher's office and officially dropped out.

"Howon" his teacher spoke with sincerity "Are you sure this is what you really want to do?"

Howon smiled and said "Yes!"

When he got home after school, his father was there waiting for him. He slapped Howon across the face and screamed "Are you insane? What made you think you could go and audition without my permission?"

"Father, listen to me...."

"Enough! Go to your room!"

Later that night, Howon packed a bag and snuck out with the help of his mother. "Take this with you" she said handing him a small package. Then she kissed him on the cheek and said "Take care of yourself."

"Thanks mom" he smiled and walked off.

He walked solemnly down the street he was sure he'd never see again. As he approached Ya's house, he saw a familiar figure waiting for him. "You were going to leave without saying goodbye?" she scolded him.

He dropped his bags and wrapped his arms tightly around her. He had always thought that she was the perfect girl and was secretly in love with her. He had planned to use his wish to take her on a date and confess to her, but now he was having second thoughts. Should I just tell her now?

"I'll miss you Ho" she choked up.

"I'll miss you too, Ya" he replied.

They separated and each wiped the tears from their eyes. "Don't forget to keep in touch. You know how your mother worries about you."

"I know."

He walked to the end of the street and waved back at the lone figure standing in the street. Then he turned and ran to the bus station in an attempt to stop the tears that were threatening to fall once more. He boarded the bus bound for Seoul and said one last "Goodbye" to Busan. As the bus pulled away from the curb, the tears that he had held back started to flow again.

Years flew by and Ya had not heard from Howon. She knew he had been training at JYP Entertainment, but she was never really the type to keep up on all the idols that were debuting or training. She was also afraid to try and contact him because she thought that he had forgotten her and didn't want to put him in an awkward position.

Then one day, one of her friends came running into the cafe they were meeting at and excitedly asked the group "Did you guys catch 'You are my Oppa' yesterday?"

All of the girls started squealing and fangirling over the show. "OMO, I can't believe how hot they all are!" one of the girls said.

"Yeah! Especially that Hoya guy!" another one sighed "His dancing would make any girl faint!"

At the name Hoya, Ya quickly turned her attention to the conversation. "What did you say?"

"OMO, Is MinJung actually asking about an idol?" the girls looked at her in shock. "Who are you and where our MinJung hiding?"

"What did you say his name was?" Ya asked the girl who had been fawning over the dancing guy.

"Hoya" she laughed "Why?"

"Ho...Ya?" she asked nervously and the girls started to laugh. She slouched back into her chair and the girls continued with their conversation. It couldn't be him, could it?

They finished their coffee and were walking down the street when she got a text. She looked at her phone and froze. It was Howon. She hadn't heard from him in years, but he still remembered her number. She looked at the text and collapsed to the ground.

The girls scrambled over to her and asked "Are you okay? What's the matter?"

"It's nothing" she replied as she looked at the text once more. ~The bet is over! You better be ready to grant my wish ^^ ~ then she closed her phone and got up.

"Are you sure you're fine?"

"Yeah, let's go! You don't want to miss the movie, do you?"

A few weeks later she received another text ~Meet me at ***** cafe at 5pm tomorrow~ she smiled.

She put on a casual dress and walked to the cafe. She went inside and looked for Howon, but couldn't see him anywhere. She took a seat at one of the booths and ordered an Americano. As she waited for her drink, she looked out the window, hoping to see Howon.

A group of seven young men were walking down the streets laughing and joking when Sungyeol suddenly asked "Are you sure she is going to be there?"

"Yeah, she'll be there" Hoya responded.

"Looks like Hoya is blushing" Woohyun teased. "She must be some girl! I can't wait to see her!"

Hoya laughed "Don't get your hopes up Woohyun. She might already have a boyfriend."

"There's one way to find out" Sunggyu said as he placed a hand on his shoulder.

They quickly came up with a plan, but just before they got to the cafe Hoya pulled Sunggyu back and asked "Are you sure about this?"

"Yeah! It'll be fun!"

"I'm worried about you, Hyung. She can really hit hard."

"Don't worry about it. I'm prepared for the worst" Sunggyu smiled as they arrived at the cafe. "Let's go in!"

