Where we are

I've walked through the many forests

That grew in front of me

Fought my way through jungles

Wild animals, swamps, disease

Crossed the scorching deserts

Lived with my fantasies

Felt the stinging winds

That brought me to my knees

Followed the mighty rivers

Awed by their power and scorn

Stood atop the waterfalls

Felt like I was reborn

Dove into the chilling depths

Swam every brook and stream

Nearly drowned in co-existence

With pride and self esteem

Found myself at the ocean

Saw the horizon disappear

Lost sight of the world itself

But my destination, crystal clear

Drifted out to eternity

On a vessel strapped with fate

Felt the rage of the water's depth

But anger soon abates

Stood beneath the majesty

That reached up to the sun

Knowing it's my destiny

Where my journey will be done

Now atop the universe

I gaze both near and far

Ask myself the question

"Are we aware of where we are?"
