Date: September 15, 1944

Location: Near the airfield on Peleliu

Team Hunters and a squad of marines were making their way through the swamp to cover the flank of the 5th making their way to the airfield. Surprisingly one of the marines they were running alongside was private Miller of the 1st marine division. So Ruby was happy to fight alongside him as they did get to know each other a little bit after spending a little time with them in the fox hole at night. But he wasn't happy at the moment due to what happened when they hit the beaches on the island. 

"So you really lost your commanding officer?" Ruby asked. 

"Yeah, and it wasn't great to watch either." Miller said. "If only I had stopped that jap sooner."

"Well, you couldn't have known that there was a enemy on the other side of the door." Ruby said. "Don't go beating yourself up about it." 

"Still, I can't help but think that I could have saved himself." Miller said. "But plans are being made to ship his body back to the states."

"Well, that's good." Blake said. "At least he will get a proper burial." 

"That's one way of looking at it." Miller said. "Also is our target the airfield?"

"Yeah, the enemy has been shooting down our planes non-stop." Ruby said. "So, we have to go in and take them out."

"And when we make it through this swamp we will regroup with the 5th." Weiss said. "Although we might get wet a little bit."

"No complaining about mud in your boots Weiss." Yang joked. "The enemy might hear your groans."

"I happen to be wearing might boots correct so no dirty stuff gets on my feet." Weiss said.

"Alright that's enough you two, I see one of our birds up ahead." Summer said as the group approached a down F4-U Corsair with a squad of marines around the wreck still smoking. 

"Poor guy." Blake said. "Must got hit by AA fire."

"Well, there is still smoke on the wreckage we can check for survivors." Ruby said as one the marines was checking the pilot to see if he was still alive somehow.

"He's all snarled up on something." The marine said as a click was then heard not too long after he said that. "SHIT! Grenade!" 

The Marine jumped off the plane in time as it exploded and Japanese soldiers then came out of their camouflage hiding spots and started firing at the marines killing two of them instantly. Team Hunters were quick to react as they let loose with their respected weapons of choice. 

Ruby first shot a soldier that was hiding up near the wreckage trying to take out some of the other marines. She then shot another one trying to get cover behind a tree and that didn't work out for him too well. Weiss meanwhile killed another two soldiers that were charging at the group preventing them from getting close. Blake used her M1 Garand to also kill a couple of soldiers in the bushes. Yang used her shotgun loaded with some of her flame rounds that she used in her gauntlets to set her enemies on fire and it was very effective especially when the enemy was covering themselves in vegetation.  Summer provided covering fire with her M1 carbine shooting at any enemy that got close.

Then after a while the gunfire died down but before the group could move forward more enemy soldiers came out of the jungle charging at the marines.

"BANZI!!!!" The leader yelled. But before they could get close to the group Yang cut them down with her M1919A4.

"Don't they know that's a useless tactic?"  Yang asked. "Charging at us like that." 

"Well, when your country is getting desperate you do desperate things." Miller said. 

"Let's go before more show up."  Ruby said and the others nodded. Soon the group was making their way through the swamp.

"I can't believe they would booby trap our dead." One of the other marines said. But not too far from the crash Blake then stopped the whole group as she heard something the others didn't. Around the corner there was a lot of vegetation on the swamp floor but being a Faunus had its advantages. "Did you hear something corporal?"

"Yeah, I did, from the bushes ahead." Blake replied as she then pulled the pins on a couple grenades. "Watch the bushes."

She then threw the grenades to in the thick bushes and not too long after the sound of Japanese soldiers shouting soon became heard. But before the enemy could move the grenades blew up killing a few hidings in the bushes and causing the rest to come out of hiding and try to engage the marines. But they were quickly cut down by Yang and the others as they got the jump on the enemy. Then as they pushed forward more the sounds of explosions in the distance caught the groups attention.

"I think were kinda late, sounds like the 5th is kicking ass!" One of the marines said.

"This is it marines! Let's get them!" Yang shouted as they rushed forward to the sounds of the battlefield.  But as the group got closer to the explosions the sound of Japanese machine guns were also heard not too long after.

"There's MG's in the bunkers just up ahead!" Ruby said. "Nambu artillery is right in front of them!" 

Soon the group joined up with another hand-full of marines that were being pinned down by enemy soldiers. 

"Private, get a grenade up there!" Ruby ordered and not too long after Miller pulled the pin on a grenade and it landed in the enemy position wiping them out. "Move up!"

