Chapter 2 - Trip to Los Angeles

"Next Tuesday will be sooo long to wait for the new episode!" Kiara groaned, reminding us of how long that would be until we could watch what's next of Heaven's Serendipity.

I suspected that she couldn't handle it, and to make it more dreadful, I slowly said, "Su...spense." Making my voice ghostly like.

"Don't remind me..." She shot a glare at me.

Last night's episode still wandered in her mind. It didn't help that Dylan posted a new Instagram post of Next week's teaser that made Kiara and other fans with their hearts roaring with anticipation. She had shown me a still of Dylan as his character counterpart, Noah, with another character.

We were standing by her locker as she needed to put away some books. It was lunchtime period, and I could go for a hamburger and pizza right now. My stomach was calling for them.

Kiara grabbed her phone, most likely stalking through Dylan's Instagram page.

"Can we go now?" I asked impatiently. "I want food."

"Wait, I haven't gotten a chance to comment on his photo," Kiara said, typing away in high-speed.

"You mean you're going to spam until he likes one of your comments. You know yours will be flooded by so many others," I stated the obvious although Kiara ignored me and continued with her attempts of posting comments.

"It's still worth a shot," she replied.

I shut the locker for her, assuming she's done with her books, and proceeded to saunter towards the cafeteria as I made her come along with. I had to clutch her by the arm while she was still busied on her phone.

Chatters ran around the cafeteria with students who were waiting in line or at the table with their friends. Kiara and I stood behind another person as we lined up for lunch. I folded my arms on my chest. It seemed like just another average day, and I was just ordinary. I surveyed the different tables that had different types of people in their groups. There were people like the populars, jocks, comittees, brainiacs. People who made a name for themselves.

And what's my place? Just someone who lived day by day, and nothing had happened to her.

"Oh! This reminds me," Kiara said, shooting her index finger up in the air as if the idea sprouted to her.

That moment, she reminded me of a character who came up with a great scheme and it usually involved... doing something.

"Spit it out," I said since she looked like she needed to.

She closed her eyes and sniffed in air and reopened them again. "I love you, but all you rather do is sit at home and plant your butt on the couch."

Yes, I know. I blinked at her absentmindedly.

She tolerated through all the years of my lazy self all the time. We'd even watch television together when we came over to each other's houses. With the exception of a few times when she suggested we should go out somewhere, I wouldn't move.

Even when we did manage to go out, I was thinking what a terrible idea it was and how I liked to stay home.

"I'm asking literally, when's the last time you've done your other favorite things?" she asked, albeit her tone suggested nicely.

"Well..." I tried to think about the other favorite activities I liked to do besides spending time on the couch, but as it turned out I got nothing.

When I didn't have a response for her, it earned me that look of expression from her that said: "Uh-huh, you got nothing."

I admittedly relented. "Yeah, I don't know."

"I know what we could do this weekend." Kiara stepped closer towards me. "My cousin invited me to go see Los Angeles Dodgers playing this weekend, and he happened to have one extra ticket. He told me to invite someone along in case they're interested. Wanna go?"

Her pure hazel eyes stared at me actively. She had those eyes that could manipulate anyone if she chose to, except her intention was pure and never used for evil.

While right now she was guiltily using them to prompt me to fall into her favor. Her eyes were undoubtedly one of the things that was difficult to say no to. Kiara had a pretty face in whole like a cute deer.

"I do kinda miss baseball..." I said, considering her invitation.

"Great! This weekend, you, me, and baseball. Three hours worth and afterward, we can do all the fun activities." She lit up her excitement and made tiny claps.

She took my answer from missing something to we'll go definitely.

I guessed it might not be bad to go. If I had to go—I admitted—my curiosity of going around seeing the city of Los Angeles would be an amazing opportunity. I wanted to be there yo explore a lot of the things if I could. Was it as fantastic as I hoped they were?

"Okay, I'm in." I nodded.

We moved up the line. "I will let him know." Kiara immediately looked down to her phone, and with her fingers as fast as it could take her, she started text messaging right away.

I examined my workspace in room as I sat at my desk. A black framed desktop computer across me, next to it on the right side was a tin can pencil holder with the design of a world map holding some pencils and pens, a couple of books were stacked on the left side, papers, and a small notepad scattered around it. I held my gaze higher at the corkboard hung on the wall. It resembled my messy personality and the things I liked.

There were sticky notes of the important upcoming assignments due. The printed out photos that I took of friends, places, and random things. A random one I took was a close-up shot of a Penny on the ground. I put up a note that said Penny for your thoughts as a caption to go along with the photo. Most of what overwhelmed the board was my immersion in Los Angeles. Cute postcards of cities, locations, and beaches.

