This chapter is short but I promise the next one will be worth the while.

I opened the door and we went in. I hear my mother and father’s voices coming from the living room.

I went straight there.

“I told him that he…” My mother talked but stopped when she noticed me and J.D.

“Hello.” She smiled at J.D.

“Mum, dad this is my friend J.D.”

I introduced them and the shook hands.

“I wanted to ask you but I totally forgot. J.D wants to be a lawyer and I promised him that I will introduce you guys.”

“Well of course. Sit down kids.” My father smiled politely as me and J.D sat on the sofa across them.

“You want to be a lawyer?”

“Yes sir.”

“Oh please call me Kevin. So what do you want to know J.D?”

“Well.”

He looked at me insecure but I smiled comforting him. He continued very confident.

I listened to every word J.D had to say. He looked like a guy that wouldn’t care about anything but he talked passionate about his research. I looked at my parents who were amazed by his knowledge. I felt proud.  

“You are very talented J.D. I can’t believe you know all of these things. I think that even our employees don’t have this much knowledge about our job.” My mother smiled. “What college are you planning to go to?”

“I was thinking Harvard. I’m still working on my application.”

“We finished there.” My father smiled too. “Listen J.D I know you’re still young but I could really use someone like you in the firm. How about after college you come to work for us. Just to see how you like it.”

I wanted to do the happy dance. I can’t believe my father offered him a job. I could feel J.D’s happiness.

“I would be honoured.”

“And why don’t you come and visit us at the firm. Maybe you can even watch one of the trials.”

J.D smiled wide.

“Sure.”

After that my mother convinced him to stay for lunch so while we waited I offered a tour around the house. When we were in front of my room I felt shivers. I had never had a boy in my room before.

I opened the door and we went in. I didn’t say a word. He didn’t talk either. He just looked around and stood in front of the big shelve with more then hundred books.

“Have you read all of them?” He turned to ask me in surprise.

I nodded my head. He turned his head towards the wardrobe and his look went down to my drawers.

“Is this the drawer with your underwear.” He tried opening it but I quickly closed it and glared at him.

“That’s off limits to you.”

He smirked and just glared at me too. I heard my mum calling us so I grabbed his hand and pulled him out of my room. Can’t risk leaving him there.

“Oh I almost forgot.” I walked back into the room and brought him the clothes he borrowed me last time.

“Thanks.” He took them and we left downstairs.

After lunch I walked J.D out.

“This was a very productive day.” He smirked and opened the door of the car.

“Well I had a lot of fun.”

“Me too.”

“Can you bring me the books tomorrow? I have to finish the homework till Friday.”

“I will. See you.”

He stood like that like he was hesitating for something and then he came close to me and leaned his head. But he only kissed me on the cheek.

I blushed immediately.

“Since you did that last time I guess it was mine turn now. Bye sugar.” He smiled and got into his car driving away.

I stood there maybe five minutes after he left. My cheek was burning from his kiss. How can someone be so sweet and rough and make me hate him and like him in the same time. I feel like I’m captured in flames I can’t walk away from.

I was late. I was so, so late. I ran down the halls to get to class. A little tip. Spending the night thinking about your crush is a bad idea. Especially on a schools night. Now I was late. I turned left down the hall when I hit somebody and fell on my ass.

“Better watch where you’re going. You don’t know who you’re going to bump into.”

I lifted my head to see Steven smirking. I wanted to get up and run but there was no escape while I was on the ground. He offered his hand to help me get up but I refused and got up on my own.

I tried to walk pass him but he kept on blocking my way.

“What do you want? Just let me get to class.”

“Well why aren’t you already there. The class started ten minutes ago.”

“I’m late and it’s none of your business why.”

I tried again but no use.

“What do you want?” I yelled. He put his finger on his mouth telling me to keep quiet. “No need to yell sweetheart.”

I started walking backwards and turn to run but he grabbed my hand into a tight grip.

“Wrong move.”

“Let me go freak.” I tried to pull of. “If you don’t I’ll scream.”

“Listen you little bitch. You made a mistake when you decided to get involve in this and you really pissed me off the last time. I don’t see why I still haven’t done anything about it but I’ll give you a choice. Ether you convince J.D to come back to work for Craw or you are…” He did a knife with his finger under his throat. “Got it?”