After gaining a foot hold near the bunkers the huntress's and marines then took cover as the enemy soldiers fired back at them as they wanted to hold off the marines to stop them from advancing. Ruby took cover from behind some boxes and started sniping the enemy one by one. Weiss used her M1 Carbine to prove support to her fellow marines as she didn't want many of them to be killed. Blake used her M1 Garand to take out a few soldiers that were using trees as cover. Yang was suppressing the enemy with the firepower of her M1919A4 to ensure that the enemy wouldn't dare poke their heads up. Summer was also with Ruby providing support to the marines as they gunned down the enemy.

Not too long after all the enemy soldiers were killed and the group pressed forward to the bunkers which were shooting at the marines from the 5th. Soon Yang and Blake were assigned to clear the bunkers while the others would take out any enemies from outside the bunkers. As the duo went into the bunker a couple of enemy soldiers noticed them and started shooting at them with their SMGs. The black and yellow duo dodged their bullets and engaged the bunker soldiers in hand-to-hand combat. 

Yang knocked the SMG out of one soldier's hands and threw a punch at his face followed up by a kick to his stomach knocking him back into another solider. Blake then jumped over Yang and stabbed a machine gunner in the back and then threw her knife into the neck of another soldier as he came around the corner. The two made quick work of the soldiers in the bunkers before rejoining the marines that were being pinned down by a machine gun nest. Then one of the marines with a flamethrower tried to set the position on fire but was gunned down quickly.

"Miller, get that flamethrower and finish the job!" Ruby ordered. Miller nodded and crawled his way to the flamethrower avoiding the machine gun fire. Finally, after reaching the dead marine Miller took hold of the deadly weapon and then set the bunker on fire from the inside and out. Not too long after the bunker blew up creating a giant hole in the side of it. "Push up!" 

Soon after the fire died down a bit the group made their way through the burnt bunker passing by burnt Japanese soldiers dying from their burns. But as they made their way to a clearing the noise of a plane engine suddenly grew louder and louder and one of the marines saw that a B-17 bomber had been hit and was going down.

"Shit! They just took out another one!" A marine said as the group saw the giant plane go down and hear it crash.  But as the group approached small tall grass and palm trees they suddenly came under fire again. "Ambush!"

"They're in the grass and trees!" Ruby shouted. "Light them up!" 

Soon Japanese soldiers came out of there hiding spots and started shooting at the marines. In the middle of the fire fight Miller saw one enemy solider in the palm tree aiming his rifle at Summer and before the enemy could fire Miller shot first killing the enemy in one shot. Summer noticed this and the brave marine nodded to her and she did likewise before going back to the fire fight. Yang let loose with her M1919A4 cutting down any enemy soldier that she could see whether they were in the tall grass or up in a palm tree. They after clearing up the area the group continued to push forward not wanting to lose momentum. 

"They were just waiting for us!" One of the marines said.

"Expect ambushes anywhere!" Ruby stated as the group then came across another larger group of marines that were being pinned down from enemy gun fire from a broken-down building. Soon the group joined up with the pinned down marines that were that were down behind a berm. "What's the skinny?"

"The 7th came in from the north!" A marine replied. "They are trying to get their tanks on the airfield but it's a nightmare over there!"

"MG fire from the second floor is pinning us down, you have any ideas Captain?" another marine asked. Ruby then looked and saw a supply truck not far from their position.

"Yeah, I do." Ruby answered. "Blake, Miller follow me!"

The trio then made their way to the supply truck dodging enemy fire as they went along. When they made it to the truck they saw rifle grenades in a box ready to be used whenever. 

"Miller, Blake use those rifle grenades and take out those MGs!" Ruby ordered. Miller and Blake then fixed the grenades to their rifles and took aim at the machine gun positions. Then simultaneously the two fired their grenades on their rifles and took out the MGs with no error. After that it was just of matter of finishing of the remainder troops that were still in the building trying to hold them back.  Ruby then threw a grenade into the building killing a group of enemy soldiers behind some sandbags. "Come on! Move up to the building, we can't let them regroup!"

Soon the marines and team hunters started clearing out the building of what was left of the enemies defense. 

"How much further to the airfield captain?" Miller asked.

"Just one final push and it will be ours!" Ruby replied. The group then made their way up a set of stairs to the second floor and then got a front row seat of the battle going on at the airfield. A couple of Sherman tanks were pushing up to the airfield when one of them got blown up from an enemy tanks cannon as the other Sherman took cover behind some debris. "Move! We have to take out those enemy tanks!"

