Kakashi POV

~ Day before Kakashi's date ~

Kakashi had just finished his mission and is currently jumping from tree to tree back to the leaf village with his squad. He was annoyed with his performance today. His lack of focus almost caused him to fail his mission. If Itachi hadn't stepped in and saved him at the last minute, he would've been dead. What happened? Kakashi thought he finished off his opponent and let his guard down. How could he have been so careless to not finish off the enemy? Well, there's only one explanation for this.

"It sounds like you're more focused on getting home then your own well-being, is someone waiting for you captain?" Itachi asks as they both stop on a tree branch for a break.

Kakashi remained silent. He didn't want to admit he wanted to see you again before your date. Or at least he thought it was a date.

Itachi smiled. "That person must be special to distract you during missions. But that's all the more reason you should protect yourself from harm's way, so our loved ones don't have to worry so much at home when we're away."

Kakashi sighed with exhaustion. He must be losing his edge to have Itachi, the youngest member in his squad, give him advice. But he was right.

"I suppose you're right. Let's finish up so we can make it back to the village before nightfall."

"Right!" Itachi says as he puts his mask on.

~ Meanwhile, back at the Leaf Village ~

(Name) POV

"Gai, why are you following me?" you say as you are shopping for groceries. You ran into Guy while you were dropping Naruto off at the academy, and he's been with you ever since.

"Well, that's a great question! I am protecting you from men that would possibly target you while Kakashi is away! It's the least I can do for him!" Gai says while observing the area.

You were blushing, not because of Gai, but because you thinking about Kakashi. "I wonder if he is excited about tomorrow like I am... I wish tomorrow was an actual date" you thought as you have a flashback of your failure to ask him out.

"Why do you feel the need to do that? It's not like we're together..." you say with a hint of disappointment in your voice.

"Well, even so, you're still special to Kakashi. I haven't seen him pay attention to a girl for a long time. And that tells me you can change him!" Gai says while striking a pose, you can almost see a light shine down on him.

"Gai I wish I had your energy." You laughed as you exit the market with your groceries. Gai was carrying some bags as well.

"You should train with me sometime! You'll build up some stamina in no time! By the way, why do you need all this food for? Seems a bit too much for one person to eat." Gai says as he notices he is carrying a whole bag full of instant Ramen.

You laugh nervously. "Well between me and my younger brother, we can eat a whole months supply of food in a matter of days so I got to keep food in stock before my brother blames me for eating our food. Even though I'm the one paying for it."

"I understand. One can never deny food! No matter how strong the resistance!" Gai replies trying to sound understanding.

"Speaking of Kakashi, it looks like he's back from his mission already. Hey Kakashi! Over here!" Gai shouted, earning stares from some of the villagers.

Kakashi was walking next to a boy who looked younger than you with long raven colored hair and onyx eyes. Kakashi seemed calm as he walked over to you. "How can he be so relaxed when I haven't even seen him since that day. I guess he's not excited about tomorrow like I thought he would be" you thought as you look away from him upset. What you didn't know was that Kakashi had longed to see you since then.

"Hey (Name), Gai. What are you two doing?" Kakashi asks with suspicion in his one eye.

"Gai was helping me take my groceries home. Why do you ask?"

"No reason..."

Gai could tell Kakashi needed a push in the right direction if he was ever gonna tell (Name) his feelings. A smirk formed on his face, something Itachi had noticed and smiled as well. Almost as if he completely understood the atmosphere.

"Say Kakashi, can you do me a favor and help (Name)-chan with her groceries? I realized I promised to be somewhere else today." Gai says while handing over the bags to Kakashi.

"Sorry, I can't. I have to make a report to Lord third about today's mission. Maybe another time." he says slowly noticing the disappointment on (Name)'s face. He felt guilty.

Itachi, observing from behind, immediately took action. "No worries, I can take care of the report. I actually have to speak to Lord Hokage about something today." Itachi smiled then began walking. "See you, until next time!" Itachi looked back and winked at Gai and Kakashi as if he had done an honorable deed. This only made Kakashi uneasy. Gai was thrilled with how the tables have turned!

"With that said, I have to go! Bye (Name)-chan and Kakashi!" Gai took off giving Kakashi you better tell me everything that happened next time I see you face while crying tears of joy. Kakashi wanted to strangle Guy but didn't show it in his facial expression.

For a good moment, you two just stood there in silence just looking at each other. You noticed Kakashi was taller than you, which only added on to the list of great qualities you had made of him. But you did wonder, why does he cover his face? "Does he have buck teeth?" You could only imagine.

"Umm, we should probably get going." Kakashi said flustered from your staring.

"Oh! Right sorry!" You started walking embarrassed that you were staring.

~ TO GAI! SOMEWHERE NEARBY OBSERVING THE MOMENT FROM AFAR! ~

"Seems like I win this round Kakashi! The power of youth is strong within this one!" Gai smiles causing his teeth to shimmer as he disappears.

~ At (Name)'s apartment ~

"Oh my god! Kakashi is in my house! Aren't we skipping too many steps right now?! We didn't even go out on a real date yet!" You thought to yourself panicking. Kakashi was sitting at the kitchen table watching you make tea for him. He was just there acting all nonchalant.

"Here you go, you must be exhausted from your mission." You say as you sit beside him. You realized as soon as you sat down he had finished the tea you made. "Already?!" you yelled in shock. You were hoping you could see his face.

"Thank you for the tea, I should get going." he tried to get up while saying that but you grabbed his wrist and he looked at you, surprised.

"Stay."

Kakashi found himself staring at you. You were extremely red, realizing you had done something embarrassing and turned your attention to the ground. In just an instant, he pulled you out of your seat and wrapped his arms around you in a tight embrace. You froze. You and Kakashi were inches away from each other's faces. The only thing blocking you from his lips was his mask. You had your hands at the end of his mask, but Kakashi didn't push you away. Almost like he wanted you to see him. You slowly started pulling it off, almost at his lips.

Bam!

The door swings open. With your reflexes, you both managed to push away from each other. Kakashi looked like he had put his mask back on in a flash.

"Nee-chan!!!!!! I'm going out to eat with Iruka-sensei! I'll be home la-.... who's the dude?" Naruto asks giving Kakashi a bad look.

"A friend. Now hurry up, don't make Iruka-sensei wait! Don't come home too late, bye!" You push Naruto out the door and slammed it shut. Man was your younger brother a mood killer. It had completely slipped your mind Naruto would've been out of the academy at this time.

"I should probably go." Kakashi said while caressing your cheek. Then he opened the door where Naruto was still standing, completely confused. "I'll see you tomorrow." he smiled and left. As soon as his presence disappeared, you let out a big sigh, as if you were holding your breath the entire time.

"Nee-chan are you alright? Your face is red!" Naruto said concerned.

"I've never felt better pipsqueak."
