Lady (I won't bring you flowers)
Lady (I won't bring you flowers)
I saw her first in a bar in New York City
She looked alone, that's how she caught my eye
So I went up and asked her if she needed
Someone to help pass the time
She smiled and said, "I could sure use someone
And you're the first one who's had the time.
I just need someone I can talk to."
Later she said, "Will it be your place or mine?"
And I said
Lady, I won't give you flowers
But I won't treat you like the others do
And lady; lady if you want me
I'll spend the night with you
The sun was shining early the next morning
Seemed like things had finally gone my way
I'd found a girl, one that I could hold to
I knew right then she had to stay
But she was gone, left but a memory
I couldn't understand where I'd went wrong
Then I remembered the words I had told her
I wanted her near, but she felt she didn't belong
When I said
Lady, I won't give you flowers
But I won't treat you like the others do
And lady; lady if you want me
I'll spend the night with you
So I went back to that bar in New York City
And she was there sitting all alone
So I went up, took her hand in my hand
Gave her a rose, said won't you please come home
Oh yea
Lady, I give you this flower
And a love that is oh so true
And lady; lady if you want me
I'll spend my life with you
