Kanon: Uncle Lucifer...?

Kanon interrupted him before he could even find the words to say to Mammon. The two adult demons look down at the girl who had finished her plate.

Lucifer: Oh...sorry...did you want seconds?

Kanon: Actually...I wanted to ask you something....

What she asked next made Lucifer sprouted an regretful expression on his face.

"Why Did You Hurt Papa?"

Lucifer:....

Kanon: Uncle Lucifer...I asked you a question. Why did you hurt Papa?

Mammon: Yeah Luci....Why did you hurt me?

Even though Mammon already knew most of it but he felt like Lucifer was still keeping something from him. Then again, Lucifer is his big brother. The type of person who would bottle up every dark secret he could and take it to the grave.

Lucifer: Mammon...I...

Kanon:....

He look down at the little girl who he knew will not leave her spot til her question is answered.

Lucifer: I...just wanted to protect him...

Mammon:...

Kanon: Protect Him? But you hurt him...

Lucifer hesitated to find the next words to say feeling scared that if he's not careful. Mammon will kick him out of the house and tell go back to HOL...and never return.

Lucifer: I...understand that yes...But...after we lost Lilith...I was afraid...

Mammon: ?!

Lucifer Morningstar? The perfectly flawless but malicious sadist. The mighty first-born. "Known in the Devildom for being Diavolo's close friend and right-hand man". The Devil Himself. Afraid? Of What?!

Kanon: What are you afraid of?

Lucifer: I was afraid of losing my family again...

Mammon: Luci...

Kanon:....

Lucifer: I was scared of losing what remained of our family. I was worried that if one of my brothers were to give into sin. They would be taken away from me...So I had them punished through discipline. But...sometimes I can't control my anger especially if it's provoked and it blinds me making it cloud a terrible lapse in judgement.

Mammon didn't say a word as Kanon made a small gesture for the eldest brother to continue.

Lucifer: Out of all my brothers, your father is the one, whom I considered to be the most troublemaker of the bunch...

Kanon: So you punished him for that...? Because whenever he does something bad like indulge in his greed? Even if he can't control it?

Lucifer:.....Yes.

Kanon: No offense Uncle Luci...but that sounds like an excuse to shift the blame onto someone and vent their hate onto another.

Lucifer flinched as Mammon sighed.

Mammon: Well that's just how Lucifer is, Kanon. The reason he acted that way is because he's a sadist...

Lucifer: I...

Mammon: Come off it Luci. We all know most of those punishments you gave me was not only because of my greed but also the only way to make sure you have better control of yourself. And who was the brother who loves you the most is the one who gives his own pain to help you cope with your situation? Before you started pushing him away with your insults?

Lucifer looked down at the table avoiding both Mammon's and Kanon's judgemental stares.

Mammon: Back then I have bear the brunts of all my brothes' insults... they call me a masochist...but I soaked up their anger, secure in the knowledge. I was the ONLY brother who never loses control of his powers or demon form, or is tempted to use my powers randomly like everyone else... and yet everyone calls me an idiot or a scumbag for letting myself be consumed by the smallest things to take...if that's the case, then maybe you guys should start being called out more too...Because like everyone else...I have limits Luci...Even the Buddha loses patience.

Lucifer:.....

Kanon: Yeah. I agree with that, yes, what Papa does is wrong. But he is a demon like you, Uncle Luci...and what you did was pretty unfair. You hurt him. What you did was pretty unacceptable. Papa can't control his greed like how you can't control your pride...So If Papa is not allowed to sin...

"Then the rest of you shouldn't be allowed to either..."

For an nine year old girl, Lucifer can only admit to himself at how intelligent she is...

For a second there, she almost seem more like Satan's daughter instead of Mammon's. Making Lucifer feel more old than he usually would.

Lucifer: *Sighs*...I am aware of that. Yes. That is why...even if Mammon won't forgive me. That is okay. I'm willing to atone for my sins and my actions against him...

Mammon: Luci...

Lucifer: Mammon...words cannot express how much guilt I felt when you left...You are my cutest favorite little brother...the one I trust the most...the one who stood by my side...

Mammon: Well you sure are terrible at showing it...

Lucifer looked down at his hot pot curry meal that had gone cold...He hated wasting food...

Lucifer:....But like your daughter said. What I've done is horrible and should've not been accepted. And the fact that no one stopped me made it worst...

Mammon: And what about the whole "You should've died instead of Lilith"? Is it really true that my thieving actions really made you feel that way that you wanted me to die?

Lucifer: NO! T-That wasn't it, Mammon! I didn't want you to die...I didn't meant it...I was going through a lot that day...

Kanon: That's still no excuse to tell someone to kill themselves...

Lucifer:....You're right. Again. It is no excuse...It would've been much easier if I stop feigning ignorance and just confess about how I really felt for Mammon...

Mammon was the brother he relied on the most. The day he left was the day Lucifer's strand of sanity flew away like a crow looking for shiny trinkets.

