Hear the Children Laugh

Hear the Children Laugh

A moment's sweep

Of days gone by

A quiet thought

Behind closed eyes

He remembers how

On sunny days

He'd hear the children

As they played

In silence, a tear

Rolls down his face

He opens his eyes

Sees the barren place

What had once been

Is all but gone

And the children laugh

Only

Through the words of a song
