Chapter 16: The Next Morning

I woke up and walked down the stairs to see I was the last awake. Aphmau was in her ball of blanket, eating cereal and watching anime. I walked into the kitchen and saw Travis half asleep on the barstool, leaning on the counter as Garroth handed him a plate of waffles. My bare feet padded across the tile to the cupboards and started making tea.

"Morning," Garroth yawned once he noticed me. I smiled a little in response and set the kettle on the stove to boil.

"Katelyn's up?" Travis opened his eyes and grinned at me. I smiled back and finished making my morning tea. I sat on the barstool beside him and threw a cloth at Garroth. He looked at me with a bored expression.

"Waffles?"

I nodded and sipped at my hot beverage.

"You two are like an old married couple."

"It's called practically living together for ten years," Garroth sighed, sliding a plate of my own food towards me. I scarfed it down and sat in the silence as everyone did their morning things.

Two hours after I woke up, I went to have a shower. I went into my bedroom only to see Gene was going through my mission journal.

"First of all, why are you here? Second of all, that is not for your eyes."

Gene looked up and smiled at me.

"You two kissed."

"Yeah," I shifted uncomfortably.

"That's good, I thought of how we can break up."

"Okay?"

"I cheated on you."

"Why would we go so extreme and cliche?"

"Because, guess who gets to comfort you when you go through such a tragic breakup?"

I smirked knowingly.

"Alright, so when are you gonna cheat on me?"

"Let's give this thing two more weeks," he nodded to himself. I sighed and took the journal from him.

"Alright, two more weeks. Now go."

Gene rolled his eyes and left out through the balcony that was off my room. I closed the curtains and locked the bedroom door so that I could shower and change without someone walking in on me.

After my long shower, I walked back into my bedroom and changed into some sweatpants and a T-shirt with different chibi pokemon on it. I walked down the stairs with my hair tied up into a towel and sat next to Aphmau on the couch.

"Hey," I greeted, "who you texting?" I questioned, nodding towards her phone.

"no one," she simply explained, turning off the phone and putting it into her back pocket. "So what happened after I fell asleep?"

"Garroth went to bed shortly after, and Travis and I stayed up till two in the morning."

"What were you two doing?" She smirked, wiggling her eyebrows and a knowing glint shined in her hazel eyes.

"Oh stop that," I laughed, pushing her face, "nothing happened. We played a couple more games and then went to bed."

"Okay, I believe you," Aphmau giggled, leaning against my shoulder. I smiled and pulled my hair out of the towel.

"Besides, I'm still taken,"

"And still beautiful," I jumped as Travis walked into the room.

"Stop flirting," I threw a pillow at him, and he dodged it.

"I'm not flirting, I'm giving you a compliment."

"You two are so annoying," Aphmau sighed jokingly. We both groaned and rolled our eyes playfully. There was a knock at the door, and I got up to go answer it. When I opened the door, Gene was on the other side. I smiled and let him in, glancing at Travis to see him glaring at the floor with his arms crossed.

"What are you doing here?" I asked as he kissed my cheek, the feeling of his lips on my cheek making me feel nauseous.

"Just came to see if you wanted to grab some coffee."

"Sure, let me go put on some clothes that are appropriate."

I skipped up the stairs.

_-_-_Travis' POV_-_-_

Katelyn went up the stairs, leaving us three in the awkward silence. I glared at Gene who was casually leaning on the door and waiting for Katelyn.

"You know, we were hanging out with Katelyn today," I spoke up, balling my fists tighter.

"Well she could have said no," he smirked.

"I don't know how you have her fooled, but you do. Either way, treat her right."

"Why do you care so much?"

"Because I care about her, don't worry about me, just worry about her."

Katelyn ran back down the stairs and grabbed her purse.

"See you guys later," Katelyn laced her fingers with Gene's and they walked off.

"Travis, admit it, you're jealous," Aphmau sighed, giving me a knowing look.

"No, I'm not."

"Travis...." She groaned, rubbing her forehead.

"I just want to kill him when I see them together."

She froze and smirked at me.

"You have a crush on her."

"Maybe a small one...." I rubbed the back of my head, a little embarrassed.

"It seems a little more than just a small one..."

"It doesn't even matter, she's taken. Either way, she doesn't feel the same, and this crush will pass like the others."

Aphmau didn't seem convinced, but dropped the subject when Garroth walked in and sat on one of the chairs.

"Where's Katelyn?"

"With Gene," I sighed. Garroth groaned and leaned his head back.

"I really hate that guy."

"Join the club," Aph sighed, pulling her knees to her chest and resting her chin on them.

We all let out a sigh in unison and gave each other a knowing look. We all knew Katelyn shouldn't be dating him, yet she was.

"You should be dating her," Garroth suddenly smirked at me. I felt my face heat up at the sudden statement he made.

"What?"

"It's obvious you like her, and she likes you. So just wait until her and Gene break up, cause it's inevitable, and move in."

"I can't just do that, it seems cheap. Besides, it's not like we could become a successful couple."

And we continued to argue for the rest of the day about whether or not I should date Katelyn.

A/N I'm writing this while the first episode of the LLP cruise came out, and I am having a Travlyn melt down. Send help. I love you all devils, byeeeeeee.
