Chapter Two
I walked with Chiron heading back toward my old cabin. "I'm glad you're back Mark, have you considered staying and training new demigods?"
I hesitated. I remembered when Chiron first asked me that question, I couldn't take it then and I wasn't sure if I would now. "I haven't thought about it yet Chiron, I'll consider my options first, I've already built a great career on YouTube and am engaged to a wonderful woman. But I'll get back to you."
Chiron nodded before dismissing himself and heading back toward the big house. I sighed. As I was making my way toward my cabin I noticed my sister, Clarisse, was barking orders to our siblings. I never liked her in that she always thought she was better than everyone. I got closer to the cabin when I noticed that they were surrounding someone. I rolled my eyes, even though our father blessed her during the titan war; it didn't mean she had to be a jerk and act like everyone else. I wasn't surprised when she started picking on a newbie again. Sighing, I walked over to the commotion, I paused once I saw the new camper with brown hair and gray eyes.
"Don't touch me!" The newbie exclaimed, pulling out a celestial bronze dagger.
"What are you going to do about it, Newbie?!" Clarisse exclaimed, pulling out her own sword also made of celestial bronze. I reached for my own weapon, kopis, and ran at Clarisse with lightning quick reflexes. She hadn't expected me to appear, but I automatically blocked her weapon, sending her into our siblings. Filled with rage, Clarisse swung her Greek Xiphos this time I backpedaled and disarmed her without a second hesitation.
"Enough!" I exclaimed. Clarisse ground and got to her feet.
"Mark," Clarisse growled. "I thought you were in California!" Despite Clarisse's complaints I still despised her. I wanted to lead a normal life however; I knew that my life would ultimately change as soon as I found out that I was a son of Ares. "First you disappear, then you act like we don't exist. Now you're defending a newbie." I glared and did my best to control my anger.
"I wanted a normal life. Now go back to cabin five and tell them I've returned." Clarisse glared at me one last time before she stormed away followed by the rest of our siblings. I slid Kopis back into my sheath and turned toward the newbie. "Are you okay?" the young man nodded. "What's your name?"
"Colby Brock." he responded, holding out his hand. We shook and I smiled at him. "Welcome to camp. My name is Mark Fischbach, head of Ares cabin, nice to meet you."

Not long after Sam had gone to speak with Rachel had Chiron called a meeting with every cabin in the camp. Everyone gathered around the dining pavilion as they awaited the news from Chiron and Sam. I never pictured myself sitting in the dining pavilion again, it was strange to say the least. A lot of the people around me were either new or often considered to be returning campers. At the Poseidon table I saw Percy and his brother Tyson, unlike most demigods, Percy had been through a lot since he was twelve. Always fighting with the titans or the giants. I was glad I hadn't been around when that happened. I hadn't even been claimed yet. At the Athena cabin, I saw multiple children of Athena they all had the same look, blonde or brown hair and gray eyes. Unlike my cabin where we were buff and relied on our weapons, the Athena cabin focused on strategy and used their knowledge of battle tactics to help win a war. They took the lead next to Percy and defeated the titan's. The dining pavilion was chaotic; everyone was talking and not a single person could get a word in.
Chiron stamped his hoof on the wooden floor. "SILENCE"
The whole dining pavilion went quiet.
"Thank you all for coming, Rachel has something to tell you." Chiron responded.
"Under recent circumstances, I received another prophecy." Rachel sat down on a wooden chair. Eyes closed, they opened into a misty green.
Three shall head west to the gloved land.
A child of Ares, Hades and Athena must find what was stolen and see it returned.
Coming face to face with the evil and the betrayer.
Work as one, defeat this evil.
The green smoke died down, and Rachel resumed her human state. The entire room went silent. Others looked at their friends, worry crossed their faces. I snuck a glance toward the Hades table where Sam turned ghostly pale. I knew that look, it'd been time for him to select his people that would join him on his quest. I didn't think much about it as I could care less about the quest, but I kept quiet nevertheless. Although thinking back to the prophecy I knew the people he needed. A Child of Ares. No doubt he'd pick Clarisse. Not that I cared. A Child of Hades. Yeah, that was a no brainer. A Child of Athena. Annabeth probably.
"Thank you, Rachel. We can start with the questers." Chiron turned toward Sam.
"The Golden Fleece has been stolen!" two apollo kids raced toward the dining pavilion. Suddenly, the crowds got louder. I turned surprised. When we arrived, the fleece was there. Someone recently stole it. The first line of the prophecy popped into my head you must find what was stolen. The crowd grew louder before Chiron ordered the entire camp to be quiet.
"These are dire times; the golden fleece must be found. Sam Golbach, son of Hades, has already volunteered to be the quest leader," Chiron said. "Sam, would you come here?"
I looked over at Sam who walked over to the centaur. From my cabin, I saw the anger protruding from my siblings. "Pick two heroes, A child of Ares and A child of Athena."
I considered a few things. One of the first things I needed to do was join him. I stood from the table "I'll go," I volunteered. "You came to me first and told me the situation. I would be honored to go on this quest with you." Sam smiled as I walked over to him confidently. Now all he needed was a child of Athena. I glanced over. Annabeth began to stand and raise her hand but before she could the entire camp gasped. Confused. Everyone pointed toward the new kid. An owl floated above his head. The newbie looked up and saw the symbol; his eyes suddenly turned a deep shade of gray.
"I guess that means I'm going," the boy said. "My name is Colby Brock, and Sam, I'll go with you on this mission." Chiron smiled and Sam stayed quiet.
"Then it's settled. Everyone please return to what you're doing until dinner," Chiron said. "It'll give our questers time to get ready. Good luck everyone!" The crowd cleared out and made their way back to their cabins. I couldn't believe that Sam had to lead a quest. Now there's no turning back.
