Part 5 - The Day He Came
Sam turned towards me and smiled reassuringly. He must have known I was upset. I just couldn't bring myself to tell him.
Slowly, he walked over and I glanced at my watch. It was time to leave anyway, else we'd be late. We spoke as we walked away from the frosty bench. It was then I began to feel sick...
I knew he was coming and there was nothing I could do. I grabbed my bag and followed Sam to class, eyeing every window; paranoid.
...
The end of the day came and by that point, I was a mess. Throughout afternoon lessons, I had been worrying. It was at that point, I decided to not go home.
The night grew dark and I watched the last of the caretakers drive out the school gates. Slowly, I creeped out of the loos and into the headmaster's office.
Finding the key on the table by the cupboard, I quickly locked the door, rigid in fear and began to wait it out for morning to come. At least, I thought I'd be safe in here.
...
It must've been growing on two hours waiting. I got up out of the chair and stretched my aching legs. The lights flicked off.
In a desperate panic I felt the wall around me for the switch. I couldn't find it. A voice spoke.
"I've got you now. There is nowhere you can run"
Terrified and stuck to the spot, I recognised the voice. I sank to the ground. There really was nothing I could do.
