Chapter 22

~ Time Skip ~

Danzo was currently fighting against Sasuke. He had reached his limits and used Izanagi for far too long, resulting in all the Sharingan on his right arm to lose their light. Danzo was near death with a deep wound in his chest as he held Karin hostage, calculating what method would have the most successful outcome for the use of Shisui's eye. Using Shisui's incredible genjutsu to manipulate anyone it was casted on or waste the eye using Izanagi? He also remembered the scroll that was slipping out of his clothing. It was slightly opened with his blood staining it. If he wasn't successful in trapping Madara in Shisui's genjutsu, then his only means for survival is to use (Name) to heal him or escape.

Madara had been watching the fight from afar at the end of the bridge. He did not fail to notice the scroll that was sticking out of Danzo's clothes. Everything was going the way he wanted, he knew you were sealed within the scroll due to white zetsu's information. All he had to do was take the scroll away from Danzo. He had the strangest feeling that the situation was heading into a interesting turn. Madara stood up as the wind was hitting him, wondering what move was Sasuke was going to make in this hostage situation. Would he find an alternative method to save his valuable asset of a teammate or will he simply take advantage of the fact Danzo was nearly out of options.

"Isn't it ironic that you, who glorified self-sacrifice, would take a hostage?" Sasuke spoke calmly as he had Chidori ready at the palm of his hand, watching Danzo as he shamelessly held Karin in a choke hold.

"It's not that I consider my life precious. But for the sake of the Leaf Village, for the ninja world... I can not afford to die." Danzo struggled to speak as he was bleeding and running out of time. The best course of action was to summon (Name) to attack Sasuke so he could fight Madara before he ever had the opportunity to do so.

"Sasuke... help me..." Karin spoke in between breaths as she tried using what little strength she had to break free from Danzo's grasp. Sasuke only watched her as he slightly leaned his head.

"Karin... don't move." Sasuke said calmly, bringing a smile to Karin's face. She felt relieved that Sasuke was going to attempt to save her. Danzo prepared for Sasuke's next move, waiting for him to take a step.

Suddenly, Sasuke's face grew dark before he used Chidori to pierce both Karin and Danzo. Karin coughed out blood, in shock of Sasuke's actions. Blood had gushed out from Danzo's mouth as he realized Sasuke threw away his comrade's life, as if she wasn't useful anymore.

"Since you managed to get taken hostage, you're nothing but a burden... Karin." Sasuke smiles, rejoicing over that fact that Danzo was dying. Happy that he was one step closer to avenging his older brother. Danzo loosened his grip on Karin, causing her to fall to the ground. She took one last glance at Sasuke before falling unconscious. Danzo struggled to breathe as he watched Sasuke. He was out of options, the only thought in his mind was to escape. He started to slowly run away as Sasuke smirked while following him. He struggled to get far until he grabbed the scroll with his left arm, ready to open the scroll to break its seal. As he reached the end of the bridge with Sasuke closely behind him, Madara slowly appeared in front of him. It was noticeable that he was pleased with the outcome of the battle.

"I'll be taking Shisui's eye now along with that scroll... Danzo." Madara spoke while looking down to Danzo, who was ready to collapse. Sasuke watched as he suddenly remembered the day other Uchiha members questioned Itachi about Shisui's death. Danzo suddenly had a flashback of his early days as a ninja, more specifically when he showed fear and hesitated to volunteer as a decoy in order to save his comrades along with the Second Hokage. He felt ashamed and infuriated on how much of a coward he was that Sarutobi Hiruzen showed more courage and was named Third Hokage after the Second's sacrifice. A sudden feeling came over him. If he was going to die, he would take the remaining Uchiha with him, or else he wouldn't be able to face his friend for his shameful deeds. He wanted to at least rid the world of the future possibility of war.

Danzo threw the scroll over the bridge as the force of the wind opened the scroll, breaking the seal in the process. The scroll had been floating as a sudden cloud of smoke cleared to reveal you floating above the water unconscious. Madara felt your very weak presence and was surprised by the state you were in.

"For the sake of the ninja world and the Hidden Leaf... I will not let you live!" Danzo yelled before revealing a seal on his chest. Madara took a step back as he realized what Danzo planned to do.

"Sasuke! Get away from Danzo!" Madara yelled as he slipped through the ground. Sasuke jumped away to avoided the explosion. After the explosion faded, both Madara and Sasuke stood beside one another, watching Danzo's body lay lifeless in the crater he created.

