~Hope~
The cold passionless light of early morning filtered through the narrow windows of the female ward. The whole approach to the hospital was full of people waiting to be examined or waiting to see their relatives. The rooms were neat and tidy with freshly scrubbed floor. There were great bustles and activities going on in the corridors. Doctors and nursing sisters were moving up and down. The overpowering smell of carbolic fluid floated in a miasma above the freshly scrubbed floor.
'What may have happened to her, doctor?' Sister queried while she stopped by the next bed to tidy the tumbled sheets with her practiced hand.
Dr. Gupta studied the patient's temperature chart and he frowned. 'It's too early to say sister but it seems like she's been through much sufferings.'
Inclining her head slightly the nurse was a bit taken aback, she examined the weird marks which were present on the patient's body, 'It seems as though this poor soul had been tortured.' she said in a sad tune.
'I want to meet the lady who brought her here.' Dr. Gupta brushed a stray lock of dark hair from his eyes forcing his brain to concentrate and he walked out of the ward. Dr. Gupta was a young doctor with practiced hands. He was much appreciated by the patients for his charm and sense of humor. He was hard working and was dedicated towards his work.
A young lady with sharp features, maybe in her mid twenties walked gracefully inside Dr. Gupta's cabin. 'Yes doctor, is the girl alright?' the young lady asked which revealed the tension in her voice as she comforted herself in the chair.
Dr. Gupta glanced up from the reports and with a soothing smile assured her that the patient was in a good state but is unconscious.
'May I know your name, miss? And where did you find this girl?' the doctor asked eyeing her with a charming expression.
'Oh yes, I am Sheetal, I work in a NGO which fights for the irrelevant social evils existing in our society. I found this young girl in an unconscious state lying beside my car and when I saw those weird marks on her hands and face I thought of admitting her here!' she said with much ease.
'That was an excellent deed, young lady. I'm impressed by your action.' Dr. Gupta cast her a sweet smile.
Suddenly the door flung open and the nurse stepped in, 'Dr. Gupta, the patient of ward no. 48 gained her consciousness.'
