Chapter 10: Way with words

Hello Beautiful readers! How are y'all? I am becoming more and more active with this story while I am lagging miserably with the other one (No Where Near Love) But I would do it...For Sarah's sake.

Please stay by me in this journey.

How are y'all liking Elijah? I personally like his character. Be ready for Sarah's badass character.

Writer's POV

"I need you," Sarah abruptly told Elijah. His eyes seemed to widen a bit and his right eyebrow inched upwards. Sarah suddenly realized how exactly that sounded like, and she tightened her jaw. In normal situations she might have blushed, but it wasn't a normal situation.

Her life would maybe never be normal again.

"I meant for driving. I need you to drive the car for me." She corrected her sentence. Elijah nodded in understanding, looking down for a short time before he looked up again.

"Okay." He said getting up and walking past her. It was only when he had walked outside the study, he released the breath he was kind of holding.

"She fucking almost scared me...I literally thought she need-...nevermind." He said shaking his head as if the idea disturbed him. What he himself didn't knew was that his ears had already turned deep crimson at the tips...

"Where do you wanna go? Don't tell you have already made some plan and we are going to Adrik." Elijah said crossing his muscular arms over his taut chest, leaning over his dark car's side. Sarah couldn't answer him, all she was really looking at was the gorgeous car.

It was a customized matte black Audi. Sarah stared at it for the longest before she felt a snap in front of her eyes. She blinked quickly and looked at Elijah who frowned.

"Don't look at my baby like that. You might end up hurting it somehow." He said as he went to sit on the driver's seat. Sarah followed suit. She was not really a person to be into cars; but this car, it was breathtaking. When she was able to get into it, she was greeted with more stuff to stare in awe at. The interior was super black as well.

"By the way you still haven't told me where you have to go." Elijah asked as he started driving.

"To the mall." Sarah said plainly as Elijah halted the car and looked to his side to glare at her.

"No fucking way!" He said.

"I don't have any clothes. When I met you I had left everything behind, including them." She said glaring at him eye to eye. He looked at her hard, then eventually sighed. Starting the car again, he said:

"Fine."

*******

"HEY! Get your ass outta that mall. I've been fucking waiting for hours here outside! What are you even buying? Come outside this instant or I am leaving!" Elijah growled in the phone and hung up. They had arrived here approximately 3 hours ago and Sarah was still no where to be seen outside. Elijah was feeling super furious, he wanted to punch something or someone so hard it breaks. He had argued that he would be staying out while she went in because,

 A) He didn't wanna do girl shopping.

B) He hated shopping.

C) He didn't wanna be seen holding a girl's shopping bags while she walked in front of him.

Waiting a few more generous minutes, he allowed himself to look around. The sun was almost down, reflecting shades of warm yellow and deep blue. A hint of redish-orange was visibly spread out around the few cirrostratus clouds with a few cumulus ones here and there. It was only through a more focused eye when one could see little streaks of purple within it all. He kept on staring at it, until he couldn't anymore. Then he looked down.

"People like me have their hands stained in blood, and beautiful things aren't for people like me to stare at." He whispered to himself, a sad smile coming across his attractive face.

"Maybe, but it is often the same people who, when circumstances arrive, are the ones who can handle beautiful things the best ", A voice from his right had him turning, only to see a sunkissed Sarah standing a few meters away with around 6 shopping bags in her hands. Her skin golden from the magic hour, her gunmetal blue eyes becoming somewhat more lighter.

Her words had struck a cord in him, so unbelievably hard that he couldn't resist but let a  nod of pure agreement leave his body. He was having a real hard time with her. He just couldn't understand this girl. She looked like someone who were habitual of smiling the whole freaking day and being happy. Her whole existence screamed joy and glee

But here she stood, looking like she just witnessed the death of someone close, eyes empty as the nightsky with no stars. Words sharp as truth escaping her mouth every time she decides to speaks. She was like a walking reality. You were forced to accept this version of her; because you knew, you can't change her.

"Thanks to whoever who's listening from above. You have finally decided to come out of that place." Elijah suddenly muttered coming out of whatever daze he was in. He went forward to grab her bags, looking around to see if anyone is watching. She suddenly moved the bags back, making him confused as he looked at her.

"What?" He asked.

"I can carry them." She said.

"Come on, these are half a dozen. They must be heavy, give 'em over." Elijah asked again as he came closer. Sarah moved her bags away.

"They can't be more heavier than my broken soul. And I have been carrying it quite well. I can carry them." She said again with the same blank look.

"Your ability to carry the weight does not mean that you would necessarily have to carry it alone." Elijah said, finally snatching the bags from her hands. He didn't, though, miss the little glint of emotion her eyes showed for the first time in what seemed like ever.

And now it was her time to be surprised. She stood there for a while looking at him in sheer perplexity with her head tilted a bit. This guy is cold, yet his words seem connecting enough.

'Don't trust him.' Sarah told herself.