I thought they would be amazing to check out and something wondrous. I didn't forget the Hollywood sign photo up there.

Since Kiara told me that we were going to Los Angeles this weekend, exhilaration filled me. I hadn't been to Los Angeles for a long time. When I was little, I had no memories of it and most of I recalled was passing by on the way to somewhere else.

I hoped that I would get to see a bit of the location that was floating around.

It may be for the weekend, but I really would like to take lots of pictures and keep the memory while I was there.

I ripped out a piece of a blank sheet of notepaper from the corner and grabbed a pen to list some things.

I waited for the Weekdays to pass by, and at last, it's the night of Friday. Kiara and her mom were supposed to pick me up so that we could go together.

I dressed in a nice, oversized dark purple T-shirt and a casual light blue jeans. My socks were on and my black and white converse was set by the door, waiting for my arrival to sneak my toes in and out the door.

I already had my things stowed in my brown leather bag and a few minutes ago, I added a pack of gum so I should be perfectly ready.

Looking at the clock on the wall, it read 7:09 pm. She told me she'd be here by 7, right? So then what was holding her up? I paced around the living room back and forth, enduring much longer time for that front door to ring.

A couple minutes passed, and I was anxiously waiting with nothing here. I couldn't stand here, my life was like non-moving picture screen. So I flopped onto the couch, picking up the remote control right on cue and clicking the switch on button at the television. The screen showed up, adding to my level of fun.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Each channel I consistently browsed didn't peak my interest. Through the many titles on there, I couldn't decide on which to pick. Taking my sweet time for an entertaining half an hour show, and there was nothing there.

Thinking, I checked on my favorite channel if there was anything going on. Okay, this might be what could fill my time. At least it appeared interesting while I had to wait.

About half an hour spent with my eyes glued to the screen. So I wasn't kept up with this series, but just from what was happening, these two characters Fabio and Kyle were enemies, and Tamara was just trying to get them to get along.

"You're not getting shit!"

"Stop, please!"  Tamara pleaded as she got between Fabio and Kyle who were currently putting up a defensive front to one another.

"You might as well stay away from now on," Kyle barked with a tone so aggressive that his demeanor matched it.

"Yeah. Like I care," Fabio snapped.

Tamara, in the middle, watched as both of them walked off in different directions. She appeared conflicted from which way she should follow. When she looked between both ways enough time, she slumped to the ground. Left there to be depressed.

It was taking a turn. I watched as the next scene transitioned to where Fabio had gotten mad for what happened earlier and kicked the wall. Consequently, he gave up and uttered in complete silence and found himself lost in thoughts.

"How can I do something when there's really nothing?"

It was taking a turn. I watched as the next scene transition to where Fabio had gotten mad for what happened earlier and kicked the wall. Consequently, he gave up and uttered in complete silence and found himself lost in thoughts.

The doorbell rang, taking away my attention from the screen. Did she finally show up? She was more than mildly late. Wait, something was happening in this scene.

"Open up, Sienna!!" A voice shouted from the other side of the door.

With a heavy sigh, I got up from the couch and walked my way to the door. When I opened up, I saw Kiara who was dressed fashionably comfortable in her long sleeve pullover beige sweater shirt tucked in her teal blue plaid shorts.

"Are you ready to go?" she asked.

"No," I said, returning back to the couch.

Kiara followed me and then quizzically questioned, "What, you're not going?"

"You took your time so I started watching tv."

"I could've gotten here earlier but then I was looking for something that I thought I lost," Kiara explained.

"Uh huh." I glanced back at her quickly. "Now, I need to finish this episode," I declared, sitting back down on the couch.

"Come on. My mom is waiting outside," she insisted.

"Alright. After I'm done." I had to make it clear. This was on her. She knew I wasn't one to leave in the middle of something.

I heard Kiara huffed. "And when?"

"I don't know."

Her mouth hung open. "Are you kidding? Watch another time."

"I think I'm seriously almost finished," I said as an excuse.

Don't start something if you can't finish it. That's my rule. Unless it involved physical activity like running then yeah, I'd very much skip out on that.

"Seriously..." she muttered but knew there's nothing she could do to stop me. "Alright, fine, but then we have to go." She pointed to the door.

I nodded. Thankful for her cooperation.

The show ended soon enough, and I slung my bag over my shoulder and slipped on my shoes. Then we walked out to the car parked on the driveway and through the tinted mirror, I could make out the figure of Kiara's mom. After we climbing in our seats, it wasn't long until her mom started the engine.