The group then made their way through the bullets and cannon fire and into some trenches for cover. Miller then looked up from their position and saw three enemy tanks blocking their way forward to the AA guns. However, the young marine then saw a bazooka on the ground with a bag of rockets next to it. Acting on instinct he grabbed the rocket launcher, loaded it, and then fired at an enemy tank causing it to blow up.  

"Nice shot Miller!" Yang said.

"Thanks! But we still have two more to deal with!" Miller pointed out. "I got to reload!" 

"I'll help with that!" Yang said as Miller then looked over the trench to see where the next tank was and quickly spotted it. While doing that Yang loaded another 40mm rocket into the launcher. "Your ready!" 

"Copy!" Miller replied as he then fired the rocket at another enemy tank blowing it to pieces. "One to go!" 

But as Yang loaded up the rocket to kill the final tank the enemy tanks cannon fired at the two knocking them off their feet. Lucky the round didn't hit either of them as it was right In front of them. But as the two got back on their feet Miller noticed Yang's hair on fire and her eyes were now a crimson blood red. 

"Yang?" Miller asked. Yang then dropped her machine gun and shotgun and readied her shotgun bracelets. He then saw the young blonde huntress then take off in the direction of the last tank with the clear intention of getting rid of it. She then got right to the side of the tank ripped its tread of the track causing it to be immobile. Then she jumped up to the top of the turret and ripped off the top hatch and threw a couple of grenades inside as she then jumped back watching the tank explode. She then landed back in the trench where she saw Miller looking at her like he had seen a ghost. "Since when could you do something like that?" 

"Since a while ago." Yang replied grabbing her weapons. "Anyways let's move forward and take the airfield!"

"Tanks are down! Move up!" Ruby said she and the others moved up. The group then ran forward and then took cover again to stay out of the line of fire from the enemy soldiers.  Exchanging fire with the enemy the marines were soon able to clear a path to the AA guns that were still trying to shoot down the planes in the sky. "Take out the gunners on the AA guns!"

Within moments the marines then starting picking off the enemy one at a time to clear the guns in order to get them to stop firing at the planes. But the Japanese soldiers weren't going to give up so easily as they did everything, they could to stop the marine's advance. However, with team hunters on the marine's side the tide turned in favor of the marines as the young huntress's leaped into action. To stay agile the girls dropped their military weapons and used their huntress weapons and engaged the enemy in CQC. 

Ruby charged at three men and swung her scythe at their feet knocking them all down as another tried to shoot at her with his type 100 smg but the young red-haired huntress used her semblance and dodged the bullets. She then procced and cut the SMG in half and then shooting the enemy in the chest with her scythe. Just then another soldier in her blind spot took aim at her.

But before he could pull the trigger a black cord wrapped around the barrel and pulled it away from Ruby causing the solider to drop the weapon to the ground. Before he could look for the cause he was then kicked in the face and knocked back into a couple other enemy soldiers as Blake landed where the one soldier was. However, she didn't stop there as she shot another enemy soldier on her right without even looking. She then jumped at the two soldiers that she threw the one at and kicked the rifle out of one of their hands and slashed the chest of the other and then punched the first one in the face knocking him out.  

As that was going down Weiss and Yang teamed up against the soldiers guarding the remainder two AA guns. Weiss dodge the rifle bullet from one soldier as she slashed at his chest killing him and freezing three more soldiers in place. As they were stuck Yang came down from the air and punched the ground sending the three soldiers flying in different directions. The blonde huntress then punched another soldier in the face followed by a swift kick to his chest sending him into some boxes. 

It was then Summer aided her youngest daughter in fighting off a few more enemy soldiers that were surrounding her. She then used her sword slashing at one soldier's neck and then stabbed another in the chest. She then transformed her sword into a M1 Garand to shoot a couple of enemies before switching it back into a sword. Then she dashed over Ruby and delivered a swift kick to an enemy's face sending him off the building. After a couple of minutes, the whole enemy force on the airfield was dead, the huntress's and marines were victorious. 

"We did it! The airfield is ours!" one marine said as they gathered around the AA bunker.

"Nice work marines!" Ruby said. "Radio Major Gordon and tell him the good news." 

But as the radio-man was giving the Major the good news one of the other marines noticed something coming at them from the north. 

"Aw shit-- Captain we've got a problem!" The marine said as he pointed to a large ground of enemies approaching the airfield. It was then Ruby went to the radio to call in air support. 