Mammon: Then am I really responsible for her death to make you feel that way? Because let's be honest Lucifer...if I actually died that day and Lilith were to take my place...whose to say that you guys might end up treating her the same way...

Lucifer:......

He...never thought of it that way but yes...sure the situation would've been different. But if Lilith had been the Avatar Of Greed in Mammon's place...then sure enough, she would've been treated the same way but with different outcomes.

Mammon: So Lilith being here instead of me wouldn't make anything better...now would it?

Lucifer: No...It wouldn't...If she was truly here. She would've been disappointed in how much of a horrible person her eldest brother has become.  So to answer your question. You are not responsible for Lilith's death.

Mammon:.....

Lucifer: After you left...all I truly had was my pride. Avatar Of Pride would never surrender his heart so willingly...even if it meant not owning up to my own actions...

Mammon: But isn't that the reason why the others left. Because of their mental meltdowns and you blocking them from indulging in their sins? Because you refuse to admit your mistakes, Lucifer....Your pride is what hurt all of us...the reason why I stayed all those years was to protect the others from receiving the same harm you did to me...even if they were self-centered assholes who only think about themselves. No one deserves to go through your abuse.

Lucifer flinched. Abuse. Yeah. What he had doen to his brothers is what considered abuse.

His family had been torn apart...and it's all his fault...

Mammon is broken and has less self-confidence in himself anymore...

Levi is suffering from mental health issues...

Satan hates him with all his fury...

Asmo is scared of him....

Both the twins held deep resentments for him for letting them eat and sleep.

And Lilith...if she would've seen him now....She would never forgive him...

Sure, all of them have had a part to play in this. These wounds won't heal...He knows his brothers bullied Mammon more than him, but he were the one who set Mammon off. He said something unthinkable, so despicable...

That Mammon will never forgive him as long as he lives...

Tbh, Lucifer can't even forgive himself...

Even though he singled Mammon out. His actions ended up hurting all of his brothers.

His pride hurt his brothers...

Mammon: To you guys, I was just your stupid idiot scumbag brother...But I wanted to be more than that...but in the end...you guys never wanted me to be happy...

Lucifer: ......You're right...which is why again...I'm willing to atone for my actions Mammon. If you give me a chance that is...

Mammon:.....

Kanon: Papa...

Lucifer: Mammon...I never admitted this before. But you are my pride and joy. I know that may be hard to believe now but it's the truth...I take pride in you and the others. Which is why I'm taking pride in apologizing for what I've done...

Mammon:....

Lucifer: You don't have to forgive me if you don't too. I understand. I have wronged and allowed so many people to hurt you...

Mammon:....What about Maddi?

Lucifer's black aura returned and his anger spiked through the roofs at the mention of the witch intimidating the second eldest and his daughter.

Lucifer: She will be dealt with accordingly. What she done is a grave sin among the three realms. I won't allow her to do as she pleases anymore. Once she is caught, she will never see the light of day ever again!

Kanon: *Shudders*

Mammon: ...I see...Luci...can you calm down? You're scaring my daughter...(And me...)

Lucifer:.....My apologies.

Mammon:....Ya know. I really don't deserve all this sappy stuff.

Lucifer: What do you mean by that?

Mammon: I mean sure...you have hurt me. But in your defense, I always have been a screwup. If my money-schemes were thorough, you wouldn't have been up to your neck in my credit card debt and bills...

Lucifer:...You're not a screwup, Mammon...

Mammon: Huh?

Lucifer: All this time...I've been hurting and pushing you away. To the point where I made you feel like you had no one to rely on. I even made it worse by letting the others gang up on you. Idiot. Moron. Scumbag. Worthless. Useless. You were never none of those things.

Mammon:....

Lucifer: When you left, I was going crazy to the point where I realized I've made a grievous error...When you told us how you truly felt useless and unloved...at that moment...I realized I was a terrible older brother to you...

Mammon: Tsk...And you didn't before. Even though half of everyone in Devildom was trying to spell it out for you. I've heard even Lord Dia, Barbs, & Simeon were trying to get you to open your eyes!

Lucifer:....I did not want to believe it. But at some point...I started to understand and it became clear to me that what I did to you and the others was inexcusable.

Mammon:....

Lucifer: Mammon...I know you doubt me for the horrible things I said and done to you. For making you bottle up everything to the point where you couldn't trust me to tell me how you truly felt...you may believe you are useless and can't do anything right. Especially when it comes to us...But that isn't true...

Mammon:...It's not?

Lucifer: No. You are our pillar. You were the one who took care of the twins after they lost Lilith. Tending to their every needs. Food. Sleep. Cuddling...You name it. You helped Levi & Asmo come out of their shells with their mental issues...and most importantly, you raised Satan as his caretaker...

Mammon: Well...yeah...but we all pitched in.

Lucifer: True. But you were the only one that haven't tried to kill him and protected him whenever the others act out of order. Satan may have not shown it for the pass centuries but he was the one who truly loved you and saw you as his father. More than he did with me...

Mammon:....

Lucifer: And let's not forget Kanon...

