Fifty Eight: When We Step Up Together (Part Two)

>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<

Flashback: In Sixth grade.

It’s break-time in the morning and Jeonghan is playing psp with some classmates inside the classroom. Just nearby is Seunghee with a couple of girl friends around her, all seated in a circle.

“Jeonghan, why don’t you just go to my school instead? We have to finish this battle. I bet another version of this game will come out next year,” the boy with him says.

“I can’t, my mom already enrolled me at Cheongdam Middle School. You tell your mom to transfer you there instead so we can continue playing games together,” he replies.

“Ah, I guess I’ll have to find someone better than you in playing this game there.”

“Good luck then. But you have to beat me first today.”

“Just watch me!”

Seunghee hears what he just said and she’s happy about it. It so happens that they are also talking about the middle school they’re going to.

“I think my mom enrolled me at Cheongdam Middle School,” she suddenly says.

“What? Why there? We can’t be classmates anymore if you go there Seunghee,” one girl complains.

“Then go with me there instead. You still haven’t got a school yet right?”

“Yeah, but mom doesn’t want that school. Anywhere else, just not that.I hope we can still keep in touch then.”

“I see... Well, it’s only a couple of rides away.”

“Yeah, but still…”

While busy playing, Jeonghan overhears it as well and happily rejoices deep inside. At least, they’re going to the same middle school. But in the midst of it, the other boy suddenly wins over him, beating him by a hair strand.

“What?!” Jeonghan sighs at it.

“Yeah!! I beat you at last!”

“Yeah right…. Just go to your middle school now.”

And the other boy keeps rejoicing for finally winning over him for the very first time. While Seunghee and her friends wonder at the side why their classmate is reveling like that.

In Tenth grade.

It’s almost the end of the school year and they have been taking entrance exams for various high schools. At the canteen, it’s lunch break and the only thing the graduating class has been chatting about is their preferred school choice.

“My mom wants me to go to Hyangnam high. It’s a shame, I really wanted to go to Hanlim high,” Seunghee shares with a couple a friends.

“Can’t you talk her to it?” a friend suggests.

“I can’t. She’s probably just gonna nag at me so I won’t even try.”

Her friends all just sigh about it. “It’s not fair to be a teenager,” she adds.

Jeonghan, who is sitting just behind her, is actually eavesdropping on her. He instantly makes a choice right then.

“So have you decided? Which school are you taking?” his friend asks.

“I’ll go to Hyangnam high,” he impromptu says.

“That’s your second choice! Why? You were so eager in going to Hanlim high just a few days ago,” his friends curiously asks.

“I think it’s better there. Just now.”

“Whoa, how are you gonna tell your parents about it?”

“Well, I don’t know. But I have this, they’ll probably let me off.”

“Good luck man.”

Overhearing him, Seunghee suddenly feels enlightened upon hearing Jeonghan’s decision. Maybe her mom made the right choice.

In Twelfth grade.

It’s the day before graduation. The rehearsals is ongoing for the graduation ceremonies. They’ve only had a short break before the practice continues. Seunghee is at the side of the stage with her colleagues and Jeonghan is only a few meters away from her, also with his friends.

“Seunghee, you got in both you school choices, which one will you take?” her friend asks.

“I don’t know yet. But probably Seoul State University. It’s my first choice anyways,” she replies.

“Good luck there. I heard most professional writers and composers come from there. It’s probably just gonna be a piece of cake for you.”

“No… I’m not that good. But I’ll keep you posted okay? Don’t change your accounts.”

“Yeah,” the other girls laugh at her.

Jeonghan hears it loud and clear, her voice is the only sound that matters to him inside that auditorium. It relieves him cuz the only university he got in is that university.

“Hey, good luck in Seoul State University Jeonghan! I heard you got in!” his friend says.

“Yeah, I barely made it but it’s all good,” he answers.

“And get yourself a girlfriend! You’re getting behind!” the others tease him.

“Yeah, yeah. I have this guys! I get it, I get it,” he only chuckles at them.

Just behind, Seunghee displays a simple smile infront of her friends out of the blue and they notice it.

“Why are you smiling Seunghee?”

“Huh? I’m not,” quickly scrapping the smile off her face.

