Chapter 6: The Tutor

I plopped onto the couch as soon as we got home. I stretched my limbs and let out a yawn.

"So what are we gonna do first, train or homework?" Garroth sighed, sitting beside me.

"Homework," I grabbed my bag and sat on my knees, spreading my books out onto the coffee table.

An hour later, and I had managed to get all of the homework done. I was lucky that we were more advanced at the facility than they were at the highschool. Garroth finished too and we went to our rooms to change. I zipped up my black jumpsuit and tied my hair into a tight ponytail. I walked down the stairs and into the basement. Garroth was down there. looking at the weapons on the wall.

"Alright, how about we do a quick capture the flag and then some combat," I suggested, stretching my arms.

"Alright, but I also need to work on targeting."

"Okay, you set up the flag."

Garroth nodded and took a green cloth and a pole. He walked over to where it was to be set up, and I started on setting up some barrel walls.

We both hid on separate sides, the flag in the middle. I held my back against one of the temporary walls. I looked around the corner, and spotted him on top of one of the large crates. I slid across the floor so I was on the other side, crouching down beside three barrels. I climbed up a crate, and hid behind one that was stacked beside it. I peeked and Garroth was gone. I cursed mentally and jumped over the stacked crate, onto the ground silently. I hid in a dark corner, keeping my guard up.

I crawled to a temporary wall, trying to keep out of sight of the blonde. By now the flag was a mere twenty feet away from me. And I could make a run for it, but then Garroth might decide to jump out, tackling me. I decided to wait it out, let him go for the bait.

The sound of footsteps trying to be quiet was heard, and I looked to see Garroth heading for the flag. I smirked and bolted straight towards him, grabbing his waist and tackling him. I sat on his torso and pinned his hands to the ground above his head.

"I win."

"Not yet."

He lifted his legs and propped his feet under my arms, prying my arms out of balance, gaining use of his hands. He shoved me off of him and managed to just grab the fabric. I jumped out to catch him, but just missed, and fell on the floor. He held the cloth over his head and cheered.

"I win!"

"Yeah, yeah," I rolled my eyes, "put on your protective gear and we'll have our combat practice."

We went upstairs and he went into his own room, and then a knock at the door made me freeze before walking up the stairs. I peaked out the window to see Travis standing in front of the front door. I rose a brow and grabbed an oversized sweater. I opened the door and looked at him curiously.

"Travis?"

"Hey, Katelyn."

"What're you doing here? And how did you find where I live...?"

"Garroth told me."

"He did?"

"Yeah...but he gave me his address. Why are you here?"

"Garroth and I are living together to save on expenses. Why are you here?" I narrowed my eyes.

"Garroth said he wanted help with schoolwork. Can I come in?"

"Uh...sure."

Travis walked in and looked around.

"Nice place."

"Thanks...I'll go get Garroth. You can...go anywhere but upstairs."

He nodded and I walked to Garroth's room. I knocked on the door and called through the wood.

"Travis is here, saying you needed help with schoolwork?"

Garroth opened the door, wearing normal clothes now.

"Yeah."

"Why didn't you tell me?" I hissed, "you know we don't need help."

"It would look pretty suspicious if the new kids were both super geniuses," he whispered.

"But we already did all of our work."

"I made sure to leave out a lot, and get some wrong so when he checks them it isn't weird."

"As long as you know what you're doing..."

Garroth nodded and walked into the kitchen where Travis was.

"I'm gonna go have a shower," I called, walking upstairs.

I stepped onto the cold tile, stretching my back and setting my clothes on the sink counter for when I got out. I removed the sweater and threw it on the floor, and unzipped my suit. I pulled it off my arms and down my legs, stepping out in my simple black underwear. I slipped off my panties and let them drop around my ankles as I unclipped my bra and let my hair down. I turned on the water and stepped in, the drops hot and soothing to my muscles that were beginning to ache. I washed my hair and hummed a tune I remembered from when I was a kid.

When I was really little...

Mom kneeled by my bedside, stroking my hair and singing a soft melody.

"Golden slumbers kiss your eyes,
Smiles await you when you rise.
Sleep,
Pretty baby,
Do not cry,
And I will sing a lullaby.

Cares you know not,
Therefore sleep,
While over you a watch I'll keep.
Sleep,
Pretty darling,
Do not cry,
And I will sing a lullaby."

My eyes grew heavy and eventually I fell asleep to the warm voice of my mother.

I turned off the shower and stepped out, taking the fluffy sky blue towel and drying myself off. I got dressed in my blue basket ball shorts and a black tank top. I dried my hair the best I could with my towel, and walked out of the bathroom, sitting on my bed, pulling out my laptop. I started scrolling through Tumblr until the growling of my stomach caught my attention.

I threw on a sweater and went down the stairs, walking into the harsh light of the kitchen. Garroth and Travis were sitting across each other at the island, their textbooks open, but obviously not studying.

"Hey, Katelyn," they said in unison, Travis' greeting being more flirty.

"Hi," I sighed, looking at the fresh pizza sitting on top of the stove, "pizza?"

"Yeah, we just made it. Grab a slice, sit and talk with us," Travis offered. I decided to take a piece and sit beside Travis. Garroth looked at me with wide eyes and then chuckled.

"Wow, Travis. You got the health freak to eat pizza."

"I have a way with the ladies," he shrugged, nudging me. I rolled my eyes and bit into the delicious junk.

"So what were you two talking about?" I asked, twisting in the barstool.

"You," Garroth giggled. I blushed and almost chocked.

"What about me?"

"Garroth was just telling me about your old home," Travis answered smiling sweetly, shrugging again.

"Oh?" I looked over at Garroth, "what all did he say about it?"

"That you guys went to a boarding school, and it was pretty strict, only seeing parents about once a year. No summer."

"Yeah, a regular everyday prison," I huffed, resting my chin on the palm of my hand.

"Oh well, now you're here," he smiled, looking down at his textbook, "and since you're here, wanna join in on studying?"

"As much as I'd love to, I'd rather do anything else. So I'm fine."

"Yup, still fine," he smirked, eyeing me up and down then winking at me. I rolled my eyes and smacked him upside the head.

"I'm in baggy shorts and an over-sized sweater, so hot," I sarcastically stated while rolling my eyes.

"Babe, you look good in everything, anything, and probably nothing," he winked yet again, this time biting his lower lip.

"Enough flirting, I'm going to bed."

"Goodnight, beautiful."

A/N I need more Travlyn to read, I'm going through a withdrawl. I love you all devils, byeeeeeee.