For a while, Kiara was on her phone and I was daydreaming about the possibilies I might get to see or do. It looked like a nice getaway, like a short road trip for the weekend. I was going to Los Angeles. How long had it been? It's going to be a change in the environment once we'd get there.

"Oh, I'm so excited. It's nicer to see outside of Riverside, huh?" Kiara pepped up.

"Yeah," I said as I was staring out the window and watching the streets with many of the cars passing.

"Ooh, why don't we play a game?" she suggested.

"Sure," I answered, turning my head to her.

"How about the letter game?"

"Alright, you go first."

"Okay. Apples!" Kiara initiated.

"Bumblebees," I continued next.

"Cereal."

"Daisy."

"Elephants."

"Frappe."

"Goat."

"Hippos."

"Injection."

"Jesters."

"Killing."

"Laryngitis."

"Maryland."

Noah, I was about to say as he appeared in my thoughts first. "Nebraska," I said instead.

We finished the rest of the letter game after I ended the last letter with a zing, which I also used as the ending of the word.

"You know what would be cool?" Kiara asked.

"What?" I said.

"We'll be just as the same place as Dylan," she said joyfully.

Now that she brought up his name, I could only think of not Dylan but Noah. I deeply admired that side of him when he acted out. He made him so deep and inimate that he felt so human and raw. I wasn't one to think about boys because I didn't really like anyone but darn. A fictional character crawled its way to my heart.

She gave me a look. "Don't tell me you never thought about what it would be like to meet him?"

That's unimaginable. I wouldn't have a real reason to meet him although I couldn't rid of how he could look so good onscreen. This was utterly embarrassing.

But I knew it would never happen. "I don't think so."

"Sienna, have a little imagination. Whether or not he's there, just think fun of it," Kiara said amiably, but sometimes it didn't help me.

It's not like you would meet Zayn Malik at a coffee shop then asking to take pictures with him before he went, "Great meeting you" and left with his usual daily life. Why would I meet Dylan Hawkes out when I had no idea where he went?

"Uplift yourself. You may never know. But I don't know what I would do." Kiara cupped a cheek with her hand, smiling mysteriously to herself.

"Very unrealistic, but okay," I said to just go along with it.

"Come on. Wouldn't it just be amazing if it were to happen like a dream come true? Don't make me feel alone here."

She wanted me to join in on the fangirling with her. Kiara couldn't hide her excitement about Dylan since she practically worshipped him like a god.

"Yes, he's such a dreamboat. If we could meet him, our hearts will just melt into pieces." I talked as though I was one of the many fangirls, letting out a convincing sigh of 'aww' with my hands placed over my chest.

"I bet."

"Is that better?" I asked.

"Well, that's the spirit. It's just a little fun thing to think about. All that matters now is we're just going to have fun like we planned." She pumped up her fist energetically.

Right. I was getting out of the house because of her idea. "Totally!" I livened up my spirits for her.

"Yeah! Don't worry. This weekend is totally all planned out and good for us."

"You girls seem to have fun back there," Kiara's mom spoke up while she was still driving the car.

"Yeah mom, just girl stuff," Kiara told her and leaned against the car cushion.

"I remember when me and my friend always like to talk about a bunch of things while on a road trip. Seems like yesterday before I knew having kids like this." She chuckled lightly.

"Oh mom."

I turned back once again to the window and stared out at the night with the traffic going on, cars driving by, and the lights on every street.

The dark blue cerulean sky that was once there from when we left now appeared a dark brown sky. It took my breath away, not just the scenery but what could be waiting for me once I reached. The individual buildings were hard to discern, but the yellow lights from far away was astonishing. This was a brochure jumped out to reality laid out before me.

From the distance of Riverside to Los Angeles, you'd think I could go there any time but I wouldn't know the first thing about what to do there nor have the energy to tour around. Plus, I was kind of anxious by the large atmosphere they had.

No matter, I could think of this as a nice weekend away from home.

That's it. I couldn't wait to just check out the city and have some fun around.

HELLO NO UNIVERSITY CLASSES SINCE I'M DONE WITH IT FOR NOW. AND I GET THE WHOLE SUMMER TO MYSELF. NO SUMMER CLASSES FOR THE FIRST TIME, HECK YEAH. So I think I would be writing more than I thought I would. Although, I'm still tad slow since I like to enjoy various things. I know I have no audience and no one cares but I write for fun and for my enjoyment. But if you're nice, please leave a vote and comment. I'm trying really hard to revive an old story back but with more improvements. I still think I did better than my old writing, but I'm still not a perfectionist. Anyway, how are you guys holding up?

How do you think this weekend will go with Sienna?