“Were you thinking of someone? It’s a boy right? Spill it out Seunghee! It’s almost graduation and you still haven’t told us who you like!”

“No, I don’t have any! I wasn’t thinking of any boy girls! I just remembered something funny. Cut it out girls!”

The girls all tease her about it but they are all just making fun for memories to be left behind. On the other end, Jeonghan is being teased too. They are both clueless right now about what’s to come in the future. They have no idea that they are just about to experience the best part of their lives soon.

In College, year 1: first day of class in Instrument 101.

Seunghee is about to enter Seoul State University. Her first class is Instrument 101. She’s takes a deep breath as she steps inside the school premises. She’s glad and she’s looking forward to seeing Jeonghan again. They’re in college now and there’ll surely be a great number of difference in both school and personal stuffs. She’s excited to see him. Though she doesn’t know if she’ll be able to at least have a class with him. But she heard he’s majoring in music too. So it’s possible even if only for once to share the same schedule with him. She carries herself with poise even though her heart is pounding like a drum. This university is where she will make her dreams come true. She has to make the best of it all.

Jeonghan has arrived in the university premises too. He’s looking-good. He’s prepared for the next four years of battle within his course. And of course, there’s one person he’s definitely anticipating to see, his longtime crush Seunghee. He keenly searched the posted list of student blocks for each music course yesterday just to find her name. And after scanning a couple of pages on the board, he finally did. She’s not in the same block as him, but at least she’s in the same course. So today, the only thing left is to search for her, to have a glimpse of her extreme beauty once again.

He checks his schedule and finds Instrument 101 on the 9AM slot. He looks at the school map and finds his class building. It’s only a few blocks away and he’s right on the dot. When he reaches the room, there are already a couple of people there. Jisoo is already seated, as well as Seungcheol and a couple of seats away is Areum. Though it’s still that time where they are barely strangers who have only seen each other for the very first time. He finds a seat to occupy, right at the middle of the fourth row, comfortably waiting for the professor to arrive.

A few moments later, Seunghee enters the room. The first person she sees is Areum that she waves and smiles at instantly. Jeonghan’s world moves in slow motion as he lays his eyes on her. Her unwavering beauty is timeless. His heart is thundering once again. And as she walks inside the room, she turns her head to the other persons in it. She sees some unknown faces and then her heart skips a beat when she finally sees him. Jeonghan is there, and he is looking straight back at her. They both hesitate for a second whether to smile at one another or not. But they do, they give each other a nice warm smile like old classmates do.

But they both know that they’re only just acquaintances so Seunghee goes on to her seat beside Areum near the windows. She’s all smiles at her as they chat with one another. And a few seats behind, Jeonghan can’t help but stare at her without her knowing. Soon enough, the room is filled with fellow students and their professor comes in, starting their first ever instrument 101 class.

Smiling to themselves and feeling blessed for being in the same room again, they’re content. And it’s obvious that it’s the path that leads them to where they are now, together.

End of flashback

>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<

Jeonghan wraps her body with his arms as he continues to taste her mouth. Deep inside, she has actually been waiting for this. She just didn’t want to make the first move. That was why she was too annoyed at him sleeping. So she returns his kisses the same way. And she knows he likes it more when she does.

Shortly, he leaves her lips and nips at her ear and just below it, tickling her a little.

“Jagiya, wait-“

But it seems like he’s too absorbed in it today. He kisses her once more, deeper than the first time. More fervent than his usual kisses. His hands are also grabbing at crucial places at her back that she’s slowly getting mesmerized by his gestures and is weakening every second. It’s unfair, he has this much power over her already that she’s on the verge of giving in any minute.

Soon enough, they’re already laying down the bed. She’s neatly placed under his dominance and he’s giving her kiss marks at obvious places that will be a hassle for her to cover up later.

“Jagiya, come on, don’t do that…”

He lifts his head and faces her, cheeks heating up, “Where should I put them then?”

“Maybe somewhere hidden,” she almost whispers sexily.

His eyes widen at her remark. Her face is blushing and it’s enticing. It’s too much that he’s almost losing his cool. Why is she doing this? Is she leading him on? She better not reject her later. It’s gonna be too difficult for that to happen once he starts.

