Chapter 1

Today was a very special day.

For the first time since I was born somebody was moving in.

And what was even better, there would be three new students coming today. There had been rumors about this since the beginning of the school year but now that one of the English teachers had confirmed them as true. To say everybody was excited was an understatement.

There would be three new seniors, three new potential friends. I was indeed planning on cornering them before anybody else could and try to befriend them. It was my only chance in completing another task from my bucket list – Make some friends, Felix.

I was hoping that because they haven't been here for too long they wouldn't have heard others bad-mouthing me. They still were a neutral zone for all of us. I can either gain someone on my side, or have them avoid me as the rest of the town's population.

Determined to actually have a normal conversation with a human being that could lead to a friendship, I woke up in an extremely good mood. I hoped it wouldn't be completely crushed by the end of the day.

Following my morning routine– showering, brushing teeth, putting on clothes, and such– I got ready for possibly the best day of my life, or the worst.

Since I hadn't gone shopping recently, I was left with an apple for a snack before the beginning of the school day and a packed ham and cheese sandwich for lunch.

Once out of the house, making sure I had locked the door, I was on my way to the daily hell of my existence. It was a fifteen minute walk to the school, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was still pretty early in the morning, meaning I had the time to soak in the crisp morning air. There were very few people out of their homes which gave me the opportunity of not being around annoying people.

I had been planning this day for a week maybe. The first step was to wake up early and go to school before anybody else. Of course, there would still be others, the nerds, but they shouldn't be much of an obstacle to my goal. Then, I would wait at the front door, probably sitting on a bench or something like that, and downright stalking everybody who passed by. It would be easy to spot the new additions to our town. The best part was the most complicated with the biggest chance of failure – introducing myself without looking like the freak the citizens of Motikaville viewed me as.

Now, I usually wasn't that creepy, not even remotely close to cornering complete strangers, but it was a special case. It had been years since I had a friend I could talk face to face with. Sure, I could always call Trevor, but it was different. He was out there in the city, surrounded by all those cool people with interesting lives, and here I was, stuck in a small town, spending my time being ignored by the human population. We were different. He was all chill and down to earth, generally a good person, who got along with everyone. I, on the other hand, was a little bit on the paranoid side, with my parents leaving me behind and all, walking down the path to living as a hermit with questionable ever-changing personality traits. I was surprised we still talked to each other to this day, considering our differences.

I finally reached the place where the confrontation of my unfortunate victims of the day was going to take place – school. My town had two high schools. Mine was for those who didn't think they had any chances in going to university after graduating, so the expectations for the students were pretty low. The other was on the opposite side of the town. It was a high school with many profiles you could specialise in – cooking, programming, studying various languages, etc. It was where the kids with ambitions went to, therefore the higher difficulty to get in and stay. All students had to have high grades from middle school and held exams to get accepted. They actually put effort in their studies. Ha, losers. I was too lazy for that, and I would be dead before actually graduating so I'd be wasting time on insignificant things.

I made my way to the bench left to the main entrance.

I sat in silence.

I hadn't thought this through.

Damnit.

I took my phone from my the back pocket of my jeans and looked at the time. It was 6:30 a.m. I definitely overdid it. Hell, I was most likely going to wait a whole hour before they showed up. Who even comes here before 7 a.m.? My dumb ass, that's who.

I groaned loudly, tilting my head back so that it hit the brick wall behind the bench. I let myself close my eyes, just for a brief rest, which appeared to be a mistake (like myself).

I had fallen asleep right there. On a bench. In front of the school. In front of the jackasses who laugh in my face and behind my back.

I never thought I'd say this, but thank fuck for the school bell. Its loud ringing woke me up from my unplanned slumber. I jerked up right away, looked around in a frantic panic, then realized it was indeed the second bell, meaning everybody was already in class and getting ready to "study".

I cursed under my breath. Not only did my neck hurt from the uncomfortable position I had been in, but I had missed my chance of meeting the new guys.

Needless to say, I had a pretty shitty luck.

With a hand on my neck trying to work out the kink there, I stood up from the bench that made my already flat ass flatter. I reached for my backpack, fully intending to slowly drag my miserable existence to class, I grabbed it by the shoulder strap and turned around. And boy, was I so not prepared for what I saw.

Three silhouettes stood by the front gate. When they entered the school front yard and got closer, I was stunned into awestruck silence. They were the most attractive people I had ever encountered in my short life.

And what a sight to see was the one in the middle.
