Chapter 1 : Freedom

Heaven has remained the home of gods throughout the centuries, despite numerous attacks by rebellious forces. It stands firm due to the gods' faith. Each god in heaven ruled over their realm. There were seven realms in heaven, one of which belonged to The Moon Goddess Serena and his two wolves, Area and Arles.

Whereas Ares was responsible for the werewolf species, Arlas was in charge of the Lycans. The council, which included werewolves and Lycans, reports to the moon goddess who ruled one of most powerful realm in heaven.

A magnificent white marble castle floating in the air, with long, spike-like pillars that gave it a beautiful structure. A golden tint wrapped around the white marble pillars, enhancing their beauty under the moonlight, and everything about it felt magical.

The majestic and elegant castle belonged to The Moon Goddess Serena.

She was sitting on her bed, looking out the window, lost in her thoughts as a strange sense of worry overtook her. She awoke from her thoughts when a maid knocked on her bedroom door.

"Come in," she commanded softly but authoritative voice.

"Goddess, the former king of werewolves is here to see you," the maid entered the room and gave the massage. She nodded respectfully and acknowledged in a quiet voice. The goddess's face showed lines of worry.

Ares? What was he doing at her castle? Is there anything wrong with his kingdom? Such thoughts were running through her mind.

"Fine, go entertain the guest. I will be there in a few minutes," Serena informed the maid, who promptly left her bedroom. She got out of bed and went to the bathroom to freshen up.

Serena entered her courtroom a few moments later and saw Ares sitting on his throne, which was three steps below the goddess's throne on the right side.

Serena's throne was located in the centre of the court. The left side of the throne belonged to the king of the lycan 'Arles'. When Ares noticed the goddess entering the court, he knelt and bowed his head to properly greet her.

"Greetings, Moon Goddess," his voice was frigid and powerful, making her heart swell with pride. Serena responded with a simple bow. She gracefully ascended the stairs and sat on her throne. She motioned for Ares to stand up, which he did as he took his place.

"Is everything fine, Ares? What are you doing here with no prior notice? Do you forget protocol?" she authoritatively inquired of him. Ares shivered slightly from her demeanour. No matter how strong he was, at the end of the day, she was their diety. He could not risk annoying her. She possessed the ability to destroy his entire species.

"Pardon me, goddess, but I am here to inform you about my son's mating ceremony. It is high time to free 'His' soul. Unlike my mate, my daughter-in-law had lycan blood. She is fully capable of carrying and birthing such a powerful soul. We owe 'Him' so much; it is time to repay him and keep our promise," he spoke quietly and explained why he had arrived so unexpectedly.

"Hmm...you are right, Ares. Your daughter-in-law is fully capable of handling this. When will the mating ceremony be held?" she agreed with him and hummed softly. They were lost in their conversation when a servant entered the courtroom.

"Goddess, the king of Lycan is present here, he wants to meet you. He claims to have an urgent piece of information," the servant delivered the message and waited for a response.

What was happening? Why was everyone looking for me tonight? She pondered in her head.

"Okay, send him in," she instructed the servant, and he left. A few moments later, a tall man dressed in a black cloak and high-ankle shoes entered the courtroom. He greeted the Goddess in the same way as Ares and took his seat on the left side of the throne.

"We finally found 'Her' descendant; when they destroyed their kingdom, they spared no lives, but 'Her' little brother fled to their maternal home. He led a simple life after that," Arles, the King of Lycans, explained the situation and Serena's eyes shone with hope. There was finally a way to harness that ultimate power.

"Keep an eye on 'Her' descendants; we cannot risk losing them again. It is not easy to find a match for Him, and we will only look among Her descendants. It can still take several years or centuries to match a perfect bond, and only fate can determine that. His mate is our only means of control," Serena commanded the king of Lycan with authority, and determination flowed from her eyes.

"As you say, Goddess," he nodded his head, confirming her words. He then questioned Ares about his son's mating ceremony.

"Three days later, on a full moon night, the mating ceremony took place in the southern wing of the castle, which belongs to my son," Ares informed him and the Goddess simultaneously.

"All right, now go ahead and finish the ceremony's preparations and advise your son and his partner not to stop during the mating process, regardless of what occurs during the ceremony," she suggested in a stern and cold voice. Everything was going smoothly but Arles had some doubts in his mind.

"I know it is impossible for a werewolf. But what if he rejects her?" he inquired about an uncertainty with the goddess. Serena's face turned white as paper.

"Do not think ridiculous thoughts, Arles; they are called soulmates for a reason. It's impossible. No wolf in heaven or on earth has ever rejected their mate. It is an insult to their deity, and a wolf would never do that,"

She responded harshly, her tone laced with irritability. After this, she rose from her throne and prepared to leave. Ares and Arles took the hint and stood on their feet. Both of them bowed their heads, bid the goddess farewell, and returned to their respective kingdoms.

Goddess also returned to her bedroom. She entered the room and shut the door behind her. Arles' words echoed in her ears.

What if he rejects her?

That was her greatest fear. Only she knew that if he rejected Her, she and the entire werewolf race would be doomed. She was very concerned about upcoming events. She waved her hand in the air, which opened a portal that transported her to a dense forest.

She entered an ancient cave and felt the familiar power emanating from a pea-sized emerald stone. It was floating over a pond in the centre of the cave. It was illuminated with green light.

She joined her hands and began chanting a spell, and the stone began to move toward her. She took the stone in her fist and turned to absorb its power.

It was difficult for her to achieve. She trembled and her legs grew weaker, but she continued to chant. The stone eventually lost its glow and became a simple crystal stone. Cold sweat glistened on her brow, and she was exhausted.

When she had finished sucking up all of the stone energy, she tied the emerald stone around her neck with a chain. She returned to her bedroom.

She fell on her bed and hurriedly slipped under the covers to sleep. Her energy was getting drained, but it was inevitable. Centuries had passed. It was finally time to provide his soul freedom.
