Chapter Sixteen

The car pulled up and I opened the door, swinging my legs in nude as I sat. I adjusted my dress and smiled at Louis.

"You look great." He grunned, turning his gaze to the road as he pulled out.

"Thanks." I said, awkwardly not wanting to compliment him immidiatly. I didn't want to seem desperate. Not that it mattered. At all.

"You ready to see this movie?" He asked, turning out of the neighbourhood.

"What are we seeing?" I asked.

"I forget the name. Some horror film Promise you won't get too scared on me?"

"Of course not." I smiled.

Me? Scared of a horror movie? Please, I had lived through things worse than the bloodiest movies out their. The thought of what I had done made me almost proud. I wiped a smirk from my face.

"Good. Wouldn't want you to have to hold my hand if you got too scared." He said, in mock seriousness.

I laughed. Not a creepy, insane laugh. A normal, almost pretty laugh. Part of me wanted to keep my laughs like that. Then I remembered Mark, and his screams I'd hear in just a week.

"If you really want to hold my hand then just ask." I suggested, making him laugh.

We pulled over. It took Louis a hundred times to get the car lined up parallel between the two lines.

Sheepishly, he paid for the tickets, insisting all the way that he was usually a better driver. I claimed that I 'totally without a doubt believed him.'"

Once we were sitting on the theatre, we settled down. We got there relatively on time and the movie started almost instantly.

It was pretty boring.  Just another movie about a murder mystery. Lots of fake blood. Shame they didn't hire me to get them some real stuff.

When the suspected killer leap from the shadows, Louis jumped in his chair.

"I think I need to hold your hand now." He whispered.

"Told you so," I whispered back as he looped his warm fingers arihnd my own. I hardly payed attention to the rest of the movie.

We left the movie theatre still hand in hand.

"That was pretty scary. I bet Mark would have loved it." Louis declared as we walked to the car.

"I've been meaning to ask you," I daid, leaping at my opportunity. "Was there some sort of event with Mark? He just seems oddly quiet for someine his age. ablittle avoident too." I faked a concerned look.

He looked at me hesitantly. "Actually yeah. I didn't think it was that obvious. I'll tell you in the car."

Dont know what to say. Other than, "Hey, as of right now, I have the last three chapter written and only plan on maybe four more." Which is true. Maybe I can get six in there, hut itll be uneventful. Whatever.
