Fate (the Tree of life)
Fate (the Tree of life)
Imagine a tree
It begins as a mere seedling
A tiny plant fighting for life
Among all the other plants that surround it
As the years pass
If it survives
It grows, forever reaching upwards
It's trunk widening to accept the growth above
Branches developing
Reaching out
In every direction
Like arms seeking its own path
But never straying
From the trunk itself
So the tree grows
Year after year
Reaching for the stars
More branches, with their own branches
Leaves flourish and die
A new rebirth every year
In time the tree may nourish
And create its own family of trees
With their own branches
But one thing remains
From the top of the tree to the bottom of the tree
The trunk
From which all branches grow
From which all nourishment flows
From which all stories begin
To me Fate is like a Tree
I believe that once we are born of this world
Our Book is written
We all follow a predetermined path
That is set
Firmly
Like the trunk of a tree
We will stray from this Path
Many times as we go along in life
Like the branches of the tree
But we will always
We have to always
Return to the path
At a predetermined date
At a predetermined time
At a predetermined place
Where the branches and the trunk meet
Because at that point
Someone
Or Something
That is crucial to our lives
Will be there
We have to meet this
Person
Or we have to be a part of this event
Because that person
Or that event
Will be influential
To the future of who we are
The continuous growth of the tree
Our lives will be a mixture
Of joy and new beginnings
The growth of new leaves
But also of sadness
And finality
The dropping of the leaves
But always linked
To the paths we take
And the main path we have to follow
We cannot cheat fate
What will be is written
We can only stray so far
Before we have to return to the path
Fate will always force us back
Like the breaking of a branch in a windstorm
I believe that we should follow every path
Explore every option open to us
Live every day to the extent that we are allowed
Because we cannot escape the inevitable
The end of the path
The very top of the tree
Fate is a path we cannot escape
But that does not mean it is one we cannot enjoy
No matter what you believe in
There is only one fact that we cannot escape
If we are born
We will surely die
We have but one chance
That is something we all must surely
Believe
