Believe

Am I any less of a man


Because I don't believe like you do?


Am I such a different person


Because I don't see, what you believe to be true?


Am I not allowed to see things my way?


Is there but one way for it to be so


Who told you this is the way it must be


Please tell me. How do they know?



We can both read the same poem


But do you see what I see?


Hear the greatest piece of music ever written


Walk away different, emotionally


Read the greatest book ever written


Full of love, devotion, faith, inspiration


But I get a different purpose than you do


Does that mean you have more dedication?


You can call me untrue, cynic, a hypocrite


But this is the way I perceive


If you can't allow me my own beliefs


Then maybe it's you, that does not believe