He slowly reaches for the hem of the shirt. He’s still gauging as to continue or not but she doesn’t react or anything so he goes on with it. He pulls the shirt up, taking it off her completely. He pauses for a second while on all fours above her, taking every bit of the scene before him completely. She’s shyly laying on the bed, staring up at him, only in her underwear.

After taking everything in, he takes off his shirt as well. She gasps at the sight before her. Now she’s having second thoughts, maybe it’s a bad idea seducing him after all. But he leaves her no time to deliberate as he instantly bends over her and kisses her forehead, down to her temples, her cheeks, neck and her collarbones. He hesitates but continues down between her breasts and rests there for a while. But she doesn’t say a word this time. She has lost her will to fight with him and in return, urges him to continue silently when she grabs his hair gently, as he can almost hear the pounding inside her chest.

Taking this as a sign to continue, he reaches for the hook of her bra and with no hassle unclasps it. For Seunghee not to feel too embarrassed about taking it off, Jeonghan kisses her as he tosses it to the floor and gives her a tight embrace. It feels mind-blowing. The feeling of each other’s bodies unwrapped. For him, for her, it’s a whole new experience.

They kiss some more holding each other like that. Feeling like they’ve finally begun a new stage in their relationship, he wants to touch her more, feel her more. He cups her mounds with his hands and owns an involuntary whimper from her. But this time, she starts to tremble slightly. He feels it but disregards it cuz his hormones are wildly rampaging and goes on. He does things, like licking, sucking and biting. And it makes her quiver even more.

She doesn’t say anything so he assumes it’s still okay to go on. He goes down even further. Touching her thighs, fondling her skin, tracing every inch of her upper body with kisses. Until he reaches that sacred part. He’s not in the right state of mind to stop now so he does what his hormones are telling him. He kisses her again and in a swift move, he insert his hand in her underwear and grabs that place.

He doesn’t know how it happened but in an instant, he’s thrown away at the foot of the bed. He looks back at her and she’s embracing herself, trying to wrap her nakedness under the sheets. And most important of all, she’s crying. And it seems like she’s been crying for a while now, something he failed to notice.

Then she tells him this, “I’m sorry jagiya. I’m sorry, I’m not ready yet. I’m sorry.”

This takes him back to reality. He clears his mind of all unearthly things and goes over her, worried and apologetic.

“I’m sorry. Jagiya, I’m sorry, I went too far. Please… stop crying. Please,” he stutters as he hugs her gently.

She’s still weeping and she looks awful, all because of him. He tries to comfort her even though he’s the reason for it. He was so consumed by his desires that he forgot to check on her. Now he’s done it. He’s probably gonna torture himself if she doesn’t get over it. It’s a good thing his little friend is still properly intact. He’ll probably scare the life out of her if she sees its condition now.

But as he deals with his troubles inside, she hugs him. He feels her embrace him tightly, probably the tightest one she ever gave him, her slight shivering still present.

She leans her head on his shoulder and says, “Don’t blame this on yourself. It’s all on me okay? I’m still a scared-y cat when it comes to this. So don’t torture yourself too much. Please jagiya?”

He feels reassured. He returns the tight embrace and buries his face on her shoulder too, “Thanks. Please don’t cry anymore. That will make me feel better.”

“Hm,” she murmurs and nods on him.

Jeonghan and Seunghee hug each other like that for a while. Both comforting each other, both reassuring one another that today is just another day they have to overcome in their relationship.

>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<

A few while later, they lay together under the sheets, both feeling each other’s warmth fully clothed now, as they hold one another. Seunghee feels like they’ve suddenly reached another milestone in their relationship. It’s only been eight months but look at them. It’s like they’ve been together all their lives.

“Jagiya, let’s go trekking some time,” she says.

“Trekking? Are you sure?” Jeonghan replies. “You know we’re both struggling with that kind of stuff.”

She chuckles, “Yeah, but I want to do everything with you while we’re still young and free and-“

He hugs her tightly then, “Yeah, let’s do that sometime. Let’s do whatever you want.”

“Yeah, thanks jagiya,” she hugs him back with a content smile on her face.

The storm is still raging outside. And it’s gonna take a little more time for her to get back to her own apartment for the meantime.