I nodded my head. He let go of my hand. “Make sure you tell this to J.D.”

After I walked few steps away I glared angry. “Why do you want him anyway. Leave him alone. Find someone else to torture.”

“You care for him how sweet.”

I didn’t stop glaring angry.

“Run along sweetheart.”

“I am going now but I’ll be there when karma ass fucks you with a cactus. And I’ll laugh.”

Before he could process what I said I ran off to class. The teacher didn’t really make a problem while I was late so I got to my seat right away. Angie who was in the class with me looked at me with confusion but I just raised my shoulders and gave her the I’ll tell you later look.

After the bell rand Angie didn’t let me leave without telling her the problem first. I told her the short version.

“So who is this craw?”

“It’s J.D’s frenemy.”

“Come on we have to tell J.D.”

I pulled her hand when she tried to leave.

“Are you crazy? We can’t tell him.”

“Why?”

“Well mostly because he will probably do something stupid. You know J.D. He doesn’t think. He just acts.”

“But we can’t keep quiet. Steven is threatening you.”

“I know and I’m not going to keep quiet. I’m going to tell my parents and probably J.D’s parents too. J.D will probably hate me later but it’s for his own good.”

“You care for him don’t you?” She asked me with a low voice.

“I don’t see how not to. He changed my life upside down Angie. He is everything I hate and love in one. He makes me crazy and in the same time he makes me melt. He can be an asshole and he can be sweet. I can’t resist him.”

“Does he knows this?”

“Again, are you crazy? I’m not telling him anything. He might like me but it will be a short term relationship for him and you know I want more. So I’ll stick to this situation. Me liking him, he not knowing. It’s perfect.”

“Julie, in the end you have to tell him. How do you know what he feels? Johnny told me that he is changing around you. And he’s happier. Don’t you see that you’re made for each other.”

“Stop Angie. Just promise me you won’t tell him anything. Not about the crush not about the Steven thing. I’ll take care of it after school. Just don’t tell him.”

“Fine.”

“Now let’s go.”

Break time was the scariest thing I have ever experienced I caught Steven glaring at me couple of times. He was waiting to see if I have told J.D. I swallowed hard. I couldn’t eat or breathe in peace.

“Here is the book.” J.D handed me the book and I put it back in my bag. I was still feeling freaked out.

“Julie, are you okay?” J.D asked me while I was still starring in my plate.

“Yeah. I need to go to the bathroom to freshen up.”

I left everything and ran towards the bathroom. I need a little space and to breath in peace. Steven would sure not come in into the girl’s bathroom. Little peace was all I needed.

(J.D’s p.o.v.)

“What’s wrong with her?” I looked at Kayla and Angie but they were quiet. Too quiet. Kayla just raised her shoulders but Angie was quiet and avoided my look.

“Angie do you know something?”

“No.”

“She must have told you something.”

“Yeah but I can’t tell you guys I’m sorry.”

Angry I stood up and went for a walk. I know something is bothering her but I guess I’ll just have to find out after school. I heard Johnny running and yelling after me.

“What dude? Can’t you leave me alone for one second?” That came out harsh. But I needed a little time in peace.

“It’s about Julie. I convinced Angie to tell me what’s wrong.”

He looked worried. This can’t be good.

“Well speak up.”

“This morning Steven confronted her and threaten her.”

“What?” I growled.

“He wants you to go back working for craw and he told her if you don’t she will…” He did a finger like a knife under his throat.

“That son of a bitch…”

“The worst part is Julie wasn’t planning on telling you. She thought you’d do something stupid like going back to work for him so she was planning to tell her and yours parents.”

“Damn it.” I cursed over and over again. Why is she so…so…so… Ugh. She should have told me I would have…

“Did she come back?”

“No.” Fear spread in my veins.

“Where is Steven?”

“Don’t worry. Chris has an eye on him. What are you planning to do? Tell me you are not planning to go back working for that scumbag…”

“Why do you all go there? I’m not that stupid. But how can she do that? She should talk to me first. She has no idea who is she dealing with.”

Before Johnny could say anything I went after Julie. Maybe she’s still in the girl’s bathroom. Fury was rushing through my blood. She is so stubborn. So headstrong so…Can’t she just stay out of trouble?

I pushed the door wide open. Thank god she was safe. Now I can kill her myself for not telling me.
