Chapter Six
It shook him up. Even better than I expected. His eyes followed me everywhere all throughout science and math. No doubt it scared him. U wish I'd been there to see it.
I walked past him and he flinched. I snorted.
"I will now call names for our partner assignments this week." our teacher droned.
Now I know what you're thinking. Oh of course I'm going to be put with Mark because that's how you create a story line. Well, techinically I was going to be called with Mark, but it wasn't an accident. I switched the file last night after injecting Mark.
When our names were finally called, Mark groaned and layer his head down on the table.
"Three pages by Friday night." he sighed. "Class dissmissed."
I smiled at him from across the class and waved him over. "Why don't we go to my house tonight?"
"I can't." He said, struggling to think of an excuse. "I have... stuff to do."
"What kind of stuff?" I asked politely. If I could have chosen any other career, I would have made a great actress. But being a serial killer just has too many fun advantages.
"Like... chores." he squinted.
"Alright I'll come by your house around six tonight. Tell your brother I'll be there."
He nodded and raced off. I watched him leave. Feeling a tap on my shoulder I turned around.
"Hey Julie."
"Well speak of the devil." I mused. "Mark and I were just talking about you."
"Good things I hope."
"Of course. We have a project together for history and I wanted him to tell you I'd be over."
"And me knowing I'd be over is important because..." he said lifting his eyebrows.
I faked a smile. "Just wanted you to know."
Louis shifted his weight and rubbed his neck. "So about last night... I didn't mean for Mark to, uh, intervene."
"I know. And it's fine." I responded.
We both waited awkwardly until Louis broke the silence.
"See you later then."
"Yeah." This time my smile wasn't acting.
