I walk with Prim, who is making flames dance along the walls, lighting up the tunnel. Every now and then, she will check her watch and sigh. after what seems like hours walking, my stomach growls.

"I'm hungry." I whine.

Prim looks down at me and checks her watch. She turns to Bonnie.

"Come on, let's stop. Its almost 9 and we've been walking for hours."

Bonnie opens her mouth to debate but sighs and nods. we sit along the sides of the tunnel and pull out some food.

I eat an apple and am about to bite into a slice of meat but Prim stops me.

"We need to make it last." She says.

I grunt and grudgingly put it away. Prim pulls something out of her pocket.

"Oh, I forgot to give this to you." She opens her hand to reveal a necklace. A clear necklace. My necklace.

"What? How?" I stutter.

"I don't know." She shrugs and slips it around my neck.

"Hey, how about a little show before bed?" She grins.

I nod in eagerness. "Yes please!"

"Get settled then."

I snuggle against her and look up.

Her necklace glows blue first and some water is pulled off the wall. She makes a girl, with a tiara and a long dress.

The girl starts dancing, slowly and elegantly. She flys in the air, doing slow pirouettes to the non-existent music. Prim's necklace glows again and a prince of flames appears and starts dancing with the girl.

My eyes start to droop.

Then a sweet voice starts singing a song along with the dancers and I realize that Prim is singing.

'When the sun goes down,

And you can't sleep from all the sounds,

Just close your eyes,

And dream of a better night'

The lullaby echoes in my ears and I give in, closing my eyes, half asleep.

'When the days are long,

And the clouds cover the sun,

You know it's time to light the light'

Her song echoes in my ears and soon, I am swimming in dreams.

I wake a few hours later, and everyone is still asleep. Judging by Prim's watch, it is 6:30.

Quietly, I get up and walk away from the group. I walk along the tunnel in the darkness and think.

I think about my parents, and my brothers, as well as Prim and Bonnie.

I am so engrossed in my thoughts that I almost don't see it. A door in the side of the tunnel. I slowly open it and step inside.

It is a small room, with stairs leading upward. I look up and gasp. Way above, at the top of the stairs, I can see the sky. I slowly start climbing them, my eyes locked on it.

I climb out onto a concrete slab, in the middle of the bush. I go to the nearest tree and start climbing. I reach the top and look up. The sun is starting to rise, just creeping over the edge of the horizon. I stare in awe at the beautiful sight. all around is trees, but if I look back, I can just see the mountains of the arena. Good, we were going in the opposite direction.

I sit in the tree a little longer, before climbing down and walking back down the stairs.

I close the door behind me and once again I am enclosed in darkness. I sigh and walk back along the tunnel. I run into the group on my way back.

"Daisy! Where were you? We woke up and you were gone!" Prim frets.

"Sorry." I whisper, looking at the ground.

"It's ok. Just never do it again." She sighs, putting her arms around me. I hug her back and then pull away.

"Come on, I want to show you something." I say, and I can hear the excitement in my own voice.

I turn and start running back down the tunnel. They follow and soon enough, we arrive at the door. I stop and catch my breath. Everyone else is doing the same except Bonnie.

"A way out." She pushes it open and walks through.

"Bonnie, wait." Prim starts and we step through as well. Bonnie is already making her way up the stairs. We all follow and climb out into the sunlight. Everyone squints against the sudden light but summer starts climbing a tall tree. At first I don't notice but then I see her, working her way through the branches. I decide to do the same.

Branches scratch my face as I climb and the sun that has just set is already heating up the forest. I look up and see that Summer is at the top. She is staring at something. I climb the last few branches and follow her gaze. At first I don't see it. Then when I do, it blocks my vision, and I feel stupid that I didn't see it before.

On the horizon, is the small outline of a city. With skyscrapers and towers. The familiar outline of the Capitol.

"We're almost home." Summer breathes.

"Almost. But not yet. It will take at least 2 months to get there on foot, and when we do, we still have to walk to the rest of the districts, which could take longer than a year."

She looks over at me, and gives me a determined smile.

"Yeah, but we're close."

"True that." I reply and gaze at the city.

"Sometimes you don't really act like an 8 year old." She says.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I snap.

"Nothing bad." She says. "Your just really mature for your age."

"Well, I just got out of the hunger games, so that might attribute to it."

"I guess."

After that, I start climbing back down. I land on the ground and run over to Prim. I can see the hope in my eyes mirrored in hers.

"What is it?" She asks.

I smile, my heart flying. Summer was right. We were almost there.

"What is it?" Prim asks again.

"It's.... Well, come see yourself." I climb another tree and she follows. When we reach the top she looks about and gives me a funny look.

"What?" She asks and I nod in the right direction. She turns her head and looks as well. At first her expression is just confusion. Then her eyes widen and she blinks a few times.

"The Capitol." She whispers.

"Wait, what? The Capitol!" Bonnie says from below us and starts climbing another tree.

"Holy crap, we're close." We hear her say. "We're close!" This time she shouts. "We're almost home!"

Soon, everyone is dancing about, in what would be a party if we had music. I am dancing too and I bump into Tyan. I look into his eyes and hug him.

"Hey!" He says.

"Hey." I pull away.

"What was that?" He asks, with a smile.

I shrug and smile. "I don't know! Who cares! We are nearly there!"

"Too true." He smiles and I continue dancing.

I laugh and look up.

"We are nearly there!"