"Sir Japanese reinforcements from the north of the airfield, requesting air support over!" Ruby said and the operator on the other side said 'hold your position for a few minutes. "Okay the planes are coming, stay strong and sharp, we are holding this airfield!"

The group of Marines then took up positions on the AA bunkers to prepare for the upcoming battle and the last push for the enemy. Then when the enemy came into range the marines and huntress's let loose with all they had. Unlike the enemy soldiers defending the airfield the reinforcements would not give up and soon more infantry arrived on a couple of trucks. Then they all just started coming at the marines all at once and it became a little overwhelming for them. 

"Where, the hell did these reinforcements come from?!?!" Miller shouted. Just then one enemy tried climbing of the ladder but was shot down by Yang's M1897. 

"Just keep shooting them miller!" Yang shouted as she then set up her M1919A4 on the wall and just let loose. But as the marines were holding their ground they then noticed three enemy tanks coming right at them. "We got tanks inbound!"

"Miller get on one of those AA guns and take them out!" Ruby ordered. "We'll cover you!" 

"Yes Captain!" Miller replied as he ran up to one of the guns and then aimed it at one of the incoming tanks. He then pressed the trigger with his foot sending a barrage of 25mm shells at one of the tanks causing it to explode. He then turned his attention over to another one of the tanks quickly putting the AA gun sights on it and then pressed the trigger sending another barrage of AA shells at the tank making it blow up. 

However as he looked to where the final tank was he then saw its cannon pointing at him and Miller decided to leave his position. He got off the AA gun just in time as it was blown to pieces by the enemy tank. With quick thinking he saw the other AA gun and ran over to it in order to destroy the last Tank. As he was doing that the tank started to fire at the marines who were defending the airfield. 

"Miller take out the last tank or we are done for!!" Ruby shouted. 

"Working on it!" Miller called back. Getting on the other AA gun he then put his sights on the last tank who was also trying to aim at the marine. With being just seconds from death the brave marine pushed his trigger first firing cannon shells at the enemy tank making it explode in a matter of seconds. "Targets destroyed!" 

However, the victory was short lived as the enemy were still coming at them with no intention of stopping anytime soon. 

"Ruby, how much longer until the air support arrives?!" Weiss asked firing her carbine at the enemy as Ruby checked her watch.

"Right...about..." Ruby started. "NOW!"

As she said that a pair of F4U Corsairs dropped a couple of Napalm bombs right on top of the enemy's head burning them alive.

The sound of the enemy's screams was loud enough for the marine defenders to hear from where they were in cover. A few of them even saw a few enemy soldiers rolling on the ground to try and put themselves out to no success. As the fire died away the enemies that weren't burned alive retreated to the mountains not wanting to lose more numbers than they already did. As the enemy retreated the marines on the airfield cheered as they watched their foes run. 

"We did it!" Miller cried out. "We took the airfield!" 

"Great job Marines!" Ruby yelled. "Outstanding work all of you!" 

"Especially you Ruby." Summer said. "You, leadership was very helpful." 

"Oh, it was nothing mom." Ruby said. "Just doing my job."

"Well, you did lead us to victory little sis!" Yang said as she put her left arm around Ruby. "Besides, you always take 'lead' as our leader!"

Ruby groaned at her older sister's pun but a few of the marines found the joke a little funny and could help but laugh a little. Weiss and Blake then saw a couple of the corsair's fly right over them before flying away. 

"Well, we took the airfield." Blake stated. 

"Now we just need to take the rest of the island." Weiss added. "And something tells me the enemy isn't going to give up easily." 

"They never do Weiss." Blake said. 

"I wonder how the others are doing, back on remnant." Weiss said. As it turned out something was being planned to bring the two teams back to remnant.

Meanwhile back on Remnant....

Hovering above Beacon academy was an Atlas air fleet as they were there for security reasons as stated by General Ironwood. Said general was in his office room on his flag-ship going over some of the papers on his desk. Just then a beeping sound was heard coming from his scroll as he then pushed the button to answer it.

"Sir, the Ace-ops are here." A female voice said. 

"Send them in." Ironwood requested as he hung up. Just after a minute or two of waiting the people in question walked into his office. These people were Atlas's top huntsmen and huntress's and they were known as the Ace-ops for being the best of the best.

"You called for us general?" Clover asked.

"Yes, I did Clover." Ironwood answered. "It's regarding the two missing teams of huntsman and huntresses in training."