"That was the Collateral Damage sealing jutsu. It would've sealed you inside his corpse. He most likely set it up to activate at the moment of his death. That was close." Madara spoke as Sasuke looked up to the sky and took a breath.

"We'll head for the Hidden Leaf next." Sasuke spoke firmly.

Madara only hummed as he jumped to Danzo's corpse. He looked down to the bridge to see you floating above the water, as the black chain marks around your body slowly were fading. Madara knew he had to take you before you were free from what looked to be a jutsu that sealed away your chakra. He only figured as much because he could just barely sense a glimmer of your chakra.

"Sasuke, don't be hasty. Go back to the hideout and rest. You used up too much strength, not to mention that your eye is losing its light. Patience is necessary to reach one's goal." Madara said before using his eye to take Danzo's body. Sasuke only watched before he began to feel your presence nearby. He grabbed  the hilt of his sword but was stopped when Madara appeared in front of him.

"I know you sense her presence here as well. But you shouldn't kill the person that Itachi confided in the most and spent all his energy in protecting." Madara said, shocking Sasuke in the process.

"What are you talking about? (Name)-sensei knew about Itachi?" Sasuke questioned as he looked at his old teacher, the person who sharpened his sense of strategy in battle, and his rival's older sibling.

"She can tell you more about Itachi that I have no knowledge over, and she's very valuable. I'm taking her as well to the hideout. Until then, take my advice and get rid of that girl if you don't need her. She knows too much. We will meet again, Sasuke." Madara spoke before he jumped towards you. He touched your arm as he used Kamui and disappeared with you.

'Why does she get to live and go back home... Why does Naruto get to have his older sibling back and not me... How is this fair!' Sasuke thought before he clenched his fists. He was in an extremely foul mood so he decided to get rid of Karin and quickly leave before anymore eyesores showed up. But before he could even strike her with Chidori, he heard someone call out to him. He turned around to find a very familiar pink haired girl.

"It's you, Sakura."

Naruto managed to escape from Yamato and started following Kakashi with his Sage mode activated. All he could think about was his past experiences and trying to piece it together with his emotions. He wanted to understand Sasuke the best way he could. But Naruto understood why Sasuke told him he would never understand him. At least his sister was still alive... or that's at least what Naruto believed.

'Sakura, don't do anything reckless until I can get there!' Naruto thought as he jumped from branch to branch. More flashbacks ran through his mind as almost everyone turned on Sasuke and labeled him a threat. He didn't know what was the right thing to do. Naruto didn't want to kill Sasuke, but at the same time he was going to defend the Leaf at all costs.

'Would things have been different if we switched places... I don't know what to do... but if I see you again, I think I'll know my answer.'

~ To Kakashi ~

Kakashi was running towards the bridge until he noticed Sasuke about to strike Sakura with Chidori. He managed to make it in time and grab Sasuke's hand before it could harm her. Kakashi was shocked from his intent to kill.

"How you've fallen, Sasuke!" Kakashi said before he dodged Sasuke and kicked him back. He had caught Sasuke until he used a substitution and backed away.

"Sakura, you tried to kill Sasuke all alone, didn't you?" Kakashi spoke as he kept he focus on Sasuke. Sakura only looked away as she realized she had been discovered and nearly died if it wasn't for her sensei.

"You don't need to carry such a heavy burden. I was the leader of Team 7, it was my cowardice that split everyone up. I said something irresponsible in order to put you at ease... maybe I was trying to convince myself as well. Forgive my carelessness." Kakashi spoke as Sakura was holding back her tears. He turned his attention back at Sasuke and prepared himself. Kakashi knew that Sasuke was not going to back down without a fight.

"Sasuke. I don't like to repeat myself but I'll so this one last time. Do not become possessed by vengeance!" Kakashi said as he remembered when he tried to convince Sasuke in the past to forget about revenge. Sasuke began to laugh maniacally before he stopped.

"Itachi, my father, my mother... My entire clan! Bring them all back! Only then will I stop!" Sasuke yelled as he felt his anger rise.

"I don't want to kill you." Kakashi tried to keep the situation from escalating even further, but he knew his words weren't reaching Sasuke.

