Part 9 - A Break-Out
Looking around the room, I saw a sofa facing towards a large tv, sat on an oak cabinet. Next to that was the fireplace and this is what caught my attention.
On the left hand side of the fireplace, sat a photo of one of the men with his wife; I guess the one that had abducted me due to his tall, straight posture. On the right was a heavy vase made from thick glass, empty of flowers or water.
I picked it up and it dawned on me that this was one of the biggest moments of my life so far. If I mucked this up, I'd be dead.
Using both hands for aim, I steadied myself and lent my weight backwards. Thrusting both arms forward, I released the vase from my grip and the whole world seemed to descend into slow - motion. This was it now.
With an almighty smash of glass, I was shook back to reality. I had a matter of seconds to act and without a second thought thrust myself through the bare window frame and out onto the street.
I heard angry shouts behind me and the pounding of feet as the men followed worryingly close behind. In front of me I saw a bus closing it's doors, ready to leave the layby.
I jumped through the half - closed doors and the bus pulled out onto the road. I was safe now, but I still needed to find my way home.