Kanon: Me?

Lucifer nodded as he look back at Mammon. 

Lucifer: You took care of her and raised her as your own as well. 

That's true. If it wasn't for Mammon. Kanon probably would've still been an orphan or been taken away by demons or another human who holds sinister intentions for children like her.

Kanon felt incredibly lucky to have Mammon as her Papa. Unlike his brothers, she would never take him for granted and Mammon feels the same way. Despite being a demon, he wants to keep an stable father-daughter relationship with her.

Mammon: Yeah....

Lucifer puts his hand on Mammon's white hair before stroking it affectionately...

Lucifer: Mammon...even if you still don't believe it. But you are what this family needs. You were always there for us and I can't believe it took all of us this long to realize that because we only cared about were our own selfish needs...We should've never underestimate the things that you would do for this family...I'm very sorry...

Again. He knows Mammon will never truly forgive him. That's okay. Lucifer will do whatever it takes to make amends to his younger brother. Even if it takes another few centuries.

Mammon:.....I'm sorry too. 

Lucifer:....?!

Mammon: The reason why I'm apologizing because I know I wasn't the best brother to you guys either...I mean I was an asshole as well even if I was putting up a front...

True as well. Even if Mammon was a jerk to his brothers and had thrown some mean insults at them. But it wasn't as bad compared to all the times they had treated him badly...

Mammon:...I've also tried stealing Goldie back even though she didn't really belong to me and plus...I did pushed most of my debts onto you which made your mental state to worsen overtime and caused ya a lot of stress...so...yeah...I'm sorry too...

Lucifer: I know...but that was because you had lack of control of your sin and I made it worse by forcing you to behave and undeterred your authority...I...just didn't want to lose you...but in the end I did...I ended up losing you by my own hand and for letting other people inflict harm upon you...

Mammon: Yeah you did...But still...I could've not gotten us in debt if my money schemes would've worked better.

Lucifer: *Chuckles* Incorrect. You do have a talent at making business profits. Do you remember the Miss Em Plushies?

Kanon: Miss Em?

Mammon: Ah...Yeah. That. It was just harmless attempts at making some money. Didn't expect them to sell out  quickly and become a big hit. I was rolling in the dough~!

Kanon: You made plush toys, Papa?! Why didn't you tell me?!!! I want one!

Mammon: Hahaha. Of course, Little Treasure. ( I'll get her one for her birthday that's coming up.) Wait...where did I put those plush toys again?

Lucifer: You left them at the HOL. They were in a storage box in the closet, remember?

Mammon: Oh...Right....

Kanon: Wait...Why did you stop making them, Papa?

Lucifer: *Smirks* You really want to know why?

Mammon: Lucifer! Don't you dare!

Lucifer ignored him.

Lucifer: Despite your father being rich at the time. He threw it all away and came back because he missed us. The whole reason behind the Miss Em Toys. 

A/N: Are we going to ignore the fact those damn toys came to life and almost turned everyone in the HOL into plushies? Yes? No? Okaaaaaaay...

Mammon: LUCI!

Kanon: *Giggles*  Oh Papa...You're really silly sometimes.

Lucifer: He is...But that what makes him adorable.

Mammon: S-Shaddup! Like you're any different either, Lucifer! Maybe I should tell Kanon about that embarrassing song you made during the campsite incident~!

Lucifer: D-Don't you dare!

Mammon: *Mock* Camp~! Camp~! Camping Trip~! So Much Fun~!

*PUFF*

Lucifer: *Embarrassed* MAMMON!

Mammon: Hahaha! You got so embarrassed! Your wings popped out! Satan is right! You look like an angry peacock!

Lucifer: *Dark* MAMMMMMMMON!

Mammon: Eep!

The two bickered as Kanon laughed at them for the next few minutes.

Lucifer smiled seeing Mammon regain some of his own persona again. Sure, he still had a long way to go before Mammon goes back to being his lively energetic normal self. But no matter how long it takes, Lucifer will repair what remains of their relationship. Sure, he still had to deal with the other brothers who are currently avoiding him. But he will make up for everything he had done to them as well.

He'll make sure of that. He knows Mammon had always looked up to him. But there's one thing Mammon never knew...

Lucifer, himself, also looks up to him even though he'll never admit that to him...and sometimes he always wonder... Why does Mammon believed he's so special...?

Kanon: Uncle Luci...?

Lucifer: Yes...?

Kanon: If you don't mind...I...would like to get know you more...as a person. If that's okay with you?

Lucifer can see the genuine curiosity in her eyes before giving her a small smile. What a better way to get know his adopted niece...

Lucifer: I...would also like to know you as well, Kanon.

Kanon: Can I ask you another question...?

Lucifer: Elaborate?

Kanon:.....Can I touch your wings? They're so pretty~!

Usually, he wouldn't let no one touch wings, especially if they need to be preened...buuuut...

Lucifer: *Blushes* You May....

Kanon: YAY~~~!

It's a sign...Maybe things are finally better...