"You make it sound like you could kill me whenever you please. Stop acting like you're still my sensei. I'm just itching to kill you, Kakashi..! Then maybe I'll kill (Name) too! For lying to me when she could've told me the truth!" Sasuke clenched his fist as he spoke, many in the village didn't know about Itachi but (Name) did. All Sasuke felt was betrayal from you, if you would've told him back then about Itachi then he could've gotten his older brother back.

There was a long pause as Kakashi just thought about how Madara made Sasuke twisted. Kakashi didn't know whether to believe the things Madara said about Itachi, but the fact that (Name) also knew about this for a long time does raise the possibility of it being true. But how did she know? Was Itachi her accomplice?

"Sakura... heal that girl so she can at least speak. We still have time and she has a lot of information about the enemy. Take her and get away from here."

"What about you, Kakashi-sensei?" Sakura asked, concerned about what was about to happen.

"I'll take the burden off your shoulders, it's my responsibility. Hurry and go, Sakura."

"Right." Sakura only agreed so she could heal Karin. The last thing she wanted was for Kakashi to bare the responsibility and take care of her mistake. For now, all she could do was grab Karin and take her to the edge of the bridge to begin first aid.

"As the leader of Team 7, I will settle this once and for all." Kakashi spoke sternly as he took his coat off. Sasuke only scoffed at his words.

"I don't like repeating myself either. Stop acting like you're still my sensei."

"I finally understand what the Third Hokage must have felt." Kakashi spoke as he lifted his headband to reveal his Sharingan. Sasuke simply cracked his knuckles as he prepared to fight once more.

"You will leave the same way as the Third!"

~ To (Name) ~

You slowly opened your eyes as you were wondering what was going on. Suddenly, you remembered talking to Danzo, which caused a wave of panic to flow through you. You quickly sat up as you realized you were laying down on a bed but felt light headed and nearly fell back on the pillow. You held yourself up as your head began to throb.

'Where the hell am I... did Danzo lock me away somewhere? No... I can feel my chakra slowly returning. If I was still under his control I wouldn't recover any of my chakra... what on earth is going on..?' You thought to yourself as you sat at the edge of the bed. You looked over to the nightstand and saw water along with a plate of food. You couldn't help but feel suspicious of the sudden meal in front of you. Unfortunately that did not stop your stomach from growling and your thirst from taking the opportunity to satisfy your needs.

As you were eating, you heard footsteps approaching you from the dark corner along with a familiar deep chuckle. You turned pale as you recognized it. You then faced to the direction the footsteps were coming from only to have your suspicions confirmed.

"M-Madara..."

"I'm glad to see you haven't forgotten about me... (Name). We have a lot to catch up on, don't we?" Madara smirked as he took his mask off and set it down on a nearby table.

"W-Why are you here... the last thing I remember was talking to Danzo!" You were thrown into a state of panic. You were defenseless and had no means to fight Madara. You were at his mercy and he knew that very well as he was removing his weapons and taking off his gloves.

"Danzo, huh... well I guess I'll spare you te details and get straight to the point. Your former student, Sasuke, killed Danzo as a start to his revenge towards the Leaf. You just happened to be sealed away and in Danzo's possession during that time. Which was something I have calculated to happen." Madara smirked as he sat down on a chair beside the table. Your breath hitched as a result to his words.

'Revenge towards the Leaf...? If what he says is true then...'

"Sasuke knows the truth about Itachi..." you spoke quietly as you looked down to your hands, shaking at the thought of how enraged Sasuke must feel. Madara only clapped as he chuckled.

"Correct, great observation skills (Name)." Madara spoke as he stood up and walked towards you. You couldn't move as fear washed over you, which pleased Madara as he stood in front of you. He brutally grabbed your throat as you desperately gasped for air in shock.

"Not mention I know about you teaming up with Itachi. But what I don't know is what you two were scheming. Itachi was clever but always had a soft spot for you, or am I wrong?" Madara said as he tightened his grip on your throat. You groaned in pain as your vision doubled and felt dizzy.

"I-Ita... chi..." you struggled to say before you noticed a seal on your hand begin to glow. Suddenly, a swarm of black crows appeared from the marking and flew around you as if there were a barrier. Madara quickly jumped back the moment the crows appeared.

"Protecting you from beyond the grave I see. Itachi really did not leave no stone unturned. Truly intelligent indeed. But that only proves my point further." Madara spoke as he stood straight and frowned at you. You slowly caught your breath as you stared directly at Madara, feeling a deep guilt rise within you.

"Itachi cared deeply for you, (Name). One might even call it love."