Ya had been waiting for a little while when suddenly she saw a shadow standing over her and turned to face them. "You don't mind if we join you, right?" Sunggyu asked as they all sat at her booth.

She was about to protest, but Sunggyu sat right next to her. "Actually, I'm waiting for someone" she said.

Woohyun, who had sat on the other side of the table perked up. "A girl right? The more the merrier!"

"Actually, I'm waiting for my boyfriend" she retorted.

Sunggyu laughed "Yeah right! What guy would let the girl wait when they are supposed to be on a date?"

She turned and glared at him. He really knew how to piss her off, but she tried her best to remain calm. "Will you please leave me alone?"

"How could we leave a beautiful girl like you alone?" Sunggyu teased. She started to ball her hand up into a fist and Hoya took notice. She hasn't changed one bit.

"Please leave while I'm still asking nicely."

Sunggyu wrapped his arm around her and said "Come on Sweetie, wouldn't you rather hang out with seven handsome guys like us than some puny wimp who leaves you hanging?"

That was the last straw. She clenched her fist tighter and elbowed him in the side. He hunched over in pain as she crawled over him to get out of the booth. She was about to walk away when Hoya grabbed her wrist. She looked back at him in shock and then started to try and pry her wrist free.

"Ya" he said with a smile and she froze. His voice paralyzed her senses. She looked at his face once more. "Ya, It's me."

Her eyes widened in disbelief. "Ho?" she said as her free hand instinctively rose to her mouth.

"Ya" he replied as he stood up. He leaned in closer to her ear and whispered "But everyone calls me Hoya now."

She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him for all the years they had been apart. Then as she released him from her embrace, she began to pound on his chest with her fists. "Pabo!" she cried. "Why now? After all these years. I thought you had forgotten about me."

He willingly took the beating she gave and then wrapped his arms around her to comfort her. "I'm sorry" he said as he hugged her. Then he looked her in the eyes and said "MinJung." Her eyes widened. She had never heard him call her by name before. He took a deep breath and swallowed nervously before continuing. "MinJung, I'm sorry for not keeping in touch." He hugged her again. "I could never forget you. Why do you think I use the name Hoya?" She looked up at him and shook her head. "Because you are the one who thought of it, silly" he smiled.

Without realizing it, she rested her head on his chest. Just being in his arms was comforting. If only he knew how she felt. "MinJung" she looked up into his sparkling eyes one more. "I missed you" he said as he leaned forward and kissed her. He expected her to pull away, but was surprised when she didn't.

"I missed you too" she blushed as they separated.

"Well, guess that's settled" Woohyun said nonchalantly. "I suppose we should leave the two of them alone." The guys laughed as Hoya and MinJung turned red.

MinJung turned to Hoya and whisperly asked "Who are they?"

Hoya laughed "They are the members of my group. We are debuting soon."

"Then you haven't won the bet yet" MinJung stated flatly.

"Ya!"

"What? It's the truth isn’t it?" she looked to the table of guys.

"She does have a point" Sunggyu coughed.

"Hyung!" Hoya exclaimed and the guys all laughed.

"I thought I was the only one who could tease you like that!" Dongwoo said. "Come sit next to me and let's swap funny stories about Hoya" he patted the spot next to him and she happily sat down.

"YA!"

"What?" they all replied and then laughed when they saw Hoya's confused expression. Hoya couldn't help but laugh along with them.

The eight of them sat at the cafe talking for hours, when Sunggyu got a call from their manager. "Okay Hyung, Bye" he said as hung up the phone. "Sorry MinJung, but we got to go."

"That's okay!" she smiled.

They got up and waited outside while Hoya went to pay. "Thanks, I had a great time" she said to the group.

Hoya came out and gave her a back hug. "Hey! What are you doing?" she screamed.

"Just hugging my girlfriend" he replied as he continued to sway back and forth.

The rest of the guys started to walk away so as to give them a moment to themselves. MinJung turned around and faced Hoya. "So, what is your wish?"

"I thought you said that I hadn't won yet because we haven't officially debuted."

"Well, if that's how you feel" she turned around and started to walk away, only to be pulled back into his embrace.

"Not so fast!"

"But you said..."

"That I wish you were my girlfriend" he leaned forward and kissed her once more.
