Chapter 35

Sorry the last chapter was so bad and ended on a cliffy. I've been reading this awesome book, called pregnant in the games, and it was so good. Then I finished it.....

Anyway, here's the next chapter. What will happen? Read to find out!

______

Twill. No. Not Twill.

I could see Max's evil face in my head as she was strapped down. She looked so beat. She had scars and cuts all over her and a thin white line reaching from her forehead to her neck. She walked with a limp and her clothes were the same as the last time I saw her.

The people finished strapping her to the wall and turned and left. The creature stared at her hungrily and her eyes were full of fear. This couldn't be happening. Twill was... Well, Twill. Se couldn't die. Why had they tortured her? Why were they killing her? Max must have a plan of some sort.

Sure enough, the screen goes back to Max's evil smile.

"I'm sure you have recognised Twill." He starts. I step forward, half in courage, half in fear. Even though I'm not sure he could hear me, I shout up at him.

"What have you done to her!?"

He pauses, and his smile grows wider, so I know he heard me.

"She was a little... Stubborn, with us." He smirks.

"You broke her!" I shout.

"Well, that's a way to say it. I suppose we did. She gave us some good information though."

"What?" What information could Max want out of Twill?

He waves his hand, dismissing the subject.

"I suppose we should let her hear the sound of your voice. I'm sure it will make her feel... Better." He said the word 'better' slowly, his voice dripping with sarcasm. The camera turns back to the room, with Twill hanging at one end and the creature held back at the other.

"Ok. Say what you want. You're on." Max's voice says. I take a deep breath and look up at the sky.

"Twill!" I shout.

She lifts her head up and her eyes suddenly fill with worry.

"Prim? Where are you?" She calls, searching around her.

"I'm down here, in the arena. Bonnie's here too." I call.

"The arena? Is that still going? I thought you had already died. Max told me you died?"

A feeling of anger surges through me, at the thought that Twill was told I was dead.

"I gave up hope. You were gone. They came everyday and tortured me. After a while I let them. It was easier than resisting..."

Her eyes cloud over, and her head slumps. Unconscious.

The camera flicks back to Max.

"What did you want out of her?" I ask, determined.

"Information. About you. I needed to find the best way to get to you."

Fear grows in me. Strong fear. What had she been tortured into telling him? He seems to read my mind.

"I figured out your weakness a little while ago. First when the Careers ambushed you and tortured all your friends. You showed it then."

My heart hurts at the memory. I had thought I'd lost Daisy, Summer and all of my other friends. I try not to show my sadness and manage to pull off a face of courage.

"Then when Zara died, you showed it again. Your weakness? Your friends."

The camera changes back to the room. The force is let go and the monster lurches forward. It all goes in slow motion.

The creature soars towards Twill and she suddenly regains consciousness. She glances up, sees the monster heading towards her and her eyes suddenly grow clear. She opens her mouth and mouths a single word.

Goodbye.

The creature reaches her and its gaping mouth opens. The black mist spills out and Twills body goes limp. Her eyes cloud over, and the monster turns and paces back to the other end of the room. People remove Twills body and tears fill my eyes. How did this happen?

My moments with Twill fill my mind. When her, Bonnie and I sat at the pond. Us trekking through the bush to the orchard. When we were all watching the movie. Her cooking dinner. Then lastly, I see her sad face mouthing goodbye. I break down, falling onto Bonnie. I sob into her shoulder, completely forgetting Max. When I finally get myself together, I look back up at him in anger and determination. Without knowing what I'm doing, I burst.

"You are a BASTARD! You're a cruel, evil bastard. You deserve to die a painful death!" I shout at him, letting the insults fall off my tongue.

"Watch it." He snaps, but I continue.

"You are completely suited to Coin. You are both cold hearted beasts."

He growls and suddenly,I realise I crossed the line. I snap my mouth shut but it is too late. With the simple press of a button, Daisy starts to howl beside me. She holds her arm in pain.

"It hurts!" She cries.

"Daisy!" I try to comfort her as she starts to cry.

"They can be used for more than tracking." Max growls above us.

I burst. I feel myself fly up. I pull the water from the lake around me and lift myself up. I hear a crackle and Tyan flys up next to me, standing on a pole of flames. Juliet shoots up on my other side, standing on a thick vine type trunk.

I stare defiantly at the sky where Max looks down at us, surprised, slightly scared.

"We're ready. Come get us." I shout and my skin tingles.

I look either side of me at both of them. They nod at me, telling me that they were on my side. A thought occurs to me. I pull out a stream of water and start to draw a flower with it. A primrose to be exact. Juliet sees what I am doing and rings it with actual flowers. Finally, Tyan adds his bit. An arrow made of fire, heading straight through it. A primrose with an arrow through it. As small as Katniss's pin, yet holding so much meaning. I reach out and touch it. The fire licks my fingers but doesn't burn me. I grab it and look at it closely. It was completely right. I held it firmly in my hand and looked up at Max's now completely scared face. I hold up my arm and open my hand, showing the flower.

It was a symbol. It meant so many things. It respected the many deaths of the other tributes. It meant we were sick of this. It meant we would not give up until we got out.

Ok, I know it's kinda short but please please please comment if you liked it! This book is nearly over, and I really want to know that it wasn't all bad and confusing.
